Hey everybody. I have reading King since the late 80's. I have been buying new King since the 90's and since 2006 I have been trying to complete a nice collection. So far I have 50 first ed. In addition to that I have some S\L Dark Tower books.

I have noticed that people share events that have happened to them here as well as their King collecting experience. I would like to do the same thing because it's what has shaped me into the person I am today. It also may explain some other things as well. So here we go.

I hope you have time . When I was 9 I had two cats. One was a hunter. We would find dead animals under the bushes. We think that's how I got sick I contracted something called leptospirosis. I think they had to send it down to the CDC to get it analyzed. This was
back in 1979 just so you know.

So, the doctors really could not do much for me. I basically had to fight it off on my own. I coded on the way to the hospital. I had massive organ failure meaning, my liver failed, my kidneys failed, my blood became toxic. My white blood cell count went through the floor. I also developed gangrene on my feet so they had to amputate my toes. It was so bad that doctors wanted to "pull the plug" but
my parents said no. I was also in a coma for a month. I had a fever of about 108 degrees. Plus I had acute meningitis. All in all I was in a hospital and rehab place for 15 month.
You can look it up on line if you are really interested in the illness.

I also had two near death experiences. One was that I saw my deceased great grandmother when my grandfather was praying to her for me and then I had another one. In this one, I went up on an escalator. At the top I saw a man in booth. He asked what myname was. He looked in a book he had in front of him and he said "It's not your time yet". So I went back down.

I was also blind and I couldn't talk for a time. Also, I had to learn how to walk again, which the doctors said I would never do. I also had to learn how to hold a fork again and everything else over again. I also had scar tissue on my brain which causes me to have uncontrollable
spasms. Lucky for me, I am taking medicine for that.

There may be other things that I don't remember that my parents do but those are the main things. I also had years of physical therapy afterwards. To say that it's lucky that I survived is an understatement. To live through it as well as I did is almost impossible. Remember, this is 1979 so they did have all the stuff they had now.

So fast forward to later in life. As I said, I has spasms that would cause me to fall. I fell and hit my head a few times. I needed staples to close up the wounds. After a major fall I went for a cat scan and they found out that I had scar tissue on my brain. . Then in 2016 I fell and dislocated my shoulder. The shoulder was at least six inches out of the socket. And I was in so much pain. Then they popped it in twice.

After that, I could not even move it at all or even feel anything because I had sever nerve damage. Feeling slowly came back but I still don't have 100% feeling in my hand and that's probably as good as it'd going to get. It still feels like it's a little asleep, like when you sit on it for too long.

But in between all that I had multiple other surgeries on my feet because my toes were not right. I was in constant pain. Then later I had bone spurs that had to be removed.

I could probably go on but that's basically what happened. So I don't diminish what anyone else is going through but I have been fighting for 40 years.

Whether it was physical or mental. I don't want to seem like a complainer that's all.
So that's about it. I am sure I left some stuff out but that should give you a sense of my life and what I have lived through and what I am still living through. .
P.S I did warn you this would be long .

But now I am a King collector and it's great. I just wanted to share my story because other people have shared there stories. Like I said, If you have any comments or questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Now on to my collection.

Instead of posting my wants in another thread, I will keep them here so I can monitor them more easily. I streamlined my wants to my priorities at the moment.

First ed I need
1. My Pretty Pony.
2. The Bachman paper backs U.S

The S\L books I want.
Cycle of the Werewolf S/L (1 of 100 with matching number portfolio)
Plus some more first ed signed

Then Proofs and other interesting items and of course, my Suntup collection.

Plus if I find some cool stuff that I don't know about. Will check eBay and maybe add to this list.
I think that's about it. If I can get some of those, then I will see if want any others.
THIS IS MY OVERALL WISHLIST.

So that's it. I know many people here have many more then that. Once I get Carrie, Salems' Lot I will have all the First ed I want (EDIT: Now have both of those). Then I might work on some of the other Limited or just some others with an autograph. Thanks for looking.

That's an admirable collection! You certainly have more high-end books than I do (I don't own any books signed by King). I'm looking forward to some pics of your bookshelves and to your participation in the discussions.

Thanks Biomieg. The signed ones are interesting. The first one I bought was The Drawing of the Three. When I bought it I did not know it was a true S\L. I just thought it was a regular signed book. Then I was able to find books III-VII in one set. So I paid over time and eventually got them. I was also able to get a good first ed Gunslinger. After I registered my books I was able to get LSOE so I bought both the S\L and Art ed. The Night Shift I have on Lay away is singed also. I am not buying it becasue it is signed I am buying it becasue I hardly see an Night Shift books for sale. The Under the Dome was just a signed copy from the publisher.

OK OK. I get the hints:). I will put some up this weekend. Who would of thought that buying Christine would put me on a path to being a King Collector:excited:. That was way back in 2006. I have been collecting ever since. I had the 1990's nailed down on my own but the years before that I had to rely on eBay and private dealers. Also some it the early 2000's I had to get from dealers.

I changed the two ARC's to Promo(for Promotional). I found out with the help of Jhanic that what I thought were proofs were something else. I am going to try and verify what they really are.
EDIT: I think my Dead Zone may also be a "Promo" copy. I will check tonight.

Here is one shelf. In the following pictures you may not be able to see every book I have listed because of where my book case is located but you can see enough of them to get the point.

Thanks. It's kind of cool to hear some one say "I've never seen the review copies of those books before" on this site :). I am sure though that the "value" is not that much more then a first ed of the book. But it's still cool to have something like that in my collection.

Thanks for the welcome. I am nothing if not persistant:P. For some of them I.E Fire Starter, The Dead Zone and Eyes of the Dragon, I did not jump at the first ones I saw. Some of them had dust jakets that looked like they were eaten. I was willing to wait until I saw what I wanted. Cujo was the first book I bought back in 2006 when I decided that I wanted to start collecting. I have been building ever since.

So I decided to check out my DT book II again. I knew it was inscribed but I forgot what it said. I mentioned to David at Betts that I had an inscribed copy so he was wondering what it said. So, I sent him what is inscribed.
It says
"To Kaybird-
With admiraton, respect,
Thanks... and all my love
Steve King
6/14/87"
Then where it says "This is Copy_____ It is written "Authors Copy" Steven signed it again along with Phil in the correct spots.
So that's it. A Mr.Kirby was Mr.Kings agent in the early years of his career. Kbird was Mr. Kirby's sister. I think that is pretty cool:).

Thanks. When I bought that one I did not know that it was a signed limited. The description only said it was signed and inscrobed. I all ready had books 3-7 so I thought that having a signed reg ed would be cool as well. When I saw that it was a limited I was excited:excited:. I thought to my self, even though it is not a matching set, at least I have signed limited editions for 2-7 now. With my first ed I was very happy with my DT set.

MikeDuke
12-15-2010, 04:38 AM
Thanks Carlos. Now I have two books that are singed and inscribed :)>
I don't know Randall. I might look into that at some point but part of me would be worried about the what if... issue. Yea, it is one of the best jackets I have seen. That is one of the reasons I jumped on it. The fact that it is a Non-Library book, no stamps or glue, and that jacket AND the fact that it is signed made me "over look" the stain. If I am not mistaken half of the 12,000 first ed went to Libraries so to get one like this seemed like a good thing.

Well, I got a surprise yesterday. My aunt, who lives in Sarasota FL(she drove up yeterday) was able to get me a signed copy of 11/22/63. She was able to get a wrist band and I think was about the 75th person to get it signed. Plus, she also took 4 pics of him. I also have the flyer about the signing and you can clearly see the poster that it is for that particular signing. So I have all the evidence I need. So I am a happy camper:rock:. I think there were 400 signed books at this event but I am not sure of that.

Been away, but now I am back . Really nothing new on the collection front as other things have taken precedence, but I hope to get back into it soon. But, I am in deep into the DT. I about 3/4 through Wizard and Glass(first book as the signed Wizard is in 2 volumes). I have to admit that I feel like I am running in mud here. I think I just have to push through this section and hope the next volume and books after this one pick up. Plus I am excited about Dr. Sleep. Anyway, I may be popping back in now and again more often.

Bought a regular copy of Dr. Sleep. I went in the back entrance(street entrance) of my B&N and they only had one copy out, the display copy so I bought that one. Obviously in great shape. Not a special ed or anything but at least the collection keeps growing :D.

09-27-2013, 05:38 AM
I could not help my self. I ordered the "Gift ed" of The Shinning(1 of 1500) and the "Anniversary ed" of Christine(1 of 750) from Subterranean Press. I know they are not signed but The Shinning looks cool and Christine is the very first King book I ever read. I hope this publishing company is a good one. I never ordered from them before. The Shinning should be out in Nov and Christine says "out later this year". I shouldn't be worried that Christine doesn't have a date yet right? Have other people ordered stuff with no given release date?

The Library Policeman
09-27-2013, 05:45 AM
You'll be fine with both publishers, Mike. I've bought books from both publishers in the past and I have both these books on order too, and Christine is supposed to be shipping this week! Congratulations on the new orders.

MikeDuke
09-27-2013, 06:17 AM
Thanks. I just wanted to make sure. I wonder if they ship by order of where you are in the line. I am pretty far back probably so even though I just ordered today, the likely hood of me getting it next week is remote. But as long as I get them, I will be happy. Something a bit different to add to the collection. I know think that even though they are not signed, it's still cool to add them to a collection.

MikeDuke
10-07-2013, 05:49 AM
Just talked to Sub Press and they said they still had some of the DR. Sleep UK limited ed(1-700), the one with the cat on the front. Again, not a real sig but still somewhat limited and still cool to have. I did contact them asking if they had any left and since it was still listed on the site, they said that they had some left. So, I ordered one of those too. Man coming back to this forum can really be an issue sometimes :excited:.

Collect what appeals to you and what you can afford. Some stick to gift editions, some buy signed/numbered editions, other buy lettered editions. Some buy everything. Its your collection, and if you are happy with it, then that's all that really matters.

I am excited to see how they look. I am only upset at my self because I remember reading about the signed ed a while ago and then I sort of forgot about them. Well, I got the Christine anniversary book. Number 662 out of 750. I don't think there are any signed versions of this and 750 is not a huge number. It is signed by others like the artist and others. It looks very nice. The art work is really top notch as well. I am glad I went for this one.

You start a thread with your name, then upload the pics. See:

on how to upload the pictures. I personally use Photobucket.

Did any one else find the middle of Wizard and Glass a bit hard to get through? I am pushing forward but some parts seem easier to read then others. I have the signed ed that are split into 2 books and I am more then halfway done the vol 1. It just seems pretty hard to figure out what's going on sometimes. I figure that these are old accounts of things that happened but the book seems to just land you in the middle of something with no transition. And the story with Susannah Delgato is really twisting my brain. I hope it's just this one book and the others get back on the path but one second I seemed to be in a mall parking lot and for the last 100 pages I have been trying to figure out what is going on. Some parts are making more sense when Roland is in the story with Cuthburt. But it's still a bit confusing. For now I am in the middle of a fight in a bar. But there has been no Eddie or Jake at all so I don't know what's going on with them at all. It's just a bit confusing and I just needed to share that.

But there has been no Eddie or Jake at all so I don't know what's going on with them at all. It's just a bit confusing and I just needed to share that.

Actually, the first time through I was a bit anxious as well. You want the over-riding story to continue and that "flashback" seems distracting. However, on subsequent reads it is much more enjoyable IMHO. The first time though, you just have to slog through it. It is germaine to the overall story.

Yea, I intend to keep on going. I just wanted to know if anybody else thought like I did. Some of those flashbacks are confusing, at least to me.

No, I had to stop some place. Christine was the very first King book I read so it holds a special place for me. I basically could not afford to get The Shining and Pet Semetary so I only got The Shining. I am OK with that though. We can't get everything.

Let me say that Dave at Betts is fantastic. Because of him, I was just able to finish "my" first ed collection. I bought a Carrie first ed, that looks to be in pretty nice shape, plus it is flat signed, and I bought a Salems' Lot with a 3rd state dust jacket. I know the Salems' Lot I bought is not the most desirable because it is the 3rd state correct dust jacket, but hey, it's still a first ed. Dave was nice enough to let me do a layaway plan for the books. So once I get them, that's it. I can do more special ed ones. It has taken me 8 years to finish off this part of my collection. Slow and steady wins the race.

Congrats Mike! A complete set of 1sts is my goal too and the only US one I need now is 'salem's Lot. I agonized over that one from Betts for a long time. In the end I passed because I knew one day I would have to replace it with the more desirable one (all my others are both 1st editions and 1st printings). That said, I am glad you have it and the temptation has been taken away from me!!

MikeDuke
07-21-2014, 06:12 AM
Thanks. I think this is still a first ed first printing, it just has the corrected dust jacket. I wanted a 2nd state one, and I may get one down the line, but at least I have something now. I think a lot of people passed for the same reason you did. Plus getting the signed Carrie is also great. I don't have EVERY book he wrote. For ex, I don't have Rose Madder, or Dolores Clayborn, and a few others. I just bought the ones that I really wanted. But I am happy with my collection :).

John
You know John, TBH, I was thinking that it was. My thinking is this. We know they only made 20,000 first ed all together. We also know that about 5 or 6 survived the purge with the Original price and wrong name. Then we know that that they made them with the right price but still the wrong name. Who knows how long that went on before they realized that mistake and made it %100 correct. It is possible the they realized that really late and only did the third state at the very end of the run. I know people like the second state one because of the mistake. It's just like a football or baseball card. If it has a mistake, it could be worth more money. But again, I was doing the calculations in my head and I thought the same thing you did. Plus, I trust David and he feels the same thing I think. I am not upset it's not a 2nd state. "My" first ed collection is done. Now I can focus only on the limited ed ones that I want. I should have them in a few months.

This has nothing to do with my collection but I just listened to an interview with the director of The Stand. He said they green lit a 4 movies to do it right. King seems totally on board. Production to start next year. You can go to Lijia's Library and find a link to it. It sounds like they are doing it right.

As someone who has recently moved on to the considerably more expensive path of collecting S/L's I hope I can provide a view :)

1. Be Patient, the best place to get good quality books at a reasonable price is on this site or from David @ Betts, but you have to check in regularly to get in on a deal!
2. Try and save for the early S/L's -Yes they are the most expensive, but they are also the most special (IMHO) Compare UTD S/L with Firestarter - simply no contest!
3. If (2) is out of the budget and you want to get some nice S/L's for a low price look for a Desperation or Black House both are priced way below the level of quality they are created with
4. Be careful, once you start it's hard to stop!

Thanks Goblin. I have no trouble at all taking my time and saving up. The Firestarter limited is on my list for sure. I am not into all of them. For ex, Cujo just doesn't do anything for me.

You know, a few pages back I thought about the same thing. I had a whole rational about why I thought the third state was a good pickup. even though people like the second state, and typically, I think the third states are selling for less money. The site The Collector has the third state way less then a second state. But I am OK with it. It's still a first ed.

The third state Father Callahan is rarer but, as you say, typically sells for less money. The Father "Cody" dust jacket is the earlier and therefore more desirable to most book collectors (including the vast majority of book collectors who are not necessarily obsessed with collecting King). The collectors searching for the third state are usually King completists and these are fewer in number. Just my opinion.

The fire is already burning pretty hot right now. Trust me, I already trying to get some stuff that I should not. My wish list consists of mainly limited ed now. For ex, Skeleton Crew, Christine, The Regulators, The Talisman. Just to name a few. But I have two other big ones that I would to get as well. I feel good about dealing with Dave over at Betts. I am also going to check to see if some of the ones that are not signed by King, but are like gift ed are out as well. Because the need love too. I just wish I was more in the know when a limited is being put out by a company so I could try and grab it then rather than in the aftermarket where it's always more.

That makes sense. It's just that when I saw it I just jumped on it, because at that point, I had hardly seen any Salems' Lot at all and I wanted at least one. I can see how the early dust jacket would be more desirable. But I am OK with my third state.

You're best bet would be to subscribe to publisher's email lists (CD, Sub Press, PS, etc.). And of course you'll never miss breaking news here on the forum of a new release if ya click the "What's New" tab above often. Editions will not always cost ya more aftermarket. CD's Carrie GE for example can still be had in shrink for $60-$65. They retail for $85 on CD's site. Matter of fact, it's always a good idea to check to see if the publisher still has stock of an edition ya might be looking for. Patience and research can save ya tons. It all depends on supply and demand like anything else as far as what you'll pay.

I've just looked through your thread - seems like your addiction has restarted after a period of being "clean" :) love to see the new volumes gathered on your shelves, if you have any shots?
I have pics on page 7, post 165. And near the beginning of my thread, I have some more pics of my overall collection with some others sprinkled in.

Nice one... Great collection. That Stand S/L is just THE cornerstone piece. Have you decided how you're going to display it yet? I'm still trying to find the right "stand" for it (pardon the pun)...

I am running out of space. Right now I just have it in the Coffin but not facing out. I just have it facing like a regular book. I wish I had more space to display it better. I may try and move some stuff around. But for now, I am just happy I have one

Yes, I just recently got mine and it's plonked there on the shelf, begging for more respect. I keep opening it and holding it, feeling it's weight. I absolutely love the leather covers. My favourite book, hands down. Congrats again.

I want to show it because it looks so freaking awesome, but I also don't want it to get too dusty. We shall see. I still have to make it so I can see some of my other ones better as well. Next step, who knows. I have a few ideas, some cost more than others. We shall see. There is always something cool whether it's just a gift ed or a signed one.

So,
I know it's probably not a popular pick, but I ordered one of the Folio The Shining. I think there are "only" 2000 of them and since I bought one, I am in the running for a signed one. Who knows, maybe I be lucky for once and get one of those as well. But I probably won't. I should get it next month because I did not want to pay the extra $20, I think that's what it was, for shipping.

I got one too and have my fingers crossed for a signed copy. I like the look of it.

MikeDuke

OK, so at least someone else like the look of it besides me . Did you buy one, or just enter the contest. From what I can gather, there are about 2,500 of these including the ones that are signed. So even a non-singed one will be a little rare.

I am bad. I mean I think I have an addiction. Even though I just bought The Stand a few months ago AND I ordered that new Shining, I just bought a s\l Fire Starter from Dave. He said he just got it in. I broke the payments up into two months. So my S\L side is slowly being built. Christine is one that I REALLY want as well. Plus a few others but this was unexpected. Man this is a dangerous habit I have stumbled into.

Be patient with Christine and you'll be able to find one for a good price. And remember - Christine DJs are still available from Grant for $20 if you find one that's less than perfect.

As for the addiction, all I can say is you are in good company!

Thanks everyone. This is less a support group and more of an enabling group :mad1:. I did not think I would make it this far. I just know though, that there are certain lines I can't cross. That's a cool way of looking at it Carlos. So now that I have The Stand and I technically have Firestarter, Christine is on the list. The Tailsman is also a must. And the Regulators, because I like the book and that toy box is too cool not to have. Then, I don't know. Do I want "small books like six stories or Dolan's Cadillac? Do I want Cujo even though I am not that impressed with how it looks? I do like the way Skeleton Crew looks so that may be on the list. Do I add Eyes of the Dragon to my wish list. See some are musts and some are, yea it would be cool if I had them. So that's where I am at. I also may look at something like Insomnia, even though it may not appreciate, it's a book I really like. So that's the place I am in now.

All right everyone, I need some help here. David just looked at my Fire Starter a bit closer. He said that while it is signed in the correct spot for the limitation, it is also Inscribed and signed AGAIN. So a double signature. even though the inscription is to someone else. He gave me a choice (Dave is great). He said I could take that one, or because some people may not like inscriptions. he would give trade me his that is also signed by the artist. And then he would keep the double King signed one. So the question is, what do I do. Do I take the double King and inscribed one, or the one singed by the artist as well, since it did not come that way from the company.

Randall Flagg

Simple.
Take both.

05-25-2016, 01:10 PM
This is a very nice problem to have. For me, I'd go the 2 X signed and inscribed. I personally love inscriptions (even to other people) - adds history and character IMO (and for flat-signed, adds evidence to judge - though this is not applicable for this book). I think having that on a S/L Firestarter would be very cool.

carlosdetweiller
05-25-2016, 01:15 PM
I wouldn't take the double signed/inscribed copy. Just my opinion. S/L's should be kept as issued and that is what I would look for to put in my collection.

So, do you take the one that Whelan signed also or just wait for an unaltered S/L? I think this is a toss up. IMO it is sort of cool that the artist signed it but I'm not sure I would take that one either. But then I am probably different than most. I don't even like the artist drawings that some have done in their S/L's. If I am getting a drawing done I will get it in a trade or gift edition.

Personally I would probably take neither and wait for an unaltered copy. You probably need to consider resale too. It will be easier, IMO, to sell an unaltered copy.

Well, thank you, but I'm not sure that is entirely accurate. Still, would you be willing to tell my wife that?

MikeDuke
05-26-2016, 03:42 AM
Well, here is the thing. I am already paying on this. It was only when David really inspected the book did he notice that it was also inscribed. I am not the kind of guy to back out of a deal.
And I already have an inscribed and signed first ed of Night Shift and and signed and inscribed Authors Copy of Drawing of the three (Signed in the right place but it also has an inscription and
another SK signature). David said he is cool with either choice I make. Still thinking...

carlosdetweiller
05-26-2016, 03:48 AM
It might make a difference to whom the book is inscribed. If the inscription is to someone close to King or a well known name in the publishing business (an association copy) then that would be different. Otherwise, if it were me, I would go with the one signed by Whelan.

MikeDuke
05-26-2016, 04:39 AM
Hey Carlos,
The inscription is real simple. It only says "To Dick, Good wishes" Stephen King. No date or anything. I was think on the one hand, a double signature may increase the value of the book (Dave thought so also).
But on the other, having it signed by the artist is cool also because that makes it like one of the other limited ed's that are signed by both. I emailed David explaining my thoughts. The book is already pretty valuable
and I don't think having the artist's name would lower the value. Since Dave doesn't mind, I may be leaning towards his copy. If it was an Authors copy, like you said, that would be different. But that does not
seem to be the case. I will wait for Dave to get back to me and then I will probably do a switch.

becca69
05-26-2016, 04:47 AM
I agree with Bob, go with the Whelan signature!

MikeDuke
05-26-2016, 05:05 AM
I think I am leaning towards that. Dave said I could take as much time as I needed to decide. But I may email him later and let him know I will go
in that direction. Dave said he would just keep the double signed one himself and get Michael to sign it later. It must be nice to have those kind of contacts.

MikeDuke
05-26-2016, 06:09 AM
OK. We have another option on the table. Dave said that it is possible to also get the one I am buying, the double signed one, also signed by Michael. So it would be double signed by King, inscribed by King and signed by Michael as well. Wow, three signatures, by two people in one book with an inscription also. More choices.

MikeDuke
05-26-2016, 07:23 AM
So whether is popular or not, I went with the above option. It just seemed like the right thing to do. I mean, if I did not do that, Dave said he would just do that. So if it's good enough for Dave, it should be good enough for me.

Thought I'd swing by your collection since you were nice enough to comment on my collection. I went back through your thread and you have some really cool items, too: the review copies, the DOTT incribed to Kay, the inscribed Night Shift and the double signed Firestarter :) As far as the discussion above, I just try to buy what makes me happy and not worry so much about resale. I do enjoy reading the conflicting opinions and the rationale behind them. In my opinion, no one is wrong and no one is right, it's just what works best for you.

Thanks for stopping by and the nice words about my collection. I am trying to build a nice one. Like I said I have been a fan for 30 years. I just got my Folio Shining. Many people had mixed feelings about it, but I like it. I looked at the pictures and while it's a different style, I like them. When I looked at them, my mind immediately went to that part of the story. I like it. To be honest, I am not worried about resale either. I am buying stuff that peaks my interest. So yes, the Fire Starter was an unexpected purchase but what the hell. Now that I bought the Stand and Fire Starter, I only have a few must have books left. So, I just keep plugging along trying to do my best. In a few months, I will have that Fire Starter. That will be another good one. So, thanks again for stopping in. The door is always open to a constant reader .

Going to pay Dave the second part of the price today. I think Dave said he is seeing Michael in July so I won't get it until then. That's OK though. It's still a good one in my opinion. brand new. So I am a happy camper

Just bought S\L Regulators #84. pics of booth books hopefully soon.
"check made out to Julie Lowry for Mi-dol"
Remember, in the Stand, Tom Cullin met Nick Andros. Tom ate too many apples and Nick said he would go get some pepto. She was in the store when Nick went in. They had fight and Nick left. You could tell she was crazy. Then she starts shooting at them. They get away though. So the Mi-dol for her is great, if you know what I mean :excited:. So I think it's a good one.

I was told by David that the toy box is in pretty good shape. Just a bit of rubbing but it's one of the better ones he has seen. I also made two other changes. Somehow, my Stand Complete and uncut has vanished. Not my limited, but the trade. I don't know what happened to it so I took it off my list. But I did buy the new Gwendy's Button box regular ed. I will get to it eventually. So I am up to 45 first ed. So not that bad. Sill, I am in awe of a lot of collections here but I am doing my best :D

Thanks Brian.
I can't afford the lettered. Although I would love one. I think Randall is right, it's closer to $7,000. At least that's what the site "The Collector" says. I will be happy with this.
I just have to understand that I started collecting late and all the limited ones I want cost money. The only limited I was able to grab while it was in print was "Under the Dome".
I glad I got it, but it is pretty weak. I never see the limited ed when they come out and the sell out so fast. The ones I have listed on the first page are really the only ones I can
get. I would love to get one when it comes out though. If one comes out for the book next year, maybe I will be lucky, but playing catch up is hard.

10-16-2017, 05:21 AM
Yea. Now we are talking amounts that I would have a very hard time doing. Would I like a Regulators Lettered sure. What about a Salems' Lot Limited, I would take that. I am sure there are others I don't even know about that are limited ed. There are so many s\l that are out there that are probably beyond my means. So I will just have to focus on the ones I can get. Hopefully it's still a few more. The ones I have listed on the front page I think I can get. Then we shall see about other S\L and Signed first ed. But the really expensive stuff will probably always elude me.

Interesting info on IT. "The Collector.com" Broke down the printing of IT. I do have a true 1st/1st. 400,000 of these were made. Even though some of the other printings were fewer (still all 1st ed), the collector said that the 1st/1st is more desirable became it came out first. Sort of like my Salems' Lot being less desirable, even though there may be less because it came out later. I doubt it makes it more valuable, I am just glad I have a real first ed.
For more info on this including the other printing amounts you can go to Tom's website, IT section:
http://www.stephenkingcollector.com/1st/it.html
It breaks down everything very well.

Updated first page for Salems' Lot. Info from this site may indicate that my book is not a true 1st\1st. It is more likely a first ed 2nd printing :pullhair:. That means I have to get another one that is the mistake one.
