I was thinking of donating a book or so to the haven charity.
What's the process?
Who's the contact?
Do they have to be Kings only?
Do they have to be mint?
Who does the listing & selling?
etc.
etc.

Randall Flagg
03-26-2011, 07:53 AM
You would contact me via PM.
It helps to have an item that is King related.
The greater the demand for the book, the higher the price it will fetch.
Simple Paypal donations of $5 or more can be done using the Paypal widget atop the screen.

I think it's hilarious that bookworm.mcgee is shadowing this auction with one of their own. They keep raising the initial bid amount to keep it in line with this one.

Some people....:(

Yeah, that is pissing me off as I thought about going for the other one as well, but now....I just don't think that is right what bookworm is doing...I GET it, but don't agree with the ethics.

Yeah, but at least his Remarque is nowhere near as cool as this one. Don't you agree?

More of the "pertinent" landmarks included in this one!!!!!!

I am thrilled. Especially because the high bidder is someone I am familiar with. The previous high bidder had a "zero" reputation on Ebay. We all have to start somewhere, I just didn't want him changing his mind.

Thanks to everyone for their awesome bids. I love that remarque!

Considering the already amazing price, I will find some kind of cool bonus to throw into the shipment if the winner comes from this board, okay? Not sure what it'll be yet, but I'll find something! :)

Best wishes,

I'm stunned (but happy!) that the bidding on this has gone so high, fantastic for the fundraiser. I'm astounded that others believe this will be the going price and that they will sell for the same; don't they get the idea of a fundraiser? I mean, they're nice books and all (although I honestly didn't care much for the stories), but for that kind of money a pristine 1st/1st Gunslinger is going to be on my shelf instead! That being said, got my notification from CD this week that my S/L Remarqued FDNS is FINALLY on it's way and will retain a place of honor on my shelves ... not on eBay!

Not to be argumentative in any way, but compare your Remarqued FD/NS to this one and you may begin to see the difference. Plus it is an "Original", "one of a kind" piece and it is for charity, hence the generous bids. Not sure on the re-sale issue, but I'm relatively certain that it will appreciate over the years for sure. That's a GREAT Remarque by Glenn "The Machine" Chadbourne. Very unique in its way.

I agree completely with the one for charity, I think it's great that folks will shell out big $$$ for a good cause. I just don't understand or agree with other sellers (not to hurt your feelings if you're one of them) jacking up their prices to match. If the thinking is that this one auction is going to set the market for all future FDNS remarqued copies, I don't believe that's a reasonable assumption. I think they're in for a surprise, and anybody buying at the elevated cost may (may) be in for a rude awakening. Yes it's a nice book with a great piece of artwork, but apparently he's done at least several of exactly the same style which kind of takes away from it's uniqueness. For all I know, the copy that I've got coming is just like it ... but even if it is, I personally don't feel that I'd have a $1.5K book on my hands. That's a ton of money for a new, non-groundbreaking book with the value based mostly on a sketch by an obviously prolific artist. JMO.

No, I agree with what you're saying. Its a shame folks will reduce themselves to that.

It is a truly unique piece and wish to hell I could afford to buy it!!!!!!
