How to Play

1. It’s really simple. Click on the following link and it should take you to our group “Palaver Gunslingers.” If you don’t have an ESPN profile, you’ll have to set one up. If you joined in on the March Madness contest earlier this year, that profile will work. In fact, as a bonus to joining us in the Pigskin picks, you’ll be able to easily compete in other contests such as March Madness and College Bowl Mania (you might even win a trophy!).

If you have questions on how to set things up in our group, post your questions here and we'll try and help you out.

2. The contest will begin with Week 1. Only one entry per person in our group and it must be identifiable to me as a member on this board or you can PM me with your ESPN handle. Once the season has started you cannot move or add a second entry. This also means that any latecomers will not be able to join (sorry about that!), so please get in early. Picks for week 1 can actually be made now!

3. This year, the contest will officially end at the conclusion of the regular season unless ESPN continues into the playoffs (which has not happened in the past). We can continue talking smack all the way through the playoffs, though! :evil:

4. At the end of the regular season, whoever has the best Win/Loss record wins the coveted First Place trophy. We also award trophies for Second, Third, and Last Place**

**In order to qualify for last place, you need to pick every week. If you mistakenly miss picking one or two games, don’t give up on last place. We can do the math and with penalties, make adjustments. To be safe, just be sure to get IN THE GAME each week!!!!

As much as I am a Seahawks fan, I agree that last night's game was determined more by the refs, less by the players and coaches. And that includes the entire game - not just the last play. As they said last night "it's time for the owners to step in on this, since it will affect how their season ends."

I couldn't believe the calls the Pats were getting on their last possession, with the Ravens fans chanting "Bull $H!+", and I wasn't surprised the calls went the other way once the Ravens got the ball back. The intent is that you get in every week, but I know circumstances are hard. Thus, missing a few games through the season can still keep you in the running. The reason is that Thursday and Saturday games sometimes trip people up.

I'll drop those who have truly given up at some point.

As we enter into Week 17, a Champion will be crowned! I may have to pull the tiebreaker game into play for trophy awards, so make sure you get your scores put in for the Week 17 Tiebreaker Game. If need be, the Tiebreaker game will be used in the following sequence:

• Tiebreaker #1 - The entry that correctly predicted the winning pick of the Tiebreaker Game is considered the winning entry and is the overall winner. If it is still a tie:

• Tiebreaker #2 - An Entrant's predicted Tiebreaker Game score is compared to the actual Tiebreaker Game. The differences between the predicted scores and actual scores for each team are added. The entry with the smallest total difference is considered the winning entry and is the overall winner. If we are still in a tie:

Well, unless the 7 people above me are kind enough to "forget" to submit their picks, I am effectively eliminated. Two terrible weeks in a row did me in.
Needful, you can use the tiebreaker, but I always thought if three people tied for the best record, all three would win 1st place and there would be no 2nd or 3rd trophies.
Effectively there are four people competing for three places. 5th place (Gunzup4life) is 5 games back of fourth, but the top three are within 2 games of each other.
