"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

A word of caution. I've ordered many, many items from Gauntlet. Barry is a great guy, but his packaging of books is less than desirable. I've had lettered editions set in oversized boxes with no padding or bubble wrap of any kind. I haven't had any major issues, although I just received a paperback from him that looks like it was thrown across the room. I usually order my Gauntlet editions from other sellers because they ship better. That said, if you collect anything in this sale it is a great deal.

They have on their website, the 5 volume Jim Thompson set published by Centipede Press for $175.00 (that's $35.00 a book) which is a good deal. Only 300 sets produced.

His art is nuts. I'll be getting that Vance but I'll hold off until it's closer to publication date.

Amazon.ca's price is higher than cover price. Ditto new Ellison collection.

I recently received a shipping notice from Sub Press, which perplexed me, as I have not ordered anything from them recently. I checked my PO Box Saturday and sure enough, there was a book to pick up. Addressed to me---with someone else's invoice inside.

I e-mailed Sub Press at the two e-mail accounts I have saved for them (once bounced back, but one apparently went through). I have not received a response.

On the off chance a representative of Sub Press is monitoring this thread, please return my e-mail on what you would like me to do with the book. It's not in my area of interest (from the looks of it) and I hate to think of the poor guy who paid for it waiting, waiting, waiting...

The Subterranean people were all (?) involved with a convention this past weekend, and today was a holiday. Both may explain why you haven't gotten a reply yet. subpress@gmail.com is the email address.

    New Jim Butcher collection announced:

    http://subterraneanpress.com/news/an...les_collection

Chicago wizard for hire Harry Dresden is used to mysterious clients with long hair and legs up to here. But when it turns out the long hair covers every square inch of his latest client’s body, and the legs contribute to a nine-foot height, even the redoubtable detective realizes he’s treading new ground. Strength of a River in His Shoulders is one of the legendary forest people, a Bigfoot, and he has a problem that only Harry can solve. His son Irwin is a scion, the child of a supernatural creature and a human. He’s a good kid, but the extraordinary strength of his magical aura has a way of attracting trouble.

In the three novellas that make up Working For Bigfoot, collected together for the first time here, readers encounter Dresden at different points in his storied career, and in Irwin’s life. As a middle-schooler, in “B is For Bigfoot,” Irwin attracts the unwelcome attention of a pair of bullying brothers who are more than they seem, and when Harry steps in, it turns out they have a mystical guardian of their own. At a fancy private high school in “I Was a Teenage Bigfoot,” Harry is called in when Irwin grows ill for the first time, and it’s not just a case of mono. Finally, Irwin is all grown up and has a grown-up’s typical problems as a freshman in college in “Bigfoot on Campus,” or would have if typical included vampires.

New York Times bestseller Jim Butcher explores the responsibilities of fatherhood and the difficulties of growing up with the elements Dresden Files fans crave—detection, adventure, humor, and magic.

Did anyone else happen to catch Subpress' home page banner yesterday that had an illustration of a couple of wine glasses and what appeared to be blood in the backround with the tagline: "We'll bring the Chianti. Summer 2015" (or something like that). It's gone now. Looks like they're doing a Silence of the Lambs limited this year..

That's it! Nice work. And, it's Spring, not summer. And, I'm merely speculating on it being SotL. Could be something else, possibly even a new Lecter book...?

Tell me about it- I just bought the new Easton Press edition which I *was* perfectly happy with. Subpress is announcing too many mandatory books right on top of each other this year and it's having a Shut Down effect on me; I can't keep up so I'm sticking my head in the sand.

I'll be...I didn't even know Easton had done an edition of SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. I'm fortunate enough to have a Fine/Fine personally-inscribed 1st HC of SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, so I may -- may -- be able to resist this new Sub Press edition, if, in fact, that's what the ad banner is referring to. I also have a signed Fine/Fine 1st HC of RED DRAGON. The two books make for a pretty cool duo. 8)

An inscribed first of Silence of the Lambs? That's an extremely cool, and rare item. What a great book. Red Dragon, too. What a shame he went so horribly wrong with Hannibal.

Yes, I caught him on a good day; my understanding is A) he doesn't sign much, and B) he personalizes even less. But every once in a while, the Book Gods smile on me:

    ...and this:

R.e. Lector: I agree, the two books after SILENCE were puzzling and disappointing, to say the least. Thank goodness, though, we still have his early masterpieces to revisit.
