Waste - Phish
Nice. Speaking as we were earlier about them playing Divided Sky a lot at The Gorge, there is a beautiful version of Waste that they played right after Divided Sky at the Jul 17, 1998 show at The Gorge. Divided Sky works best when followed up with something slow and bittersweet and Waste works perfectly in that slot.

Me either on Rod. I dislike him enough when he does his own material, but when he does covers it really irks me because he does choose good songs, he just kills them. Jeff Beck I like some stuff here or there (he does an interesting version of Charles Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat") and his work on the Rod Stewart cover is the only thing saving that track at all.

amazing song
In the last second of life they're gonna show you how.
How they run this show, sure, run it into the ground.
The stars are projectors, yeah,
Projectin our life down to this planet earth.
The stars are projectors, yeah,
Projectin our minds down to this planet earth.
Everyone wants a double feature,
They wanna be their own damn teacher, and how,
The stars are projectors, yeah,
Projectin our lives down to this planet earth.
It's all about the moderate climates,
You gotta be cold and be hot for sure.
It's all about the moderate climates,
You wanna be blessed and be cursed for sure.
All the stars are projectors, yeah,
Projectin our lives down to this planet earth.
All the stars are projectors, yeah,
Projectin our lives down to this planet earth.
Everyone wants a double feature.
They wanna be their own damn teacher, and how,
All the stars are projectors, yeah,
Projectin our lives down to this planet earth.
You've got the harder part, you've got the kinder heart and it's true.
I've got the easy part, I've got the harder heart ain't this true.
Right wing, left wing, chicken wing.
It's built on finding the easier ways through.
God is a woman and the woman is, an animal that animals man and that's you
Was there a need for creation? That was hidin in a math equation and that's this.

Elton John - Live
Setlist:
1. Country Comfort
2. Sixty Years On
3. Border Song
4. Amoreena
5. Honky Tonk Women
6. Burn Down The Mission
7. My Baby Left Me > Shotgun > Give Peace A Chance > I Want To Take You Higher
8. Can I Put You On
The highlight for me, besides obviously "Amoreena" (my fav of his songs) is the Stones cover right after. It's a nice arrangement.

Very nice Brice. Love that one. One of Dickey Betts' best melodies, for me second only to the composed part of the solo for "Blue Sky". I saw dozens of ABB shows and heard "Jessica" at many of them. It's was always a great vehicle for improvisation.
Also, on the studio version, there's the amazing piano playing of Chuck Leavell.

You still can, and if you ever get the opportunity, you should. The current line-up is quite good and has actually infused a lot of the sensibilities for the heavy blues of their earliest work. It helps having a world class slide player like Derek Trucks to play Duane's parts and Warren Haynes has always played great in ABB. I saw many shows with Dickey and Warren and the departure of Dickey and addition of Derek has changed Warren's role a lot, for the better I think as he and Derek have both benefitted from the space the other allows. Gregg is Gregg. He'll be on and off but when he's on, he's great.
