Okay, this is a little game in which I post a foreign Stephen King cover. You try to guess which book it is based on pictorial clues in the cover, or prior knowledge, or lucky guess, or whatever. One hundred beam bucks for each correct guess. :D Some might be easy. Some might be hard.

Here is the first:

I have no idea.

Knowing the Japanese it's probably something like The Green Mile or Cujo.

I have no clue either. I'm going to guess Rose Madder?

Ruthful

It does have a Rose Madder vibe-with the Ionic columns in the background, and mysterious woman cloaked in shadow.

Then again, it could be The Drawing of the Three.

Is the smug panda a clue, or just a subliminal ad for a Starbust-like candy company?

Ruthful,
Those are covers for Cell and The Dark Half........however I think Brice is the one to post the covers and confirm the answers. Of course I am probably wrong, and I apologize in advance if that is the case.

Schwarz = Black = Dark

Der Dunkel Turm = The Dark Tower. Schwarz is not part of the title, as far as I can see.

Schwarz is the German word for black, but that could also be the translator's name.

I think we need a native speaker to sort this one out. :D

It's the first volume of The Dark Tower-judging by the Amazon review.

I think the subsequent volumes have numbers attached to them.

Nope the volumes are titled Der dunle Turm and as (I guess) a subtitle they are respectively:
Schwarz
Drei
Tot
Glas
Wolfsmond
Susannah
Der Dunkle Turm

Some editions also only have the subtitles as titler and don't say Der Dunkle Turm at all. What the publisher's logic for picking this subtitle for this book is I haven't a clue unless they just read the first sentence and picked the word black (schwarz) out for some bizarre reason.

That was the original intent, but I have no objections if people like the game enough to continue it when I'm not around or busy. Besides I might even see one I haven't seen before.

No, it was to be permanent. If it were temporary I'd have offered more. Matter of fact I'll say anymore I post will get the same little reward. Anyone should feel free to continue posting these though. I don't mind a bit.

The third one has to be either Black House or Talisman because there's a second name besides King. Look how King's name appears on the others and you can see the third book has a second author and thus it must be BH or Talisman and since the guy on the cover looks like adult Jack not kid Jack, I'd say it's Black House. Plus there's a scary house in it!

William50
01-07-2008, 06:07 PM
Yeah, the scary house gives it away.

jayson
01-07-2008, 06:22 PM
I'd say the two authors names give it away a bit more. "The one with the scary house" could describe several King books.
