hmmmmmm. well, see. . . i don't really know how to play this game. i peek in here from time to time to see what it is about and this just happened to be a time when i saw a picture i recognized. so i'm kind of lost. do i put a dvd in my computer and capture a screen shot? or am i allowed to go to ::gasp:: imdb and find a screenshot?

or would you just like to post another one and save the newbie the trouble?

08-30-2008, 04:24 PM
You can post an image any way you want :)

Heather19
08-30-2008, 04:26 PM
I usually just search google for an image from a film, and then just post it up here :couple:

gsvec
08-30-2008, 04:40 PM
TS, do Google image search and when you find something you want, click on it. Then at the top of the screen you get there's a thumbnail version of the pic. If you click on THAT pic, it'll take you a screen that's JUST the pic. Use the url from that page to add the image to your post. :D

The Lady of Shadows
08-30-2008, 04:47 PM
cool. i didn't know if we could do it that way or if it had to be from movies in our own libraries. i'm off to search now. :D (thanks for the help)

The Lady of Shadows

yes. to both questions. my life without me is the movie. and i thought it was wonderful. but i am a huge fan of sarah polley. :)

Heather19
08-30-2008, 05:16 PM
yes, i think that's it (or at least that's the film I was thinking of). I enjoyed it, but it's been ages since I've seen it so I only remember bits and pieces of it.

Heather19
08-30-2008, 05:17 PM
I love Sarah Polley too, and I know this is a bit off topic, but have you watched the Avonlea series by any chance?

jayson
09-05-2008, 11:23 AM
Correct, it is 1941. Kinda kept the ball rolling on films with dates as titles following your 1984 post.

You are also correct that Belushi was great in it. The film often gets panned or simply ignored when people discuss Spielberg's career, but I think for a pure comedy, it was pretty funny for it's time. I haven't seen it in years so I don't know if it stands up to the test of time or not, but I suspect at least parts of it do.

In the interim, turtlesong, you can make another if you kin.

It's not exactly the same as getting the specific shot from the film that you may have in mind via screen capture, but a Google image search for a film will usually yield some screenshots. Often IMDB has still images from a film as well.

Nope. Not a bad guess though.

How about a hint, R of G ?

Ok.. let's see. Would it help if I told you the name of the film is also the name of a band (though not a band that existed at the time of the film)?

Also, my telling Beezer that "Sid & Nancy" was not a bad guess was somewhat of a hint itself.

Funny, but wrong. :nope:
Also, Sonny & Cher already existed at the time of this film (1982, there's another hint)

I'd say there's a reasonable probability that nobody is going to get this one. If people would prefer, I could post something from another film, one that is more likely to have been seen by someone other than myself. I just happen to have an obsession with a particular musician/actor who appeared in that film so I felt compelled to watch it. Although, it has been on one of the cable movie channels quite often over the last few months so perhaps someone else has seen it. I'm conflicted. :orely:

Naturally! I'd totally blocked that movie from my mind because of Matt Dillon. He just was not what I pictured when I was growing up reading the S.E. Hinton books (Yes, same for Tex and The Outsiders), and I have never watched it since.

Should I give it another shot? I no longer loathe Matt Dillon and it does have a lot of other great people.

Screamfest - woot ! Have fun !

Woofer
10-16-2008, 05:27 AM
It is Japanese.
It is a bizarre love story with aliens and a scifi aspect.
It has moderate levels of weird The Thing-like gore.

ETA: Reviews say it is for gorehounds, but it's not standard slasher gore as I noted above.

turtlex
10-16-2008, 05:29 AM

Woofer
10-16-2008, 05:33 AM
Hehehe, but good try. It is obscure, but not too obscure. It's on Netflix.

Thanks for the well-wishes. I plan to be exhausted but thrilled after Screamfest. MALCOLM FREAKING MCDOWELL. I was in lust for young Malcolm, and I am in love with old Malcolm just because he plays awesome baddies. He does okay as good guys, too, but doh! McDowell as H.G. Wells or as Caligula? Hmmm.

turtlex
10-16-2008, 05:37 AM
You're going to meet Malcolm McDowell?!? No way. I clicked on your link and didn't see that. That is freaking awesome! He's a legend !!!! You've got a crossover to Star Trek Generations, there! What are you going to have him sign? I'd have to go with something Clockwork, but no way I'd miss an oppportunity to have him sign something Trek as well. Wow. Woot !

ETA : Okay I have no clue what I was looking at before, but completely missed MM. Looks like a great line up. Corey Haim just added but to me, Rochelle Davis from The Crow! It's one of my all time favorite movies.

Awesome. Take pics!!

Woofer
10-16-2008, 05:53 AM
Well, we don't know for sure that he'll be doing autographs, but most of them do, so... yeah. I am taking my collector's edition of the ACO video and my hardback UK release copy of the Burgess novel. He's definitely doing a Q&A session, so I will surely be in it! My friend who is going even had his action figure from ST: Generations, but gave it away when she decided she needed to condense collections. AUGH!

Among many others appearing:

Tom Savini (makeup artist and actor, probably best known for his role as Sex Machine in From Dusk Till Dawn
Doug Bradley (Pinhead, Hellraiser) and the other original Cenobites
Ken Foree (Peter, original Dawn of the Dead and Televangelist, remake of Dawn of the Dead) and many more from the original DotD cast
Angus Scrimm (The Tall Man, Phantasm)
Elvira
Jason Mewes (of Jay and Silent Bob)
Dana Snyder (voice of Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force)

I am so freaking psyched!

Okay, back to The Movie Picture Game. I'm posting another picture/hint, but it's kind of gory/graphic so a spoiler box it gets.

WOOF! I am back. Oh my god. I met Malcolm McDowell (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000532/) (got a pic with him, got an autographed pic of him as Alex, and he autographed my copy of A Clockwork Orange (the collector's edition DVD)), and Doug Bradley (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0103208/) (autographed my Hellraiser print) and Ken Foree (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0286010/) (autographed a nice B&W promo print from the original Dawn of the Dead). So much more. SQUEEE!

And the movie is Meatball Machine (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0820111/). Nice to see a reference Tokyo Gore Police, though. I can't wait to see that! I learned, while posting a picture from this movie, that it was a remake. Now I am very interested to see the 1999 original.

P.S. Doug Bradley says "Hello youtube!"
