Since this hasn't shipped yet, I am changing the release to March, 2012.
Alec contacted me earlier with a discovery he had noted. He owns 3 copies of this book and earlier today noticed that there are differences between the tray cases.
Here are the first 2:

Note the bands of pattern in the leather, on the first two the top starts with the larger scale texture and on the 3rd it starts with the smaller. My copy is similar to Alec's 3rd book, but again there are subtle differences:
Clearly the leather has been custom printed for each book (much like Suntup's EOTD) but it would be interesting to see if the pattern changes significantly on others books.

Not custom printed for each book. The sheet of leather is printed with the pattern of large scales fading to small scales. The cases are then cut from whatever part of the sheet is next.
