Ella seems to like the Ramones a lot. I've played a lot of them for her, both on the stereo and with my guitar. She gets a big smile on her face every time. Last night I plugged in and played her "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" and Melissa sang it to her but changed all the Sheena's to Ella's. :)

There's no way to grow up as my child and not hear plenty of the Ramones. As soon as she can hold a guitar, I'll teach her how to play an infinite number of songs with 3 chords.

They're always so perfect too- not necessarily bad songs or anything, just songs that would make you laugh to randomly start hearing. Mine too. I saw ZPZ in 2006 (with Steve Vai and Terry Bozzio). I still wish I'd gotten to see FZ himself, but this was as good as I've heard his music played by any band other than his own. One of the few good things about the music scene here in Tampa is the presence of Bogus Pomp, a great Zappa cover band. They play some great stuff and quite well.

Me too, but always a tad more critical of Beatles' covers because sometimes a cover makes me realize how much I actually like a song I may not have appreciated in it's original form, but with the Beatles I already like pretty much all of it on one level or another. So my standards are higher. :)
That said, there are a lot of great Beatles covers out there.

 this album.
It's part of Blue Note's "Cover Series". This one is a cover of the 1974 Bob Marley & The Wailers album of the same name by guitar phenom Charlie Hunter. Charlie is a jazz/funk/rock guitarist who plays an 8-string guitar, allowing him to play guitar and bass simultaneously. With his chording style and his effects array he also plays in a way which mimics an organ. Add in drums and horns and you are well on the way to a great run through a great album. If you like Bob Marley, and you like instrumental music, you might like this one. I know I do. :)

This one has one of my favorite Marley songs, "Small Axe" plus some other exceptional songs. The other strong suit for this album is that it was produced by legendary producer/musician Lee "Scratch" Perry. Lee Perry is in my top 5 producers of all time, maybe even higher if I had to really think about it. Definitely the heavyweight champion of dub, though I have a few more contenders coming up in the Marley tribute today.

Great one. It's actually "Moma" not mama though. It's a play on words as the lyrics being referenced are "the moment ends and I feel winds." When you say "the moment ends" a few times fast, it becomes "the moma dance". :)
Personally, I liked the song better in its infancy in 1997 when it was instrumental (almost identical to the way it is as "Moma Dance") and it was still known as "Black-Eyed Katy". Nine times out of ten when I hear it I still think of it as "Black-Eyed Katy". 97 was the Year of the Funk and that was one of the better vehicles for it.
In fact, I could go for a good one right now...

I have some thoughts for sure of stuff that might sound good given their treatment. Abbey Road comes to mind instantly, as do a couple of Bowie albums. Also, though the results could be scary, a shot at an all dub take on TW's Rain Dogs certainly intrigues me. If they can figure out how to make "Singapore" into a reggae song, their powers are greater than I thought.
I think the key with ESAS doing any album is that the album in question has to hang together as an album and not just be a collection of good songs otherwise it just becomes another novelty album. The Blue Note cover series is the same way. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Personally, I think that would be horrible. He would be completely out of his element and it would be doomed to sound like an imitation of the genre. Also, as versatile as Tom's voice is, I can't imagine it can do that style particularly well. I wasn't exactly sure I would approve of a dub cover of OK Computer either, but it turned out perfectly.

It should be a part of every collection. Of the many many Blind Willie compilations available, it's the one most worth getting. I also amazes me that for such a limited amount of material how many covers have been done of it by so many artists.
