This is just up for discussion. Should the Cemetary Dance "trade" edition actually be called the Trade HC? Or should it be called a "gift" edition with the trade edition being the Scribner hardcover? Because the CD edition was only 10,000 copies and the Scribner being 500,000, which should be correct?

Personally, I've termed the CD edition the gift edition and the Scribner the trade. But I'm just not sure.

I say no. The CD version is the 1st trade Edition. The Scribner is a reprint.

Several king Trade Editions had less than 10,000 copies.

Probably the only similar entries to the Catalog are:

Gunslinger, The (DTI) - Trade HC 1st Ed.
Gunslinger, The (DTI) - Trade HC 2nd Ed.
Gunslinger, The (DTI) - Trade HC 3rd Ed.
Gunslinger, The (DTI) [Revised] - Trade HC Viking

The Viking was listed as it was a 'Revised' addition, having notable textual changes from DTI. Being the website is www.thedarktower.org we list more items related to the DT series than other titles. There comes a point where time constraints do not allow us to post every edition, cover, variable etc. for King's work. I don't think King's website is so thorough.
People like Rocky Wood, Bev Vincent, David Rawthorne, Norma Blackburn etc. do that for a living-and do a great job.
I propose this; we leave the title as is for now. It can always be edited.
If members feel we should add the CD 2nd printing AND the Scribner version, we will.
    Titling would be something like:
Blockade Billy - Trade HC 1ST ED.
Blockade Billy - Trade HC 2ND ED.
Blockade Billy - Trade HC Scribner

    Thoughts?

Looks okay to me! I'm just not sure--that's why I brought up the question.

We do not list 2nd printings or reprints for any other books in the catalog. (DT excepted). Why should we for Blockade Billy?

The US first edition is the CD one, and the UK first edition is the Hodder & Stoughton one.

I guess my basic problem with listing the CD edition as the trade first is that it was never offered by any bookstores--online or brick--as would a "normal" trade edition. Thus, I termed it the "gift" edition. I guess it comes down to what the definition of a "trade edition" really is. As I said before, though, this is just out for discussion.

To my thinking any book that is not a signed limited or mmpb (including "gift editions" ) is a trade.

Revisiting this thread 7 years later...

The problem of not including the Scribner Trade 1st is that there is no record of it on the site (other than the discussion thread). It was only because of an update to that thread that I looked at my bookcase and realised I didnt have a copy of the Scribner edition. (quickly resolved )

Regardless of "true 1st edition" I think it deserves it's own entry as 1st edition (it does have the full numberline after all). This site is all about providing the best SK book info on the planet, right?
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
