these polls are killing me

I admit that TWL is the better book of the two. Voted Duma Key, as a personal favorite.

Same here. With the difference being that The Waste Lands is not a favorite of mine, so an easy vote.

TWL doesn't have any weaknesses... it's all full blood, robustness and large-as-lifeness, fullness of existence and infinity of possibilities... while Duma Key is all sadness, sweetness, nostalgia, fading away, ending, dying.

it's like voting the sun vs. the moon... you know that the sun is the important one, and you need it, and there's no life without it, but some are just influenced by the moon (otherwise called lunatics)

That is perfectly stated, and explains a lot, but I asked more because of pablo's "not a favorite of mine, so an easy vote."

Jean

yes, I know you were asking pablo - and I would love to hear his explanation too - but I was, you know, in one of these ursine lyrical moods http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

The Waste Lands dragged for me somewhat necessitating starts and stops while Duma Key was a relentless non-stop read.

The Waste Lands dragged for me somewhat necessitating starts and stops while Duma Key was a relentless non-stop read.Mind-boggling. Really? If anything, for me it's precisely the other way around.

Jean:  Rock on.

Wish I read Duma Key so I could (possibly) throw a vote towards The Waste Lands. Love that book.

The Wastelands by a significant margin.

Jean

and now they are tied

I am very impressed that my personal favorite manages to stand so well against (arguably) the best DT book!

I'm really hoping it can pull out a few more votes and win.

For any DT book? What would you rank above them?

I really enjoyed DUMA KEY, so this was a hard one. Ultimately THE WASTELANDS just kicks my ass and takes my vote.

I don't think there can be more than 12 people in the whole universe to vote DK over TWL. Hell, in the whole multiverse. We're the only freaky dozen.

Just three more votes for Duma Key and justice will be served here.

I voted for Duma Key. I'm probably one of the few people on this message board who has never read The Dark Tower. I read The Gunslinger and just couldn't get into it.

I voted for Duma Key. I'm probably one of the few people on this message board who has never read The Dark Tower. I read The Gunslinger and just couldn't get into it.

1. The rest of the Dark Tower is, mercifully, nothing like The Gunslinger. If it was, I would have never read the other six volumes. You totally should start The Drawing of the Three - you'll see how different it is.

2. I am afraid your vote for Duma Key doesn't count... it makes me very very sad, but you should have voted "Never read one or both titles". Did you actually vote Duma Key without reading TWL? If so, I'll have to edit your vote...

I did read Duma Key - it is one of my favorites. I guess I should have looked at the choices and picked option 3 :-(. But, we need to be fair and adjust my vote accordingly.

And thanks for the tip on TDT - I may have to start with Drawing of the Three and give it another try
