Gay Beast are an amazing three piece noise rock/no wave band. Their EP, Disrobics, was fucking insane. Their debut LP, Second Wave, is even better. Keyboards, saxophone, guitar, drums, and yelped vocals. Imagine a cross between DNA, Theoretical Girls, and (weird as it sounds, it's true) ABBA.

Recorded some modified violin (broke a string, so I retuned to an open chord that uses a 2nd as an interval) using an overloaded mic. I also recorded glockenspiel onto a cassette then dumped it into a digital medium. Yay for analog! Next up is distorted tenor sax. By the way, the song being recorded is called "Whole Jesus," and is a dissonant set of solos taken by violin and sax over a pop-hop vamp. I kind of took free jazz, Ayler, and MF Doom and then just mashed them all together.

Zork's Tape Bruise - Thee Oh Sees
Super limited (only 1000 or 500 copies, I think) vinyl from Kill Shaman Records. All demos and outtakes from John Dwyer's home. The CD is all B-sides and unreleased songs. And the vinyl is clear!

The Eraser - Thom Yorke
Awesome vinyl packaging. That's all I'm gonna say.

stanley donwood's imagery of king canute attempting to order the sea to cease its ingress is the perfect visualization of the songs thom created for this album. the two of them just know each other so well.

also, as you may know, as i call amnesiac "kid b" i also call the eraser "kid c"
the three of them very much comprise a trilogy for me, though each also works on its own spectacularly.

easily the most potent of all of zorn's masada projects, the bar kokhba sextet blisters their way through selections from masada book 2. as great as this album is, i have a live set of them performing the same material last year and wow. just wow.

the smokin' power trio rashanim unleashed on selections from zorn's masada songbook. few words can describe how potent a combination that is. let's just say that it's a crime that so few people know who guitarist jon madof is and yet they know so many other so-called guitar heroes who should put the instrument down forever in the wake of what madof can make it do.
