I know that the moderation options are going to be limited to our specific sections of the forum, but is it possible to have stuff like being able to delete posts be applicable across the entire forum?

I cherish the ability to delete my posts if I lose track of time they wind up getting posted way late in a conversation, or just getting rid of double-posts.

I concur here. I've found over at CX that it comes in really handy for mods to be able to do certain things in other forums, for example, if a spambot leaks through. Better for whoever finds it to get rid of it instead of waiting for that section's mod to pop in.

I have been thinking very long and hard on this and I can see the side of the point. Everything (functionality wise) that is done on the board is done at the "user group" level for members.

I could set up a user group that could edit in all the forums--or we are talking about a "supermod" position and that defeats the purpose of the management structure we have set up.

With the new facilitator system, I am feeling pretty confident that people will be on site to respond, and if not, we can take away from a slow category and add to a busy one.

Also remember: If you are in a manager position, you will have mod capabilities over two full categories. That's a lot of forums.

I am really hoping that we have enough traffic to make the mod responsibilities you have almost too much to bear--let alone the entire site.

For instance, the first time reader forum has 7 other forums inside it, hell of a lot of moderating there.

I agree with Matt. The system is setup so as not to overload anyone, and we hope to have enough traffic eventually to have all of you begging for new help. And besides, if you are only concerned with deleting your own posts, because they came too late or are no longer applicable, members still have the ability to edit their own posts. You could simply edit out the text and whatnot. Believe me, everyone will have enough to do as it is.

That's what I mean Blake, if I make the User group have permissions to mod across the board, it takes out the established structure.

I promise you though, if a forum is not being modded enough, we will step in and make sure it happens.

Under the text field, there's a Signature Picture thing you can put your image's URL in. Then in the text box where you'd normally type your sig stuff, click where you want your image to show up in relation to any text you want in your sig. Then go back down to the Signture Picture section and click "Insert Signature Picture." It should enter a [SIGPIC ][/ SIGPIC] where you want your image to show up. Then save it. It worked for me for the thirty seconds during which I had a sig pic. :D

i don't get emails about pm's either, and i've got it all spelled right and my settings are like they should be. but i don't really need them and i'm not too worried about it, i find my pm's without the email.

I'm working on it you guys, the system passed the test with no problem but I am digging through the support forum to see if there is something else I need to do.

Everywhere there is a check mark on this site to send email notifies of PM's is checked. :(

I just found this out there:


Aol and Hotmail accounts now require a reverse-dns tag on all emails

it may have something to do with it, I am going to see if I can change the server configuration to do a reverse dns tag.

I was able to change another setting that may have fixed this, please let me know.

Also, I know you have already done this but please check your trash or spam folder for these emails. :D

Same here!! Very happy now!! It's almost like a page out of Good Will Hunting. Someone fixed the problem but ain't taking credit...yet. If no one owns up to it, you and i will claim victory. We will just say it was the flux capacitor and the finnigan pin and johnson rod weren't aligned properly
