Let Me In (remake of Let the Right One In).
There's Carrie herself in the background, rather looking the part.

Yeah, he was known for his comedy work over here really, and then back in the 90s he got the part of Eddie 'Fitz' Fitzgerald in British series Cracker, a criminal psychologist. The role was perfect for him: not only did the role require Coltrane to smoke 60 fags an episode, drink a load of whiskey, and generally be Scottish in the most awesome sense of the word, but it also got him to use both his serious acting skills as well as his comedic ones. Having watched nearly 2 series so far, it's probably one of my favourite performances of the past 20 years both in tv and film. I do want to check out From Hell at some point.

It is a cool movie...If ya like Jack the Ripper mythology movies then you would love it.

Never heard of it. Is it good?

Kinda tough to answer ... it's a film about the devastating effects that the grind of every day life can have on a persons physical, emotional and mental well being. It's a very plodding film, but the last ten minutes are the some of the most disturbing I have ever seen, it almost literally made me physically ill to watch it - and it's not even a horror film. There is no gore or blood or dismemberment. I couldn't get it out of my head for days/weeks afterwards.

In hindsight, I'd recommend you watch it if only for the impact of it's ending.

I'm not trying to be obscure. The movie is one of the most well-known Hong Kong martial arts fantasy/comedy films out there, and that screen shot is from one of the most famous scenes in the genre. Anyone popping into the thread who's seen the movie would get it instantly.

But if you haven't ever seen the movie, well, there's no way to guess it. I'll post a couple more to see if anyone recognizes anything.

Not really I just LOVE that flick!!! A pretty obscure scene from the film!!

I haven't learned how to grab "stills" from the flicks yet so, take my turn. Something fairly recent (20 yrs), "mainstream" and Sci-Fi, perhaps?
