Strange how the title wasn't translated into French.
That was a very good buy!
John
If the printing date is feb-march 1988, then yep it is a 1st ed.
Are you willing to get rid of it?
There are other exemple like this:Strange how the title wasn't translated into French
o The 1st french ed of Dead Zone was called "l'accident" but then the title got back to Dead Zone (i guess coz of the movie)
o Dreamcatcher
o Creepshow
The weirdest is probably From a Buick 8. It have been published under the name of Roadmaster...
Finally, one can be confusing : Danse Macabre, is the french title of Nightshift Collection... and the english title of the essay about horror, while it have been published under the french name of Anatomie de l'horreur
Pretty cheap MrRabbit!

Ari,
The Brodart site is a little difficult to navigate in my opinion.
Here is the direct link to the covers I use.
Brodart Fold-On® Archival
I keep two or three sizes on hand, and like to use a cover that is a little longer than the dust jacket itself to make sure it is completely covered.
The height of the cover is never exactly the height of the just jacket, so just use a slightly taller cover and fold it down. It takes some practice, but is not too difficult.

All this GREAT information should be moved to its own thread in the Collecting Tutorials forum. It'll be a lot easier to find then.

Excellent idea John. I created the thread and copied the last few posts into it.
I would specifically get the kind that are designed not to stick together. I've gotten a few batches that were problematic once the books were on the shelves.
Hello collectors
first of, let me just say that I have never collected anything seriously, so I'm very new to stuff like this. therefore my question might be dumb.
Now, yesterday I noticed my copy of The Stand is a bit "bugged". One of the pages/sheets isn't cut correctly, so there's a piece of paper sticking out. It's as someone took a small piece of paper and taped it to the page (but without the tape of course, it's just a natural extension of the page). As you can see, I don't really know how to explain it in english, so I'll post a picture tomorrow or something.
The question is, would this be worth something?
I know misprints and stuff like that is worth more than the standard books, so I have to ask!
Some are born to sweet delight,
some are born to the endless night.
What you are describing is a fairly common error in printing that doesn't make the book any more valuable. All that happened is that a page got turned under during the printing process, then the pages were cut with the mistake. It's not a big deal. I'd use such a book as my reading copy.
John
thanks for the reply jhanic!
All my books are "the reading copy", so this one will remain so
Some are born to sweet delight,
some are born to the endless night.
Thanks for helping John.
I'm going to merge this into our Collecting Questions thread.
From the Mod at SKMB:
Right now he's working on the edits for Under the Dome. He did finish a novella called Mortality but I don't think that's been sold for publication yet.
We all eagerly await any scraps King throws our way.
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
Questions for all of you:
I sold 2 partial DT sets over the weekend. Prices I got were decent, but far from what they would have brought even a year ago. I have enough from the proceeds to buy all the LSOE sets I want.
I still have 2 partial sets left, bith numbers under 500 and one is a very low number.
My question is this: Is the current market the best we are going to see for the DT sets for the foreseeable future, in which case I should try to sell my other 2 partial sets while the getting is decent (I won't say good)? Or should I acquire the matching number LSOE S/L and AE (with another chance at a remarque) and sell the whole thing later?
What is your opinion please?
Thanks

Agreed. And when the scraps are novellas, we're even more eager!
(And Rabbit Trick, you should also post this up in the Oracle!)
John
Speaking as someone who owns no S/Ls - wiz, I would get the the LSoE and add those. Since I can't get the S/L of those, if I get a set eventually - I would want those included. Just from my perspective.
