I thought the ending of Split was mind blowing. No one seen that coming. No one. I
Always thought how amazing it would be if they did that.... remember year of so before Venom when that movie came out about the black moving tar like substance and both were by Sony? I can’t remember the name of the movie now but always thought they missed an opportunity there by not putting a little something in the end to connect them.

Are you referring to Life with Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds?

Also, what made the Split twist so much more awesome is pulling that off in the year 2017. With the internet, I didn't think it was possible to keep stuff like that a secret anymore.

https://thefilmstage.com/christopher-nolans-tenet-will-open-in-70-countries-before-u-s-release/

As the coronavirus continues spreading throughout the world, the incompetence within much of the United States in controlling the situation has caused fatal consequences. While it seems trivial to await updates on the chicken and egg situation as it pertains to Christopher Nolan’s Tenet (and how theaters won’t open until there is a likely box-office earner like this one, and how Warner Bros. won’t open the film until they can safely guarantee the opportunity for a profit), a major update has indeed arrived.

Warner Bros. is now continuing with their unconventional rollout plans, opening in around 70 international territories beginning on August 26, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The film will then open in select cities in the United States the following weekend beginning Thursday, September 3. As much of Latin America still fights the pandemic, those dates have yet to be decided, as does an opening in China.

We’ll have to wait and see which cities in the United States will be on WB’s list, but it presents a dangerous game if this opens up the desire for people in a hot zone to travel to a city where the film is playing. See an abridged list for the rollout below, also culled from Deadline, who note that Japan may not get the film until September 18, which conflicts with WB’s announcement. We’ll update this list when confirmed.

I see another wave of the 'rona coming by September 3rd. We'll see if anywhere in the US gets Tenet...or re-opened theaters at all.

Good for those countries.

When you're a kid, you have to finish your homework before you can go outside and play with your friends (yes, playing outside used to be a thing). US didn't finish our homework, these other countries have. We deserve to be stuck inside doing our homework while they have fun.

Thank you! There are some things that aren't debatable. I don't care if you agree with wearing a mask, or refuse to. I don't care if you think Trump is doing a great job, or if you think he sucks. The fact of the matter is the virus is global and other countries have handled it better. That's just a fact.

I think they have to stream it in the US around the time it's released in theaters in other countries. I realize that may not be ideal from a revenue standpoint, but they can't continue to hold back the release in the US if it's been showing in other countries for weeks. So much relies on opening weekend hype these days.

And I don't think there's much chance of having an expected theater opening date by September, much less the majority of theaters actually being open.

I truly hope they do that, but I'm doubtful that they will. Nolan hasn't said much himself but the big rumors are that he's been the one pushing for the theatrical release as a way to help keep theaters afloat.

I for one hole they DO NOT do that. Guys, I was at my theater last Friday Night.. at 7pm there was 12 people there. It was saddening... they need movies. They NEED THEM BAD. People don't care about the hits of the 80's and 90's when they can watch them on Netflix. They want new films. I am going again this Friday just to see something... they will NOT survive. I cannot imagine the US theaters now.. they have to be bleeding:( Breaks my heart

They're definitely bleeding. But the choice isn't between Tenant gets released or Tenant goes streaming here. It's really Tenant gets delayed again and again or Tenant goes streaming. I don't think there's any way Tenant get's released in the US in September. With the way things are going here, I'm doubtful theaters will even be open by the end of the year here.

I don’t think there’s any way that theaters can open nationwide safely in the US in September. Not the way the current trends are going.

So Dan is right – it’s a choice between a streaming release - with perhaps a restricted theater release - or postponing the US release, potentially indefinitely. I have to think they will opt for the former.

It's possible. As it stands now though that's a possibility even if they do open, because the movie studios aren't even really making movies right now either. So there's going to be a big drought either way. Better to have the drought now and postpone new releases, then risk infecting your customer base just to have the drought a year from now when things are safer.

Art like Nolan's sometimes requires multiple viewings. You won't all the answers you're looking for in the first viewing. Where's the fun in that?

While I like to have many viewings of well done films that I enjoy.... walking out with NO clue what the F is going on...IS NOT my idea of fun at the movies. I love mind-bending films but even I had trouble understanding some of Interstellar. I felt it was more complicated than it needed to be, like the Nolans were showing off about their astrophysics knowledge rather than being concerned with crafting a better story.

Inception definitely did a better job than Interstellar of making it easier for audiences to wrap their minds around things.

With my increasing fears that theaters are going to get shut down, I really made it a point of trying to see Tenet again in a theater while I still could. Upon a second viewing, I can confirm that, to me, the film is a masterpiece. I'm officially obsessed.

EXACTLY what i was saying. It really is.

I plan to watch it again once it's out on streaming -with glorious subtitles- to make a more accurate assessment. Don't want to experience the frustration of not understanding %50 of the movie again.

Not sure if it'll ever hit Masterpiece status for me but hopefully understanding the dialogue will move it a bit up the ladder for me.

I've come to terms that I won't be seeing it in the theater. They're opened here, but I just don't know if I'm comfortable yet. :(

I will say that I didn't see it in IMAX this time and I was able to understand a lot more this time.

Christopher Nolan on turning his films into games: “It’s definitely something I’m interested in” (https://www.nme.com/news/gaming-news/christopher-nolan-turn-films-into-video-games-interested-2844015)

Christopher Nolan has revealed that he is “interested” in turning his movies into video games.

During a recent fan Q&A session for his latest film Tenet, hosted by video game journalist and personality Geoff Keighley, Nolan was asked if he would want any of his films to be adapted into a video game.

Nolan responded by comparing the filmmaking process to video game development, saying that while both are “complicated and [take] a long time”, the video game development process tends to be a more complex entity.

He also touched upon the issue of movie tie-in games, saying that “you don’t want to just be doing a licensed game, you don’t want to just be tying in with something and using the brand established by the film”.

“The same way you don’t want, actually when people do adaptions to film from a video game, you don’t want to just draft off the brand,” he added “You want it to be something great in its own right.”

Nolan wrapped up his reply by expressing his interest in turning his films into video game, while reminding vague if its something he would actually do. “I think my time and energy, I’ve wound up devoting it all to film and seeing how difficult that is, it’s not something you’d ever take on lightly but it’s definitely something I’m interested in, it’s an amazing world,” he said.

During the Q&A sessions, Nolan also revealed to Keighley that his 2010 film Inception was considered for a video game adaptation saying “[we] went fairly far down the road with it” before deciding to pull the plug altogether.

While a Nolan-inspired game doesn’t seem likely for the time being, a number of his films have been intertwined with gaming throughout the year. He partnered with Epic Games’ Fortnite to screen films like Batman Begins, Inception, and The Prestige through the game’s Party Royale mode. He also premiered a new trailer for Tenet through the game.

Most recently, Nolan presented the Game of The Year Award at this year’s The Game Awards to Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us Part II.

Yeah, but it's still pretty impressive they could compress a film that much to fit on a GBA.

I can't even imagine the technical savvy you need to pull something like that off lol. Impressive.

That should be amazing. The visuals look incredible. And you know he is going to do right by the story.
