A while back when I was cataloguing my supposedly complete collection of UK firsts, I noticed that two of my firsts were not in fact 1st editions. My old copy of Misery had on the copyright page all the indicators to be a first edition but the price on the dust jacket was £15.99 instead of £11.95. Whether there were first edition books left over for a subsequent release with a new dust jacket with a price increase or more likely someone had swapped dustjackets. Anyway, I needed a upgrade!

I will be needing to relocate all my books sometime next week when the new bookcase is fitted. I will take the opportunity to double check all my UK firsts, it's been a while since I saw a lot of them as they are behind all the US ones!

Looking forward to seeing photos of the new shelves, Simon. Maybe in the flesh one day.

And Firestarter. That's the other one I need to upgrade as mine is the unpriced export edition. I am finding it difficult to find a copy of the 1st I'm happy with.

I think I am still looking for a perfect UK Cujo. It seems that something little is wrong with every copy. It seems really prone to spine cocking (if that is a word...you know what I am talking about).

Yes, both my 1st and export edition have noticeable spine lean. I haven't seen one without spine lean.

John

Thanks John. It took me a while to get one. Luckily I found a seller with four copies. They still have three available ranging between $250-295. I've never seen a UK TBOBD proof for sale, so I'm still on the lookout for one.

EDIT: they actually have five left!

Dan from CD found some left over boxsets last month of CD's The Talisman / Black House with slipcase and poster by Tomislav Tikulin. I just had to order one as I had been after the Scribner reissue books. I like that the 2012 reissues were printed in really low numbers of 2250 copies of The Talisman and 2660 copies of Black House.

Stephen King / Peter Straub - The Talisman / Black House - US 1st/1st 2012 Reissue HBs with Cemetary Dance Slipcase and Poster.

The Slipcase Set

The HB book covers

The Poster

My other The Tailsman / Black House Set.

Stephen King / Peter Straub - The Talisman / Black House - US Grant Gift Edition Set Signed by Peter Straub - 1521/3500

I realised I own TOO many The Talisman and Black House books ranging from Promo packs, Posters (not shown), Proofs, 1sts, Reissues, a S/L and a Lettered. The only ones I intend to attempt to add to my collection are the The Talisman UK proof, The Talisman US 1st/1st and Black House UK Sampler and US partial and full manuscripts. The only easy one of those is The Talisman US 1st.

Wow, great Talisman/Black House collection! I really like the CD slipcase for the Scribner set. Back when they were issued I opted for the plain black VJ Books slipcased combo (signed by Straub) but this looks a lot better. I really like the cover art of these reprints and the small print run is a nice bonus.

Yes, the UK partial proof bottom left. The one I meant was the Waterstones Chapter Sampler along the lines of 11/22/63 and TWTTKH samplers, but they seem to be much rarer.
It looks like this.

I haven't really collected movie King promotional items but I thought I would buy a copy of the screenplay for Sleepwalkers being as it's King's only movie original screenplay not based on a novel or short story. The script is the only printing of the screenplay but my copy is only a reproduction but it's readable. I have also accumulated a few promotional items for the movie and I've also bought the blu-ray (in transit from Hong Kong or wherever through amazon!). I watched the movie shortly after release around 1992/1993 but not since and I have completely forgotten what the storyline is. Shape shifting vampires preying on virgin women!

Very nice Sleepwalker collection! I rewatched the movie last year, and I came poking around on here to see if Sleepwalkers was in some book or collection. I'm a little surprised it's not printed somewhere! That script is very cool, though. You should go rewatch the movie - not great cinema, but entertaining!

I'm not sure how many copies I've gone through of the UK first of Cujo to find a decent one. They are either export editions, price-clipped, wringled lamination on the dust jacket or with spine lean. I have not been able to get a copy without severe spine lean until now. My search is now over.

but, unfortunately, it turned out to be

Yeah I'm the same way. If someone comments on my thread I generally will always acknowledge it. I will say that at times I thought of skipping that but it has never felt right. Maybe will cut down when it comes to emoticon responses, and yeah by now I think the usual guys know I'm thankful without saying it. Still just feels right to say thanks.

The other day I bought two Justin Cronin UK Proofs. The Passage proof is normally for sale for £45-55 but I managed to get this one for £16 and it came with The Twelve Proof for that price. I already have The Twelve Proof in my collection, so if someone wants the duplicate The Twelve proof just PM me.

I am going to sell a large proportion of my non-King books, most my PS collection (not King or Hill) and if need be my King S/Ls (possibly some of my Lettereds) and gift editions as a last resort.

I will over the day post picures of books for sale! If interested please make me reasonable offers - BTW the books are in the UK. I will give descriptions of individual books and photos on request.

Dean Koontz - S/L collection and some lettereds - False Memory is a PC Lettered. The others are actual lettereds. All are in fine or near fine condition apart from Strange Highways which has wear and small tears to the DJ and is very good.

That week went quick! Rare proof Wednesday part 2.

I thought this week I would have a double posting and it seems appropriate to reveal these two proofs together. The US proof is moderately easy to find but this one is in particularly nice condition. The UK proof is extremely scarce and is rarely seen. It's not in as excellent condition as the US proof but due to it being so rare I didn't pass on the opportunity to own it.

There are a few new releases coming out in the second and third weeks of June which I'm really looking forward to; Stephen King's End of Watch, Justin Cronin's The City of Mirrors and Joe Hill's The Fireman. Of those titles, the one I'm most excited about is The Fireman, especially after I heard Joe read a chapter last October in the UK. I am now lucky enough to find an advance copy of the book (I'm not going to read this copy but keep it in mint condition). I think Jeremy asked Gollanz how many copies they produced of the UK proof and I think they said there were only approximately 100 copies made. I have only seen two copies for sale so far, both on eBay, the first in Ireland which went for an incredible £300 and this copy. I was fortunate to get mine for under half that price mostly due to it being a UK only auction, therefore it seemed to remain more-or-less under the radar. Less competition from the US buyers!
This is my first Joe Hill proof and really happy it is one of the rarer ones.

Joe Hill - The Fireman - UK Advance Uncorrected Manuscript Proof (With Promo Postcard)

The book - the publishers must have changed the release date after producing these proofs as there is a sticker with the date on the back cover. I seem to recall the original release date being in May.

Nice Jon! I'm envious. Is this the regular U.K. proof or is it another state of the U.K. proof?

Thanks Paul. I assume it's just a regular UK proof. The front cover looks the same as photos I've seen before but I've never seen photos of the back cover of other copies. Just need the US proofs now especially the first state.

Love it

Thanks Antoni.

Rare Proof Wednesday Part 3 - I may be taking liberties saying this is a rare proof but I haven't seen many copies for sale of this one since I started collecting proofs.

Congratulations Jon. Didn't even realize it was Wednesday again until I saw your post. It's interesting how some of these proofs with the spaces for date and price have it written in and some don't. My copy doesn't have the handwritten info.

Thanks Paul, We always try and get as clean a copy as possible, but I don't mind having these notations or information stickers on them. It can make them a bit more interesting.

Yeah, I actually prefer them with the handwritten information.
