Thanks Alan. Yea, I am pleased with what I have acquired this year. We shall see if I can squeeze one more in though (not counting Suntup). I hope people like what I have on the way.
Including this and the Suntup that were bought before but shipped this year, this book will
make 25 books total. Mostly Suntup, but some signed and unsinged King in there as well. So I am happy with this year so far.

I should be ok Frank. I still have some space left, although I am getting creative now. I should get it on Mon.
Plus, Ralph said he has another item that he might be able to get for me. It sounds interesting, but I can't get it until I
am done paying this new item off.

Yeah, I did that too and found my 2nd copy (Printed in Canada), for about 2 bucks. What a ripoff!
Seriously though, I was extremely lucky in finding the Bachman paperbacks. I found two copies of THE RUNNING MAN still on the shelf in a bookstore. I bought both of them.

I have told a few people here, but this is sort of like a family also, so I will share with anybody who ends up in here.
I was diagnosed with stomach cancer, if I remember in Nov. It sucks. I feel though that I will beat this, at some point.
This is a tough one because of it's location and I read that stomach cancer is very bad. But, with the meds I am on and the infusions
I am getting, my numbers are getting better. In a about 2 months I go back for a major look to see what is going on,
but every three weeks I go for my infusion. Yea, again, it really sucks. I have no idea if this will go away. So that's
all I have to say at this point.

Thanks everybody. Again, it may take awhile. Hopefully when they take blood next Wed, it will show an improvement, and when I go for the major check up, it will
be a big one. I heard stomach cancer is tough and maybe last your entire life. Hopefully we can shrink it down to where it's not as sever.
Again, thanks you everybody. And Steve, I need you too. Who else will point my grammar mistakes.

I got something that I think is special. I got a 1 of 20 Red portfolios from Insomnia. I really liked that book. Most of the Red portfolios were incomplete. Mine
is not only complete, but has an extra that maybe no other portfolio has. I got it from Ralph and this is what he said about it.

"Glimmer Graphics released 400 signed Insomnia Folders. 380 numbered in a black folder and 20 numbered in a red folder.
The red folders are numbered 1-20. The black folders are numbered 21-400.

The numbered red folders (numbered 10-20) were supposed to have an original drawing to accompany each red folder. Not all the originals got turned in for the project. Only 6 or 7 originals were turned in. Not sure what happened, but that is the story from Glimmer. That means 3 or 4 of the red portfolios never received the originals to complete the project. This one, “Number 20” (the last one in the red group) is accompanied by the prelim original Insomnia drawing in pencil, but also includes Hales different attempts/practices at the “Insomnia” drawing on the back of the original. This is believed to be Phil’s earliest attempts at the Insomnia drawings. “Number 20” also includes an additional duplicate plate signed by King and Hale without the numbering on it. All 400 published folders (Red or Black) were published with the same six color plates with one of the six being signed by King and Hale with the limitation numbering.

RED Folder #20
5 Color Plates
1 Color Plate with King and Hale signatures and numbered #20
1 Original in pencil (Approx. 8.5 x 11 or a tad larger) Pre lim drawings on back of this original

Bonus:

1 Additional plate signed by King and Hale (This is the plate used for the front of Insomnia S/L)"

pics hopefully this weekend. But it is very cool and I think rare. I hope people like it.

Yea, I am just in a physical funk recently.
I can sympathize. A few months ago the only "break" I could get was fractured ribs.
Ice the first few days, then transition to a heat pad. Keep a pillow handy to hug if you have to cough or sneeze.
It takes 3-12 weeks for bruised/fractured rib(s) to heal.

So, I went to get a PET scan on Tues. It showed that the tumor in my stomach has gone down 65%, but there may be something on my neck. So
we need to check that out. But I am happy about the stomach.

I shared this with a few people, but I am going to share publicly. For the last couple of months I have been fighting stomach cancer. That is a bad one. If not caught early, the survival rate is not good.
But, we did catch it early so that's a good thing. My last PET scan showed that the therapies I am on have shrunk the tumor 60%. I think I have another one in 2 months? I don't remember. Plus
my white cell count and red cell count have improved. And my Hemoglobin which was at 5 or 6 has gone up to at least 10. So things are going in the right direction. Collecting and my HT have helped
me along the way.

Well, that's it for now.

MikeDuke
06-27-2023, 11:47 AM
Pictures to come at some point, but this is what I got from Ralph
Original by Alex McVey on clay board used by Cemetery Dance for the limited print. 1 of 1
Original "Road Closed" print done by Alex. 1 of 1
First Edition by Cemetery Dance
First Edition Baseball Card In the Custom Wooden Case

Signed by King US First Edition with extra story. He did not do a tour for this. I think this was around the time of the car accident so he couldn't tour. (All Scribner US first prints had the extra story, but Cemetery Dance release didn't) less than 10 were signed
UK First Edition with extra story
Cemetery Dance First Limited Print
Cemetery Dance Baseball Card (housed in special area of the custom wood case)
Cemetery Dance Proof
White proof 5 for collectors.

Now, I don't know what people will think of this because it's the BB book and not something more popular like Misery, The Shining, The Stand... etc. But I am happy to have it in my collection. I am not going to say what I paid for it, but I believe it's worth more. If anybody has ideas on what this may be worth, I am open to what your thoughts are.

Blockade Billy is of course not a novel. In fact, it's not even a novella. It's simply a short story that CD asked King to allow them to do a S/L and other versions of.
Of course (IMO) CD did a very nice job of their productions.
The art by Alex McVey was not what one would expect-in fact it was pretty damn unexpectedly not what one would imagine McVey doing. In that regard it was a very pleasant surprise.

This is clay board and a paper sign that is one of one. No other versions exists. Plus the card as well. This will eventually go in a shadow box
that I will take a picture of once I get it.
http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/20230628_162112.jpg?659
Here is info from Alex McVey about it:
"As far as medium, yes, it is ink on clay board, which is Masonite that has a thin coat of white clay
on one side. I like doing my drawings on this, because they're so much more durable than ink on
paper. Plus, you'll notice that I can fill in large areas with black ink, and literally lift lights spots
out of it, by scratching it with a scratchboard knife and revealing the white from the clay. The
scratch technique really shows up in the grass."

The small BB road sign I did for you is an original done with Pointillism. A technique of painting
in which small, distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image. I obviously
like using black.

Again. These are one of one. No other editions of this exist.

Steve, do you remember that proof site that was out there? People from here even contributed to the site?
This is a direct quote from that site:
"16 copies of the white proof, of which eight went to reviewers, three were damaged, leaving a total of five for collections."

Health update:
From what the doctors said, it has gotten a lot better, but I will probably (might) be on chemo for the rest of my life because the kind of cancer I have is a bitch. So that really sucks. I am hoping that isn't the case, but that's what it sounded like to me. We will keep on doing what I am doing and see where I am in another six months. I may get the books in two weeks. Plus, besides the other two, I have something really cool coming from Ralph again.
Not signed, but pretty rare to have a complete set. So, some good stuff coming my way.
Plus, I have ANOTHER deal with Ralph once I do the other two which is really cool.

BTW. what do people feel about PC editions. I may have a chance at a lettered PC. I am going to get it to help build my
lettered collection. I was just wondering.

So, I got my first package from Ralph. A first Backman Long walk that looks amazing. A blaze proof and a first ed Danse Macbre published by Everest house.
Plus, I have more stuff that Ralph is sending next week.

I’ve always been on the fence about PC editions. Not sure why, but I usually try for a number or letter of at all possible. Just me, I’m sure others have opinions……

I am the same way, but it still a lettered ed and looks like a lettered ed. Plus, it would be the only PC I would have in my collection.
I also will try to stick to just signed first, numbered, and if I can afford them lettered. For instance, I would love a lettered
Shining, but Ralph said they hardly are on the market. Or maybe other more "affordable" lettered book.

Yes, at least you have the lettered edition regardless if it’s PC! I have no SK lettered editions. Have some by other authors and the extra value in them is always nice. Looking forward to seeing what you have acquired!!

I am still thinking about it. But I do I have 3 newer get's, but I am only going to post 2 because one of them needs a DJ. I will post that one when I get it. The other two I will try and do tomorrow.

Thanks guy's. Like I said, Ralph is sending out more stuff on Wed. Then I have 3 more cool items. Then even more stuff after
that. But after the three items, which will take a while, I am taking a short break. I need a rest after all this stuff.

Got my stuff from Ralph. A mixture of King and Barker. I am done with Barker. It was a phase and now it's over. Only
King and Suntup from now on. Starting tomorrow I will post pics. It may take a while, but there is a real cool King
item, even though it's not signed, to have a complete "set" is some what rare.

That's it for my Barker collecting. I want to focus on King and my Suntup collecting. Next will be a few King proofs.
