ZoNeSeeK

Yeah its going ok, work is busy at the moment but thats not really a bad thing I spose. Im reading the dt series again in light of this site coming fully operational :) Hows everything going with you?

Brice
05-07-2007, 10:14 PM
Okay I suppose. I'd started rereading the DT series before this was even a commonly known idea. I suppose I'll have to resume it.

:o They let y'all have beer at work???

ZoNeSeeK
05-07-2007, 10:25 PM
No im not gulping at the moment, was more of a wishful thought :)

My level of alcohol consumption is directly proportionate to how busy work is usually. :(

ZoNeSeeK
05-07-2007, 10:26 PM
But yes I can drink at work later on friday afternoon, say 4ish onwards.

You're serious! Damn!

I'd actually do some work if they'd just fill up the pepsi machine with beer. Hell, I wouldn't even be mad if they made a profit off us.

Theres plenty of quizzes like that on those sorta sites. I was doing a "what sort of lover are you" quiz and they were asking questions about holding hands and first kisses and how long you should wait before holding hands etc and I soon realised (after briefly thinking "whoa, im a super sex stud according to this!) it was a quiz for 14 year olds :)

guess what.

NO BAR TAB.

Thanks, diems brother, for forcing everyone to pay $8 a fucking pint tonight when you could have just had a fucking houseparty like any other 21 year old and not extort everyone who comes to it. Fucks sake. Pissed off.

He's having his party at the same place diem and I had our engagement party which looks good with about 90-100 guests, any less and it looks a little bare .. the guy doesnt have gazillion friends (i think he's inviting about 50 including family) so fuck me sideways why he decided to try and make this big function out of it. He is insanely jealous of his sisters (which I can understand with a young kid, but he's 21 for fucks sake) so as Diem's dad is sorting out his finances with our wedding coming up (which has been in planning for over a year) diems brother thinks this is the perfect time to ask for money to have a 21st at the same place we had an engagement party, so the result is funds we had included in our budget have now been taken out, which I'm a little annoyed about (not being greedy, help is help and im appreciative for any help whatsoever, but it just makes it a budgeting nightmare if the incoming $$ amount keeps fucking changing!) - anyway, everyone is a little pissed off about this level he is going to for a 21st when noone else did anything of the sort for their 21sts at all. Diem or Meike (her sister) didnt get $500 in cash to have an event - he sees us getting engaged and getting married as an excuse for him to get something out of his father. Its fucking pathetic.

He has actually said "well how much did dad help you for your engagement? because i want exactly the same for this."

He looks at his father and just sees a bank account, its immature and pathetic and he needs to grow up.

Daghain

Shit Zone - is it $8 a pint because the place is really posh - or is that standard for the town/city its in?

ZoNeSeeK
11-04-2007, 02:08 PM
Thats pretty standard Lisa - some places are a little cheaper at $7 and some are more expensive for imported at $9.

Remember with the conversion, its about 3.50 pounds.

There was a bar tab after all so that took the edge off :) I still hate the money grabbing attitude though, it doesnt teach you anything about being responsible with money if you always run to daddy when things get too hard. But hey, its his father's problem for giving in to this sort of shit, and diem's brother guilt trips him with "well its not fair that my sisters get and I havent" - I would really like to sit him down and give him a detailed picture of his sister's financial positions when they were fucking his age, having to save up for everything, having to sort out their own financial problems when they made mistakes (as everyone does when they're that age). I really appreciate the fact that when I called my dad up when i was 19 because I had problems paying a $200 bill and he basically told me to sort it out on my own. At the time I was annoyed but I worked it out and at least was able to feel independant about my responsibilities, I think its an important lesson everyone learns at some point and the sooner the better.

His whole chip on his shoulder started when their father sat all three kids down and said "I have put $5000 aside for each of you to help you buy your first house" - 6 months later, after saving our asses off Diem and I were in a position to buy our house and of course her father's money helped (but we still could have afforded it without his help, but with it we could afford to replace the stove / put up security screens, stuff like that). Their dad specifically stipulated that the money was there for [B]property only, which is understandable because its investing in your future.

And you should have seen the fucking whinging and bitching after that! Even though as far as I could fucking see it was an extremely generous thing for their dad to do, her brother found it completely unfair because "How was he ever going to be in a position to buy a house?" - even diems sister chimed in on it, basically inferring that the money was tailored to help diem and I - and out of all three kids, Diem has asked for the LEAST from their dad. He has been willing to help with the property purchase and help with the wedding and we didnt ask for it, and I get fucking annoyed that theres this petty, childish squabbling over money like for some reason theyre entitiled to their father's pound of flesh. Even Diem's sister has called her father up when the car has broken down or when something or other that life throws at you has been too hard. Given she is far better with money and ALWAYS paid their dad back, the whole attitude about the $5000 gift for land purchase still pisses me off. Diems brother was living with his dad at the time and pestered them so much about "how unfair it was on him and his other sister" that he eventually caved in and forked out all this money to help fix cars (that died 6 months later - great fucking investment), and guess what - the older sister ends up buying a house after all, with her partner, and gee i reckon that $5000 would have come in handy when the house price was $600,000 because of the boom. And the primary reason they are like this (especially the brother) is because their bitter divorced mother constantly encouraged them to "go to their father for money, he can afford it" - awesome encouragement their mum! Now they see their dad as an ATM. Well fucking done.

Anyway, I could keep ranting for a while but i think it would just bore everyone so I'll be quiet now.

Lisa, your smokes cost about the same then as ours. A pack of 20s is about $11 here so that would be about the same

one of the main reasons why our beer is expensive out is that our liquor laws have favoured large pubs and clubs up until recently - licensing laws have all eben changed so its far more affordable to open up smaller bars and cafe's/restaurants etc are able to serve alcohol without food now, so the increased competition should bring the price down a bit
