This should be a ten.......book and movie both. Unfortunately I was limited to giving it a 5
I bawl like a baby every time I read or see John Coffey's execution scene. Every time.

Never read. Not sure why I haven't read this yet. I would think this could be grouped in with Shawshank and The Body, both of which I LOVED.

You are right, I think. I also loved Shawshank and The Body..........this one is more than worth your time!
sorry guys. I loved Shawshank and The Body, but I was bored to unconsciousness by TGM.
I clearly remember buying the individual editions - and being hooked!
Loved it.

Oh no Jean! I guess this is the King era where we disagree
And for what it's worth, I gave this one a 5. And like frik, I bought these when they were first released individually. And it was tough waiting till the next month to continue the story.

I also bought these as originally released in the serialized editions with that wait between parts. Loved it.

The Green Mile was the first Stephen King book I read (and I was 19 at the time). My then-girlfriend (now-wife) and I bought two copies of each book as they came out, and it made for the best reading experience I had ever had. The need to wait a month before finding out what would happen next was exhilirating (and frustrating!) We are planning to re-read the series soon, and I think we might institute a one volume per month rule.

Good Deal!!! Great book and even better movie, IMHO!!!!!

You're entitled to your opinion. That was mine. I'll edit it as such.

The movie's not particularly inspired, but it's at least very faithful, making it nearly as good as the novel, a rarity for Stephen King. Oh, and the actors were remarkable.

Yup, especially Sam Rockwell - that guy was amazing.

I think the movie is easily one of the best adaptations of a King story. Not only is it faithful to the book, but it is also extremely well made. So you get the best of both worlds :)

Also agree. I absolutely LOVE the Green Mile as a movie. The acting was superb. Michael Clarke Duncan nailed John Coffey to the tee. I watch that movie every chance I get. Also love Stand by Me and Shawshank. Excellent movies and true to the books.
