We shall se Kris. We shall see. But the light is really dim now. I was so stupid because back when this came out, I was really just starting to try and get a nice collection and I thought $900+ (EOTD+Misery) was
a lot back then. Of course now I have spent more than that on books but the Misery isn't even a Holy Grail any more. It's made of un-obtainum. I just can't do it Kris. It's a mistake that I made and will
just have to live with it.

Sometimes I give up on things, but only temporarily - I just set the concern aside, knowing that circumstances (like specialty book markets and personal budgets) may, and likely will, eventually change in ways I can’t foresee. I’m not saying we’re all gonna one day get everything we want - but like a book, you can put the worry on the shelf for now and return to it later. Who knows what the future holds...

I like the upbeat vibe in my thread. But I have circumstances beyond financial that prevent me from getting books that expensive. If someone doesn't care, and wants to take a bath and sell me one for $2,700, I am your guy.
But I really don't see it happening at todays prices.

So I got SWTWC from CP. Wow. It's a very impressive book. It's a beast. Big tall and heavy. It has a two part case like Horns from Suntup has. The artwork is awesome. The extras in the back are really cool. I can't wait to take a closer look at it. But I am very glad I got it. Pics, if anybody is interested a bit later. But boy is this a keeper.

Nice Mike. Not sure if you noticed but there is a plastic protective film on the spine illustration that you can peel off. Also have you checked out the 3D images with the glasses provided? They are pretty cool when you get the hang of looking at them... it's the images where there are two side-by-side.

When you see it in person Brian, it is really stunning. I guess I should have been ready for the size of the book and case because of Salems' Lot but it still caught me of guard.
When you see it next to a "regular" book the difference is insanse.

Got something very special today. I received my BOBD proof, with letter, that was part of the John H. collection. It looks great and I am very happy to have it in my collection. I have another one that I will be paying off over time and I think people will really like that one. At least, I hope they do. But since I am paying over time I won't have it right away. I hope I can at least one or two more items from the collection that David is listing. But we shall see. Pics of BOBD later.

OK. I got all my stuff from Jon's collection that I ordered. First is the black FDNS proof. There are only 10 of these made. I think this was also called a gallery proof. Makes me feel kind of good to have it.
The other items were The Regulators Manuscript in comb binding, only 12 made and the Desperation 2nd state Manuscript (blank covers) only 12 made.
Picks when I can but I am happy to have them in my collection.

I know that was a lot but that's what I get for not doing each book as I get them. These last three were really great but I think I have to say that 1984 is closest to top that Suntup has put out, IMHO.
The fact that the case is somewhat clear, Big Brother is always watching. The fact that the papers resemble a non-descript office building where everything is the same with no individuality.
And the art in the book, OMG. This might be the best art work I can remember seeing in a Suntup book. I mean it it just so damn fantastic. Like I said, this near the top productions for me so far.
I am so happy that I am aboard the Suntup train.

It's worth it, IF you feel it's worth it. Odds are long trying to find a matching portfolio out there in the wild. One should either buy the matching portfolio number at publication, or put less emphasis on a matching # that is often just hand written, and more emphasis on the actual art.
Many collectors (myself included) just store the portfolio, and it rarely sees the light of day. Very unlike the book which is almost always displayed.

The numbered hasn’t been released yet. The artist has and not sure about the lettered but I think it has the same flaw the numbered had that Paul is fixing.

Steve, I have the AE of Let The Right One In but I won't be keeping it. I am using it as part of a trade along with some other AE later to get something else so since I wasn't keeping it, I did not want it in that shot. I will still keep the pics up though just to see what it looks like. But that's the reason.

Kris, when I say it's perfect, I can not find a single flaw. Lettering is bright. Not one bent corner. Straight edges. I think it's perfect. Others with more experience can
judge for themselves, but really, it is flawless. It's too bad my book has that damn spine sep. Still, this is probably at least a $1,200-$1,500 book now.

As far as a trade, that's how I got this DJ so I don't have another one. So, I really can't trade it away. Sorry :(. Just wait until you see the pics then you can live
vicariously through me, as I live vicariously through you. My goal is to get the best Double Day books I can. I don't know if I will be able to find another
Salems'. So that leaves my signed Carrie (which is not perfect because of spine lean :angry_002:) and a better Stand DJ.

There is yellow on the front, there is yellow on the Spine and to me, the front and back look like the have the same brightness. In a few days I can take some detailed pics if you like,
but I would put it at perfect. One more thing, you can clearly see all the colors on the Croquet mallet. I know it's not Croquet, but I forget the name of it. But the colors are really bright. Yes, some of the lions are lighter but I think it's supposed to be like that. The front an back have the that green tint.

It's not cloth. It's a much harder material than that. But the blue and sliver go great together. Yea, the Night Shift is cool, and the fact that it glows
in the dark is even cooler. I need to check that out to see what it looks like. All in all, not a bad week.
