We have 4 beautiful entries for our 2010 Donation Wall Image Contest. I really appreciate everyone who turned one in.

Each of these 4 people is entered into the Talisman/Black House Gift Set we are giving away for the final cycle. They will also be entered into the Grand Prize drawing if not already in.

I'm just going to send the winner something special, not sure what yet. :fairy:

Two of these images were created by new members and I think that is terrific. :grouphug:

These are in no particular order.

So please vote on one of the images below.

I like them all a great deal, but I could only choose one so here's my analysis of the ones I didn't choose. Please remember, these are only my opinions and they carry no weight with anyone:

Image 1: Very ethereal, very awesome, but the Crimson King's symbol seemed to overwhelm the other parts.

Image 2: My favorite piece here. However, the gunslinger looks dead. If I were the artist, I'd call this one Last Smoke.

Image 4: It feels like there is too much in the image already.

Wow, Woofer, you & I were really on the same wavelength concerning this.
Image 1: Very ethereal, very awesome, but the Crimson King's symbol seemed to overwhelm the other parts.

Image 2: My favorite piece here. However, the gunslinger looks dead. If I were the artist, I'd call this one Last Smoke.
Both of these are, like, my thoughts exactly!

Image 4 I didn't choose just because I'm not so much into Gunslinger Born-era Roland.

I don't know if it's proper, as the creator of entry #2, to answer some of the posts? If not, please delete this. Thnx!

It was created in GIMP (poor man's photoshop lol) and I didn't show the tower on purpose. It's my vision of the first line of the first book, "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed."

I created a literal "blank slate", (with no logo's/wording), because the criteria list said to leave it blank. I made the assumption that all the extra's would be added afterward and that they would need to be sized accordingly. Sorry mine looks so plain.

And to those who said he looked dead lol, you don't know how true that is! It's actually a bronze statue of a cowboy in the Ukraine. I colored him of course but it was impossible to find a stock image of a real western style man that could pass for Roland. I thought once the logo's and donator names where spilled across it, it would look fine. Your comments were just too funny lol.

BTW they are all gorgeous entries!
I personally voted for #1. Love the colors and the softness!

I just read AsylumWitch's post on how she made image 2 - i love how you took a bronze statue and colourized it! that's AWESOME. it looks so real, exactly how i imagine roland ( cuz you can't really see this guy's face).

and it'll look even AWESOMER (not a word, i know) when logo and wording are added! :).

i can understand people wanting the tower present, but i can also understand why AsylumWitch didn't put it in (though, imo, it could maybe be way off in the distance - kind of hazy/transparent or something...almost like Roland is dreaming it...or something lol. i dunno, just rambling now!

We still have 4 days here but it looks like we have a clear winner.

I would like to thank everyone involved. The winner will receive...

One (1) entry in every single giveaway next year including the Grand Prize. :excited:

The winner will also be entered into this years Grand Prize drawing if not already entered.

Anyone who has been following our fundraiser knows this is a really cool way to win some great King collectibles.

I won't say it's #2 yet but I sure appreciate you creating it AsylumWitch.

That should be two separate names for sure!

Same with "MonteGss Nerak" - Two separate.

And is it Lisa Dickenson or Lisa Dickson?

Matt
06-14-2010, 04:03 AM
I noticed those, just figured she was saving space by putting them on the same line, not that they are one name. Maybe a hyphen between?

AsylumWitch
06-14-2010, 07:46 PM
Hi all.

First, I literally had to guess at the names because I am not familiar with most everyone here and the name list came in one large continuously running paragraph. It had no comma's separating the names and it was not a list at all. The fact that it had user names mixed up with RL names and even a business made it all the more difficult. And btw, Pamela came to me as Pamala. I type what I see.

I'm very sorry if I put two people on the same line. My apologies to anyone that was offended. It was not my intent to condense people to save space! That would be a very tacky thing to do, especially for the donation wall.

So, let me see if I have it right...

*It's Pamela not Pamala
*MonteGss and Nerak are two people
*Shibus and Woofer are two people

That's in addition to the newest names in the two PM's, right?

Okay, I'll do it tomorrow. If anyone see's any other changes please let me know asap. The names are not difficult but it's not as simple as typing them on the page either. As I told Matt, it's not a five minute fix. The font size will obviously have to be adjusted slightly but that means everything else on the page will also need adjusting. I would like to make all these changes just one more time.

I'm delighted that you all enjoyed my piece and I'm honored that it will be a featured piece here. Thank you for your kind words of praise.

Nikki

Nikki - No worries at all, regarding my name spelling. Actually, it made me laugh. I hope you didn't take offense.

Your image is amazing, sorry if I came off as critical. We all surely appreciate all the work you put into making it.

With regards to your three bullet items ... yes, all three are correct.

Also, I sent a PM to Lisa regarding the spelling of her name, I might be wrong on that one ( ie - Dickenson ).

Matt ?? Are "Patrick" and "PS Publications" one person? Or is that Patrick ( our patrick ) and also PS Publications?

Matt
06-15-2010, 12:15 PM
Yes, they are two different people.

I had no idea the list came over as a paragraph, when I sent it the names were all separated by lines so that is my fault.

One thing I did catch, though. If I'm not mistaken, Ralph Mullins should be Mulleins.

Just curious, but did Stephen King make an actual donation through the site, or is he cutting a separate check or something on top of the total? Either way that's fantastic.
