    A trade edition is an edition sold in bookstores. It is made available to the trade for resale hence the name. If a book was not sold in bookstores it is not a trade edition.

    Cemetery Dance = First edition
    Scribner = First trade edition

    I think the Scribner has a place in the catalog. Second printings do not.

    1st trade used to be first sold in bookstores, but bookstores are almost nonexistent.
