The purpose of this thread is for members to take a snapshot of their "The Mist Snow-Globe" in its travels.
I will start it off.
Today TMSG and I spent a bit of time on the computer. TMSG really liked the video I shot. For some odd reason TMSG wanted to climb a tree.
We subsequently went to Mel's Diner for a bite to eat. All that built up to our seeing the new movie "Super 8'. Afterwards we stopped off for lunch and a libation.
TMSG wanted to have a "smoke" (BTW I hate smoking, but there is no stopping TMSG).
Then it was off to check out a boat, and a Harley.

Enjoy this small bit of fun, and I encourage you to take your TMSG out in public. Being stuck in a bookcase or drawer is mighty boring.

TMSG must walk before running. Think of being in the box as a pregnant woman going out in public-the child to be experiences things pre-birth. Soon TMSG will emerge into the light, but for today, my particular TMSG is still incubating.
Your TMSG may have already matured. Feel free to post picks of your newborn, toddler, adolescent, etc. TMSG. They all grow up differently.

Shannon, BTW there is a support group for those wishing to adopt a TMSG. More info can be found here (http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2729509145/)

Yeah, I'm just curious to know if TMSG enjoyed "Super 8", obviously TSMG could not see the movie, but the audio.... probably just shaking' that box to death.

Well, We did go to the IMAX presentation (although it wasn't a true IMAX movie) and if nothing else, it was loud. The train-wreck-(no spoiler here the TW was in all the previews) was fairly awesome.
The movie did a good job of nailing 1979, a couple of missteps, but no suspension of disbelief. Overall TMSG and I give it 4 beers on the RFSRS (Randall Flagg Six Pack Rating System). A bit too "Spielbergish" for my tastes. I know he didn't write or direct, but it had too much warm and fuzzy, ALA E.T.

All the time I was watching SUPER 8 I was lamenting the sad, sad fact that I have no Mist Snow Globe! The tragedy, the anguish, oh, the horror! I felt the eyes of the audience on me, shaking their heads in sympathy as they stroked their Mist Snow Globes while trying not to read my 'Yes, I do NOT have a Mist Snow Globe' t-shirt.
My one hope in this tragic tale of events is that by the time the sequel, SUPER 9, is released, I WILL possess a Mist Snow Globe!

Sadly none are for sale, and this thread has now pushed the price for one far beyond the casual "I want everything" Collector's budget. You may see some in a year or two, but never below $1K.

I'm thinking CD publishing should make a new limited edition called:

"The Travels Of TMSG: a Pictoral History of the World's Most Famous GlobeTrotter"

I'm sure SK would do the forward for it, and could then sign the book. All photographic contributors could have their names listed in the back.

the Lettered Edition of course would be traycased with a facsimiled TMSG enclosed ... and priced at 2500.00.

Go for it, man. This guy has tons of stuff from the show. Not TOO sure of the legitimacy ... but fuck it. You know what I want, which I'll get one day? A complete set of all the Lost trading cards that came out? They had a few different sets, a few per season I think, and they had the base sets, but they also had the special cards, the random inserts? Autographed cards, cards with bits of costumes and stuff, there was even a card with a bit of the plane wreckage in it. I think for the set of 34 autographs (or costume cards, can't remember) it's like six hundred bucks ...

I think I'll get them eventually and do some kind of "matte" poster to place around my Lost autographed plaque. You've seen that, right?

What Would The Mist Snow Globe Do?

Would TMSG spew coffee from its mouth? I think not.

A photo of "TMSG" very vulnerable and needing love and caring:

For a measly $20 a month, you can feed and clothe "TMSG" for a year. How can you not?????

Ricky

I'll pay you $7 for it. This benefits you in two ways: 1. You get a whole $7! 2. You get to see Shannon's rage as he misses out on another globe for cheap!

I would know, I have been on this thing's trail for a good thirty plus years now. It's always one step ahead of me, and it knows tricks and secrets about how to use the shadows for cover. One time I thought I caught up to it in Panama, but it turned out to be a small clear bowling ball. I will catch this THING if it is the last thing I do. And when I do ... WHEN. I. DO. ...

It will pay.

DON'T YOU DARE MOVE MY THREAD!

Here's the first line you wrote in the "Travels with TMSG" thread:

"The purpose of this thread is for members to take a snapshot of their "The Mist Snow-Globe" in its travels..."

Anyone can plainly see that the purpose of my thread was to get away from your obsessive compulsion to insert "TMSG" references into every thead you post in. All I want to do is make Shannon insanely jealous because we all have some silly little "collectable" that he doesn't.

Just a friendly warning .. if you move my thread, you'd better take out extra insurance on your snowglobes.

Shannon's Newest Game: RANK SHANNON'S NEEDFUL THINGS!

For every cool item posted (pictures or links must be given), I will rank it on a scale from 0 - 5.

Examples:
A 0 is ... "Eh, I'll pass".

A 3 means it's cool, but not amazing.

And a 5 means that it is AWESOME AWESOME and I must own it now.

First person to 25 points wins round one. All pointing is completely up to me, and the only other rule is that Jerome is automatically disqualified.

CURRENT STANDINGS:

Stockerlone (7 points)
- Dark Tower postage stamp = 4 points (so cool!)
- Birdcage = 2 points (where would I put it? lol)
- Thermometer = 1 point (very eh)

carlosdetweiller (5 points)
- Silver Bullet paperweight = 5 points (beautiful)

Merlin1958 (3 points)
- Christine autograph = 3 points (I've seen it before but it is a nice idea)

Patrick (3 points)
- renaming the thread to "Shannon's Needful Things" = 3 points

iowabob (2 points)
- Cujo Mask = 2 points (seen it before, but if I can find it cheap I will buy it)

biomeig (2 points)
- unfolded Christine S/L dustjacket = 1 point
- unfolded Firestarter S/L dustjacket = 1 point (my fold out prints from Knowing Darkness are STILL sitting on top of my dresser collecting dust. These might be nice to frame, but then they just look like framed dustjackets)

TwistedNadine (0 points)

How about some cool Gunslinger bumper stickers; apropos for a site like this!

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/Bumper_Stickers.JPG

And for the well respected fan of this forum you can proudly display the thedarktower.org pin fully knowing that any well respected message board memeber would sell or trade a TMSG for you if you really had that gaping hole in your collection!!

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/Dt_ORG_Fan.JPG

For those hot humid days by the pool some Redrum Ale would probably be nice! I'm sure Grady can serve some up for you! Don't forget to be a good collector and save an extra label. It's really just like a dust jacket you know! Makes that Redrum Ale worth oh so much more!

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/REDRUM_Ale.JPG
http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/REDRUM_Ale_2.JPG

Oh and just because I had a great time golfing with my son yesterday! This is a shot of my tee shot on the 13th Hole at Forest Greens Country Club - a sweet 175 yard par 3! Where do I sign up for the tour???? I heard that a rabid vampire telepathic gopher lives on this hole. Didn't see him though as the (T) Mist (SG) rolled in about the time we got to this hole.

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/Tee_Shot.JPG

Got a few other things hanging around but they must be hiding out with my TMSG - a Room 217 Door Plate from the Overlook Hotel is a great little keepsake! And add a set of Skeleton Door Keys to Room 217 and you are good to go! Just look out for the fire hoses and for heaven's sake stay away from the Room 217 Bathroom!!!!! Shine On Shannon!!!!

Somewhere I probably have another gazillion bookmarks and postcards and psoters and other such things but enough for now!

Oh and thanks to IowaBob for starting this thread. People )SKEMERs) sometimes (in the past) have confused us. He knows what I mean! :-)

iowabob, that is nothing compared to this. King actually got Hasbro to create a toy based upon ideas from his son Owen King. Not some aftermarket stuff, this was real leverage from SK to get a toy produced to thrill his son.

This is Crystal Ball version 1 released by Hasbro in 1987 as part of the sixth series. Apparently either Stephen King or his son Owen (huge G.I. Joe fan) created the character and wrote his file card. Either way this guy looks quite sinister with his red eyes, elaborate costume and jet black hair with white streaks. The filecard info seems to collaborate the story with CB being the seventh son of a seventh son in a union between a Gypsy and a woman from Bangor, Maine. The figure itself is in superb shape with tight articulation and crisp painting. The Hypno-Shield is included.

Oh, fyi, the girlfriend that collected snow globes ... the one I wanted to get TMSG for ... she drunkenly gave her number to a guy and then tried to defend her actions with "what's so wrong with that?" ... So now she is gone with the wind. I have no patience for bullshit. I liked her a lot, but it's only been two months, so not too much time wasted. On to the next one!

So ... my motivation to find TMSG has decreased mucho. Thank you. :)

I am SO embarassed ... my apology to Merlin.

Thinking about the situation, it MUST have been Cook that broke my snowglobe. I know he was in SoCal last week visiting the mouse in Anaheim.

I'm convinced that sometime Saturday night he secretly drove from Anaheim to San Diego, broke into my house, BROKE MY TMSG, and then crept back to Anaheim. I can't prove anything yet, but I have confidence that the local CSI guys will be able to pin the crime on him.

Yeah, and I so seem to be missing a S/L Gauntlet #79 that I bought directly from the publisher when it was first released. It hasn't shown up in Cook's collection page or on the "New Pride and Joy" page yet, so maybe he's afraid of getting caught red-handed.

Any comments Mr. Cook?

lol @ the #79 TMSG S/L.

Didn't I tell you guys that my motivation to hunt for TMSG has been drastically reduced? Ooooh, I went to my SK bookstore today and found three new first editions to add to my Stephen King collection. They're not Stephen King though ... Need to take pictures. My collection page has been dead for a while. Taking pictures in a little while after some okcupid.com time with my beeches.

San Diego??? Is it merely coincidence that the SEALS are based and train there??? Are you sure that Mr. Cook is really his name? Or, for that matter, are we sure that Shannon is really HIS name??? And now he has a camera....taking pictures of EVERYTHING!!! Are we possibly involved in a TMSG governmental cover-up/conspiracy? Just look at what happened to Bin-Lauden- HE WAS HIDING FROM THE IOWANIANS -- and now we have someone moving from the heartland of America to the fringe coast...and then MAKING FUN of those iowanians ....... OMG ........ I'm scaring myself ............ MY ARM!!! MY ARM !! NO, NOT MY ARM!!

People from New Mexico are just ... weird.

LOL Well I haven't been in SoCal in a while either!!!! LOL

BTW, the online store looks great!!

Don't sweat it!! Does sound like "Cook's" M.O. though. He must've thought TMSG had "79" on it!!!

LOL

Iowa.. Merlin..
Sorry for taking so long to reply to this thread, I've been on the lam,
hiding in bushes, living under highway overpasses, etc etc.
But I finally made it back home book in hand (see http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?12423-Book-Collection-Cook&p=625188&viewfull=1#post625188)
BTW the crack, it wasn't my fault, TMSG was trying to protect your collection, I had to knock him out. LOL

I was watching the movie "Jackass 3D" and TMSG just happened to be within earshot. TMSG (after a "beverage-or three) claimed that it was indestrucible. As a challenge I took it up on the offer.
