First time I’ve ever seen or heard of a proof with a dust jacket. I seem to have a lot of firsts in your thread. Congrats on the add.

Thanks Adam. I also have a UK Christine proof with a DJ. Also a Desperation US proof with a proof DJ - but I'm not sure if that originally had it when issued. I have also seen UK IT proof with a DJ. I think a few UK proofs around the 1980s era had DJs.
To answer John's question about whether the DJ is a proof DJ or just a 1st DJ. I have had a closer look and it is a proof DJ. Unlike the 1st DJ, the proof DJ has a different author photo on the rear and there is a credit for the photograph on the rear flap of 1st DJ which is missing on the proof DJ. Otherwise they are identical.
Proofs with Dust Jackets. Just when you think you have seen it all.
Jon, you mention the UK IT proof having a dust jacket.... do you have any pictures? I have never seen one and my copy is nice.. BUT no jacket...

Thanks, Jon. That's one I haven't seen before. I have a few, mostly US ones.
John
Hi all,
my IT UK proof came with a dustjacket. Here are some pictures. The DJ is identical to the 1st edition one. They chopped a bit off the bottom to make it fit the proof. The front and back cover wraps around by a centimeter, so I think in this case they didn't make a special DJ for the proof, but used the 1st edition ones. I bought it from a bookseller, I presume he received it like this back in 1986. The DJ was a surprise when I got it.
The UK IT proof!
I want one too!
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.
And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...
That’s the one! Nice, congratulations Vincent.
Seeing all these UK proofs is really neat. I have seen so very few of them, and it's fascinating to compare with the UK editions.
Congrats, Jon.
The only proofs I have or have seen are soft cover (except for the UK partial stand. I think that's a hard cover. I have not heard of a hardback proof with a DJ. My 4 proof are all soft back and all but three have some kind of real cover. The Talisman is the only one that does not. It's still all interesting.
The UK Stand partial proof is softcover. The only hc proof I can think of is the ABA version of Gerald's Game, which was issued in a cardboard slipcase with no dust jacket.
John
OK. In the pic it looks like a hardback. Thanks for the correction.
So, I could make a jacket pretty easy for my proof copy where it is the same. Thank you for sharing.. is that HOW IT came? With the jacket, from the publisher? Can we confirm that?

I sent the seller an email about this, I'll let you know. The ebay listing said the seller got it at his bookshop, I think back in 1986. He read it and his mother read it.

I love that UK IT proof. I don't collect proofs - but I'm tempted to try to find that one. Congratulations to Jon AND Vincent for owning a copy!
(The UK PB edition of IT was the first King novel I read.)
