Here are pics of my small collection. Back when I was younger, I used to hit up the used book stores for King books. Most of them had no dust jacket and if they did, it was often torn beyond repair. So one day I got this great idea to make all my books look the same. Hence, why I have no dust jackets. Looking for options at this point to protect them. I've considered using my graphic design background to make my own, but time is a problem. Anyway, here is what I have.

I like what I'm seeing, it's just a little jarring to see most of them without dustjackets. Tell me you have the dustjackets stored somewhere, at least for the recent ones? lol

My mother in law has the same problem. Her sister threw away all the dust jackets. I think someone here online is designed new dust jackets for all the king books. Starting with Carrie. I just cant seem to remember who is doing that............ :biggrin1:

@ Alan - Thanks

I wish. When I was younger, I hung out in a used bookstore a lot, and bought several King books there. None of them came with dustjackets, but they were in pretty good shape. Then one fateful day, I told my wife I was going to get rid of the existing dustjackets so that they all matched. I saved them for a long time and then she threw them all out after a few years. One of those 'hey I had a few beers and had a genius idea" nights. Many regrets over that.

@Roseannebarr - That was what I was considering doing. I've seen other do just that, and they make nice creative matching dustjackets. And with my background, I think I could do something pretty cool. But finding the time and resources is a whole other monster. :P

Ozzy, he's making a joke, lol.

Ambannon Books is currently producing a matching, uniformed, set of Stephen King dustjackets. Check it out:

Oz - It looks like you don't have Danse Macabre (or at least I cant see it, its hard to tell without covers!) I have a 1st/1st that has suffered some water damage for which I recently donated the cover to another site member. As you are the only person I know that doesn't judge a book by its cover (see what I did there? :) ) would you like it? It has no value to me as I wouldn't be able to sell it for anything more than a few pounds. PM me if interested - I can send pictures and you would only need to cover postage.

That is a very kind offer. Actually, I believe I do have a copy around here somewhere, but I've misplaced it. I'll let you know if I need it, but if you find another taker, go ahead, no worries. Thanks.

Indeed I am, but I'm also a fan of baseball (I'll try to take some pics of my collection to show you, although I sold most of it when I had kids). I was born in Southern Illinois, a stone's throw across the river (so to say), and lived in the suburbs of Chicago until I was about 13. After that, Eastern, PA. I had a 2nd cousin who pitched for the Cards (no one big), and I was able to meet some of my favorite players in the 80's (Ozzie Smith, Tommy Herr, Willie McGee, etc). And just recently, our neighbor across the street's brother-in-law found out I was a Cards fan and gave me (free) the pride and joy of my collection: an '82 team signed ball and a batting practice Tony Pena bat. I've played hardball (not pro or even minors, just A or AA equivalent ball) much of my life, and was a catcher for the majority of that time, so Pena was my hero. I stopped playing around 35 and not a day goes by where I'm not in pain, but it was well worth it.

Awesome collection, Ken! There were pieces I didn't even know you had!

Hmm... wonder who you got Joe Hill's Heart Shaped Box signed edition from? ;)

Man, looking at that gift edition of IT makes me jealous!

Baseball is baseball and the more the merrier!!! Obviously, I am a "Yankee" fan, but I respect the "Cards". I have some "memorabilia" as well. Good stuff!! I would love to see yours more close up.

Really like the baseball memorabilia!! Too bad you root for the wrong team!! LOL J/K

Awesome collection!!!

You may appreciate this. I owned a Telecom company and one of my partners was, Fred Mazzilli. Yeah, Lee' brother. I have been to, Lee's house and out for lunch/dinner with him more than a few times. What a "pussy-hound"!! LOL Anyway, Fred was in sales and invariably when he went to a client they would inquire about his last name (we were based in N.Y.) and when, Fred said that "Yes, Lee is my brother" a request would almost always be made for signed merchandise. Well, Fred had a file drawer in his desk filled with "MLB official" baseball's, Lee would provide. So when a client asked, Fred would sign the ball and send it on. Turn's out, Lee couldn't tell the difference after awhile!! My father was a partner in the firm and a big "Mets" fan. When he asked for a signed bat he insisted that, Lee sign it in front of him!!! LOL LOL LOL

Oh, and I once played golf with, Yogi Berra for Juvenile Diabetes!!! That was when I bought this at a "blind" auction.

I'm a former New Yorker in case you haven't guessed.

Truly awesome baseball stuff, dude!!! Jealous!!

That's an awesome story. And I love the basketball. The guy who gave me the bat and ball combo got it from his grandfather's house who recently passed away. Apparently his grandfather was some politician or something who loved baseball and had an in somewhere. He said there was tons of stuff, from all sorts of sports teams; signed bats, balls, footballs, game used stuff, everything. I was in awe and very thankful for what he brought me.

How do you read your books sideways like that? Doesn't that give you a crick in your neck?

Nice collection(s)!

Cool story! I have to groan about your '82 signed ball though. I'm a Brewer fan, and if it wasn't for the 1982 World Series, there wouldn't be too much to get excited about over the last 30 years!

Seriously though, very cool ball. Ozzie Smith was incredible!
