Appreciate all the time and effect you're putting in, Simon! That bite in regards to the slow stock. Might have to resort to eBay to finish out a set. I ordered 8 copies from Amazon which won't ship til September 30. Not telling what I'll end up with.

Not sure if a photo has been posted of the peacock. Found this on Twitter.
Wanted: Human skin edition of The Book of the Dead. Will accept PC copy.
Can someone check and report who the artists(s) is, as well as if their is a book designer, etc.?
so I did manage to get one or two copies today...
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

its hard to photo the true 'purple' of the embossing...

Wow Simon, you've been a busy Goblin!
Wanted: Human skin edition of The Book of the Dead. Will accept PC copy.
Just got a call from Waterstones to pick up my S/L. They also had an additional delivery of books, so managed to pick up a few more variants. While I was there the WH Smith that I visited earlier called and said "We have more books!" so I went back
Before anyone asks, these are all spoken for and I still need to get more to complete existing members orders!
These are in addition to the earlier photo...
The wrapped package contained my S/L:

That's a lot of books but I honestly thought you'd have more lol. Seriously, Simon. You should get a dealer/merchant license from H&S. Save yourself all the hassle of running around for us US folks. Which makes me wonder if the bookstores have any say in the variant front boards that they receive or is it completely random.

It seems to be completely random. Except Tesco's who only have their Peacock variant. They definitely get delivered in blocks of the same cover though.
For any anonymous site visitors who are scratching their heads as to why they cant buy a Sleeping Beauties ANYWHERE in Warwickshire, please accept my humble apologies!

Big time respect for all the members who are helping non-UK collectors with getting a copy
Just got a reply for H & S regarding what happens after the 1st print run are sold. The book will go to a plain board, no animal at all. This means all of the animals should be equally common, with the possible exception of the Tesco peacock. H & S do not divulge print run numbers, so I would list them as follows:
H & S standard Blue - Equal numbers of each animal
WH Smith Purple - Equal numbers of each animal, but less overall books than H & S (as the standard H & S is sold in multiple stores and retail chains)
Tesco Peacock. I would rate this as the least common, Tesco has lots of stores, but based on quantities in store, the overall numbers for an individual animal are probably lower than WH Smith.
I have nothing to back the above up, but it seems right. From personal experience, a full set of WH Smith is much harder to get than a full set of standard H & S.
Oh and for the purpose of clarity, Waterstones sell the standard H & S Blue, there is no Waterstones specific book (other than the S/L of course)

For those that might be interested; Oblong Books & Music advised me via email that they would only be accepting orders for inscribed copies by Owen through 2:30 EST today. After that, they'd only have flat signed copies by Owen. Link below:

Question?
Once WH Smith sells out of their 1ST Editions purple cover books do they no longer carry that title anymore or do they just replace them with the H&S editions?
Hardbacks are quite fleeting in UK bookstores. Once they have sold out of the initial run, they rarely restock. Supermarkets tend to get subsequent printings, especially the more ‘mainstream’ authors, eg Ludlum, Danielle Steele, Dan Brown, etc.

stroppygoblin, thanks for the wrap-up of all the UK variants. By the way, is the volume on the left in this picture one of the "standard" H&S blue editions, or something else?
