Yes, I am a member of westeros.org. You already have me on your list under for sale or trade. I actually haven't had much action on that sight, thats why I decided to list on this site as well. I already have an offer from a member of this site that I am currently considering.

Rugger

Ya, I have thought about putting them on ebay. However, I find selling on ebay to be a pain in the butt and I would prefer to sell to someone from this site or the westeros site.

On an unrelated note and just to get my fifth post, can someone tell me how you are posting with the previous quote you are addressing in white? Thanks.

I finished Dangerous Women last night. Typical anthology. Some really strong stories, some not so strong.

Martin's contribution was probably my least favorite ASoIF story to date. It's written as a history instead of a narrative which may have turned me off. And Martin's trademark character overload was in full force here. And several characters named similarly didn't help.

Somewhat disappointing for me. But for those that are really into the history of Westeros it may be more enjoyable.

Although it looks cool, I am trying to hold off. I know what's going to happen...once all seasons of the series get released on Blu-Ray, they will release the "Ultimate Edition" that contains all the seasons as well as a bunch of extras. I'll wait for that one

My idea exactly.
And - I never even started reading this series. I bought the A game of Thrones UK HC (1st/1st - Jim Burns cover) way back in 1996. I had read Martin before and this looked like an interesting read as well. At the time I thought this would be a trilogy -didn't we all??- and was pretty sure around the year 2000 the series would be complete. And here we are, 2013 - and two (?) more books to go. And yes, all my books are still unread. Plus i have begun collecting the SubPress limiteds.....And US 1st/1sts....

Now I do hope I'm going to like this series.....

That makes sense if he publishes the longer version of it in A World of Ice and Fire. That book is being formatted as if it had been written by the Maesters recording the history of the realm.

Thanks for the review! I'm only on book two, so it will be a while before I get around to reading it.

No. I feel like I am so late to this party and prices seem so high, especially for the s/l's. I have managed to get a nice (unsigned) set of the five trade editions and that will have to do for now. But I have really enjoyed seeing your collection grow and it makes me envious.

Why thanks! Although you are good at finding deals so never say never. I saw a whole S/L set go for under $2700 not too long ago. You just gotta look around and strike when no one is looking ;) - you know, like that awesome DT2 S/L you found... I'm soooo jealous!

You can't actually purchase unless you are attending Capclave in a few weeks. If there are any left, they will go on sale then. I've got my two copies ordered already since I'll be attending.

Hey Eric, I was told that we could order there or pick up at Capclave. They gave the impression that only Capclave members could order at this point. You should make sure that your order is valid just to be sure...

The website originally said that, but it looks like it changed this weekend. I took the chance and placed an order. My Paypal receipt says Signed Hardcover. Guess I'll wait and see what happens. Worst that can happen is that they cancel the order.

09-23-2013, 05:44 PM
Fingers crossed that you get a signed one. They kept telling me the signed were for members only and if any were left over, then they would be released. Maybe they changed their minds... it's not a very elaborate set up, I believe the Paypal goes to one person, and he handles the orders.

I think there are at least 500 attendees and it would suck if someone wasn't able to get a copy. I didn't take any chances and pre-ordered.

Starlady/Fast Friend
Songs the Dead Men Sing
Tuf Voyaging
Portraits of His Children

GRRM: A RRetrospective
Skin Trade
The Pear-Shaped Man (100 hardcover copies)

10. AFFC US 1st with Unreleased DJ Proof
11. AGOT UK white reprint edition
12. AGOT UK Collector's edition with leaf/tree design

6. ACOK UK 1st
8. ASOS US 1st
12. AGOT UK Collector's edition with leaf/tree design
13. AGOT US Barnes & Noble slipcase edition

I would not get the AGoT UK slipcased copy signed. You know how much they go for, and not everyone wants signed copies (if you ever decided to sell it)

--- The Skin Trade ---

Just got news from SubPres

WSFA Press, who did those nifty little hardcovers by Connie Willis (Fire Watch) and Jeff Vandermeer (The Three Quests of the Wizard Sarnod) has now published a new edition of George R. R Martin's classic werewolf novella, The Skin Trade. We will be getting in copies of both the limited and trade editions (more of the latter than the former), so please order asap, and be in the first batch of copies we receive.

Limited: 500 signed numbered hardcover copies: $35
Trade: Unsigned hardcover: $25

Important Note: You may order as many copies of the trade hardcover as you like, but households may only order one copy of the limited edition.

Btw if you missed the signed skin trade on sub press site - you can actually order it directly from wsfa site for only $35 - so cheaper than sub press.

http://www.wsfapressbooks.org/?wpsc-product=the-skin-trade

I order a trade and signed copy. Guess I will see if they still had signed copies available - it didn't say sold out yet - so fingers crossed. Btw both the trade and signed are limited to 500

becca69
11-04-2013, 07:05 AM
Sub Press might have some extra ACoK after they ship the orders. So keep checking the site once they announce that.

BTW - if the signed Skin Trade is sold out from WSFA, the trade is exactly the same except the limitation page of course ;)

I have the hardcover editions of the books ‘A Game of Thrones’ and ‘A Clash of Kings’ for sale. The books are the UK 2011 hardback editions with the ISBN numbers 9780007459483 and 9780007459452 . These books had a very limited print run and hence are collector’s items for Game of Thrones book readers. The books come from a non-smoking house.
If you are interested in one book or both books, please let me know. If you would like to see more detailed pictures of the books, don’t hesitate to contact me.

So do you guys think the Meisha Merlin books will retain value when the Sub Press versions come out?

I think they will. I have heard some folks say that they will consider the SubPress releases of AGoT and ACoK as "reprints", since the original limiteds were the MM editions. I myself will be happy to have a complete 7 book set of the SP editions (6 matching and one PC) once it is all said and done. A "Master" set will have all 9 books total. Ka-ching!

becca69
12-19-2013, 11:20 AM
I think A Game of Thrones will definitely keep it's value, just for the art alone... some people only bought the book because of it and don't collect GRRM. Clash is different, it comes up for sale a lot and the prices are all over the place unless you are talking a full matching set, which like DT are rare.

I'm just hoping to pick up MM Game so I will have the full 9 books since I won't have a matching set unless I can trade for the matching Storm.

Love the bookcase Becca.

Seeing your GRRM collection made me wonder. What anthologies have ASOIAF related stories in them?
I picked up Dangerous Women when it came out last month, but that's all I have. Are the 3 (?) Dunk and Egg stories the only other ones out there?
Where were those first published?

Dunk and Egg were printed originally in Legends but he's on about releasing them in paperback and the fourth one might be called The She-Wolves of Winterfell which has been postponed whilst Martin completes The Winds of Winter.

Does anyone live near GRRM's Jean Cocteau Theatre? He posted that there are still signed books available for sale but they don't ship. They also have books signed by DIANA GABALDON, S.M. STIRLING, MICHAEL CHABON, PAT CONROY, MELINDA SNODGRASS, CARRIE VAUGHN, DIANA ROWLAND, MEGAN LINDHOLM/ ROBIN HOBB, JOE S. LANSDALE, SAM SYKES, GARDNER DOZOIS, TRENT ZELAZNY, and NEIL GAIMAN.

If anyone is willing to pick up, I would love a copy of Dangerous Women!!

They do raise a ton of money - I donated last year (for the first time) - did not win any books - although the list of books is pretty impressive. My goal is to at least match my charitable donations from the previous year - so I have a long way to go. We usually do a lot for our local charities that help the community here. From the subterranean press newsletter :

If you failed to pick up a copy of the Signed, Limited Edition of George R. R. Martin's classic werewolf novella, The Skin Trade, the first time around, all is not lost. We've just received word that we'll be able to pick up additional copies, which we're more than happy to do.

About the Book:

Randi Wade's world is spiraling into a dark labyrinth of secrets and lies. Her only friend is keeping something from her. Innocent victims are being savagely attacked and left for dead, all but their skins. There is an eerie connection between the crime scenes and her own father's murder nearly twenty years before, unsolved to this day. Despite this, Chief of Police Joe Urquhart, her father's former partner and best friend, beckons her to drop the case, drop everything. Is he protecting her, or something else?

As the case unfolds, Randi is pulled ever closer to realizing her darkest fear: that werewolves do exist, and they'll do anything necessary to keep their secrets safe in this once quiet town... Even if it means killing their own. All the while, an eccentric but powerful family watches closely from inside the black iron gates of Blackstone Manor, as the horrendous truth behind it all begins to bubble toward the top.

Limited: 500 signed numbered hardcover copies: $35
Trade: Unsigned hardcover: $25

Well I just paid 5k for mine - and that was complete - included both meisha Merlin editions as well as the pre-ordered clash of kings. I know that camelot has sold partial sets for between 4500-5500 - so I was happy with full set at that price.

Thanks everyone. This was my third attempt to get a copy in the last few months, so I'm happy to have finally succeeded.

fearless-freak , the low limitation (448 copies) and still growing fan base brought in by the tv show have certainly pushed the prices up on these.

$5k is good for a matched set.
I was trying to figure out rough average estimates for the individual books based on ebay sales that I've seen and came up with:
AGOT(MM edition): $2000
ACOK(MM edition): $500
ASOS: $800
AFFC: $700
ADWD $700
ACOK(SP edition): $350 Not released yet, so I'm leaving it at issue price

That's $5050 for an unmatched set right there.
Of course those prices will vary quite a bit. ASOS alone has ranged from 700 to 1200 in the last couple of months.

mistercrowley

In that case I am looking for the most recent volume with rights to the next volume. What is the most recent release?

becca69
02-02-2014, 03:18 PM
A Dance with Dragons will get you the rights as long as the seller owns them. Make sure they will release the number/rights to you before you purchase. Just having the book doesn't necessarily mean SP will give you the rights unlike Grant books.

I had a problem with Feast for Crows where the previous owner didn't release rights.

Haha. Jacob and I saw it on Friday. He's got tons of Legos that have never been opened... and it's not me it's him. I think he's hoarding them until he's middle aged and will then sell them on Ebay - LOL.

The new legacy figures were $19.95 from B&N. Although they are sold out most everywhere so aftermarket is insane. I also got 10% from my member discount. Still haven't located Tyrion.

The POPs are cheaper. They range from around $8 to $13, except for the limited exclusives like Headless Ned, which can be expensive.

My wife bought the Viserion from Hot Topic last night to add to her dragon collection. Thankfully she isn't going to start to collect the rest of them. Wouldn't know where to put them.

I pre-ordered a Castiel (Supernatural) from there since it was the only place that has them. I just wish our Dollar was stronger compared to the British Pound!!

Interesting way to handle the limitation page.
Efficient, but it feels a little bit like a form letter.
