View Full Version : A Site--by fans, for fans

I promise you guys I won't make a big deal about our anniversary every single month but the first six are really big for this site and we have now completed the first stage of its implementation.

Hands down, the reason this site has been (and will continue to be a success) is because it is literally a fan site. By us and for us and there is no way a fan site like this can make it without the fans being the very first priority.

Keeping it fresh, up to date and functional is the least we can do in light of the amazing commitment all of you have made to this place. We started as an idea, we have moved to a new but driving force in the "King World" and its only going to get better. Thank you all for your help.

So lets see where we were and how far we have come.

In these six months we have developed a very strong member base that will continue to grow through the hospitality of existing members of the site.

Our numbers have spiked over the last two months to triple what they were for the first four

We have developed some of the most comprehensive King research materials on the internet. No question

We have been noticed by the King camp :ninja:

We have enjoyed a 98.5% up time on the forums and improvements and updates are planned to make sure we maintain that. The site being "up" is my primary responsibility

We have an interactive Gallery with hundreds of member pics and growing fast. ( I love that thing )

We have the best administration team anywhere on the internet...seriously. This group of people has spent the last 6 months being participatory, offering opinions and each doing their part to make sure this site stays consistent in how it applies its guidelines. Hopefully each of them knows how much I appreciate that, as a group, I can't thank them enough.

Its hard for me to believe, this site that was just a dream at the beginning of this year...what its become. We have an amazing future and hopefully it will be cool, one day, to be in the first 1000 members.

Me and the rest of the Directors decided early on that the only way to make a truly great fan site, was to let fans build it. You have all done a wonderful job at that so far...

Thank you!

Thanks so much to everyone; to the staff for their participation and enthusiasm, and to the fans for filling the site with interest and discussion. The site continues to exceed my expectations--which is no small feat, as my expectations are high. We are fast becoming the most comprehensive King/DT presence on the net and we owe it to all of you.

Everyone here deserves a pat on the back. Thank you for finding a home here.

You know what I personally believe? That Jake is just a younger version of Roland. Who says all the worlds are along the same timeline? Some worlds might be in the middle ages and some might be in the space age. Perhaps there is a Roland Deschain of all different ages on each world, each with a different name. I mean think about it, they think so alike that it is scary. They are almost father and son. Just think about it for a minute before trying to discredit me.

That would even be BETTER. While reading the story I often wondered if Susannah wouldn't end up being a reincarnation of Susan.

Such a rare combination of wonderful people here.

It's almost as old as my son! :cowboy:

I agree, great people are here indeed. A lot I remember from the old site when I was "Song of Ka." :shoot:

Yeah, I wasn't sure if you knew my real name, so I didn't know if you'd recognize me. It's good to have you back around.

Yes, on a few other sites. At .net I used about ten screen names, but that was the main one. Here I have always been me...well, except at Halloween :)

Okay, I'll tell you all the truth. I am Brice, too. I mean Letti is just one of my many screen names (one of my big favourites hehe, have been working on it a lot).
After so many years you deserve to know it.
No Letti. Only Brice.

I thought you would be content with being Stephen King? though, of course, it all amounts to the same brices...

Funny...that was one of my accounts there.

Again so VERY VERY true.

Full disclosure (as best as I can remember): At .net I was quiddityquest, Stephen King, Richard Bachman, Oglethorpe Crater, Charlie Decker, and sometimes, Adumbros (my little brother's account), reeferslinger (a dead .netter whose account I inherited, and Mandy (someone else's account I borrowed which led me to temporary unfortunate endings. All accounts other than my primary were used innocently for those twilight hours when noone was posting and they pretty much stayed to the games threads. I was not mischievious with them. On the rare occasions I used them to interact with anyone the people involved knew. Letti and Ruki have actually had conversations with several Brices at once. :D I'd log in and out of accounts repeatedly over a couple minutes time. It was very fun. Now I am just me.

EDIT: I did occasionally debate with myself in the religion and politics threads also though. I never lost.

Interesting.
One of you had to lose... I mean... if there were two of you one of them had to. Or no?

no, in that thread he only lost when he argued with bears

bwahaha

otherwise, he lost to himself, and the he he lost to lost too; thus he considers it a positive made of two negatives

bwahahaha

In all other cases, though, which means the absolute majority of cases, he certainly won. http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

I'd suggest that me having lost to a bear or to myself is equally a matter of perspective. I have conceded points, but as often as not they were points I intended to concede to further the conversation. That aside I'm fairly certain I'm the only person to simultaneously argue for and against the existence of some creator sometimes using multiple accounts to debate my own points with all those accounts flipping sides in the debate. Often what determined what side I was on was who I perceived as the underdog at the moment and the tone others took with each other. As for my own true beliefs I am quite certain of my uncertainty. I'll stop now before I start posting in mutiple fonts and colors and sizes and before this post starts looking a little too much like someone else's. :innocent:

I don't believe in two negatives balancing each other out. Nor do I believe in two wrongs making a right (It takes a hell of a lot of wrongs to equal just one right  ).
