Can't wait to see what this season is all about. I was surprised by how good season 1 was and hope that this isn't a let down.

Loved season 1. It was different enough from Breaking Bad that it didn't feel like a ripoff, yet it still felt like BB in many ways. I loved how Season 1 showed Saul as a decent guy. He was trying to be good and playing it straight, but constantly got shit on. Now it should be fun to watch him say, "Fuck it."

I wore one of my favorite shirts today to get in the mood for Season 2.

I'm not sure if I'll watch this. Saul kinda got on my nerves lol. Maybe because I watched the show over a few weeks is why. Might need a long vacation from the character before I try this one out.

I'm not sure if it will have any practical consequences. The scene was engineered to show that Jimmy just cannot help but break the rules. Even in tightly defined parameters ("Do NOT turn off!") he has to poke and prod the status quo.

In all seriousness, I think Saul is supposed to be kind of annoying. He's very different in Better Call Saul though. We are seeing him before he became the Saul Goodman we see on Breaking Bad.

True, I loved that aspect of it, I was just thinking that there might be more to it. You're probably right though, I think it's supposed to be a perfect bookend with the beginning where we see how he's afraid to even open the fire door in fear of having to talk to the cops. The old Saul would have burst through that door and not even thought twice about it.

I think the problem for me was Breaking Bad had so many silent characters, or very reserved characters, and very serious characters, that after a while all I heard out of Saul's mouth was 'I'M COMIC RELIEF GUYS' lol. It wasn't as bad early on, but then Hank lost his smile and left the comedy almost entirely up to Saul. I got more laughs out of Bill Burr and his big security guard than Saul in the latter parts of the show.

I view Saul's humorous, sardonic approach to life as a coping mechanism. It's his way of stifling what he perceives as his impending doom, being mixed in with drug lords, murderers etc. He knows the ride is not going to last, but he's going to have the time of his life while he's on it.

To Mike's point, Saul is a very different character in BCS. The seeds of his caricature like persona are there, but at this point in the timeline he is still trying to play by the rules.

It shows how far Saul has fallen -- as Jimmy, he immediately, without hesitation, flips the switch. As Saul (or whatever is name at Cinnabon is), he would sit in a trash room for hours rather than push the bar that sets off the alarm.

Is it just me or ??? I always thought that the Flash forward of ex-Saul was from the completion of Breaking Bad where he got sent away to Nebraska for a new identity by the fixer. He doesnt push the emergency exit because he wants no contact with police because he doesnt want to be tied to anything hanging on to the Breaking Bad stuff, but as we see... he still carves "SG was here" into the wall. We may have witnessed the re-birth of Saul Goodman. Jimmy-in-hiding trys to shove him into the box for the greater good but Saul will not be contained. He comes to the surface again and we may see some of his adventures (post Breaking Bad) after he embraces his old identity regaining his focus.

I don't know if he's making a comeback.. I saw it more as him being miserable and longing for the life he had before.

Honestly, I could see a point down the road when Better Call Saul has told all the stories they want to tell that we then get to see Saul adjusting to life after Saul Goodman. I think it could be interesting. Obviously they would have to expand past making Cinna-buns.

That is what I thought as well in regards to the switch and emergency exit. So far they have handled this show very well. I'm interested and excited to see where they take this character even though I know what he is heading towards.

I don't want to get crazy here, and I know we are only in season two, but I could see a spinoff with Mike at some point. Maybe even showing him as a young police officer. I don't know, maybe I'm taking this too far now.

IDK. Is there really that much to explore do you think? We already know he was on the force for some time, got caught up in a corruption scheme and more or less where he went from there. Though, having said that, a little info on his exploits leading up to, Gus might have some teeth. It does seem like they plan to sort of tell those stories along with, the Saul arc.

A very young Mike show is appealing in theory, but the problem is that you would not be able to cast Jonathan Banks in the role and let's be honest - he is the biggest reason that character is as great as it is.

Okay so how fucking great is Better Call Saul? I mean, honestly. I can't believe Gilligan captured lightning in a bottle twice, back to back no less.

One thing Gilligan did so well in Breaking Bad, and I'm glad to see continue on here, is his use of visual cues to help accentuate the character's struggles; When Kim gives Jimmy the "2nd greatest lawyer" tumbler and he's unable to fit into the cup holder, you know the different puzzle pieces of his life are not fitting together like he'd want them to. Excellent foreshadowing.

Yeah, you're right. Without Banks, the show wouldn't be nearly as appealing. He makes Mike who he is.

I will have to rack my brain, but I'm not sure if it's ever been done before. At least not at this level.

It's ingenious, quite frankly. It's the finest level of storytelling you will find in the visual medium.

Well, most of the season came and went without much discussion about Better Call Saul. That's certainly not a commentary on the quality of the show. I just think it's not one of those shows that gets hotly debated.

First, let me say how fast this season went by. The finale snuck up on me.

I thought the finale was excellent. We open in the hospital where we learn Jimmy's mom is dying. The mother says Jimmy's name before passing away while Jimmy is out of the room. Chuck never tells Jimmy this.

Fast forward to the end, Jimmy can't not tell his brother that he doctored the files, even though it could ruin him. He loves his brother that much. Chuck couldn't even tell his brother his mom's last words were his name because of jealousy, yet Jimmy reveals his scheme just to let his brother know he's not crazy. Fantastic writing.

Overall, I thought it was a really strong season. I know we are just scratching the surface of seeing the man Jimmy will become. My one negative for the season was that there wasn't much interaction between Jimmy and Mike. I just love their chemistry. Either way, I can't wait until season 3.

Great show and loved just about loved every moment of it. I enjoy how they are showing the parallels and contrasts between what being a bad guy (or a good guy!) is all about between Jimmy and Chuck.

I can't believe I almost gave up on this show before it even got started good! I watched the first few episodes of the first season and thought, meh. It sat on my Tivo for so long that season 2 completely recorded. I decided to give it another go from the beginning literally binged watched it over 3 days after work. This is the best show on TV hands down. I love all the character work and especially Banks' part as Mike.
    Spoiler:
He was a favorite of mine in BB and I loved the side we got see of him when he broke down talking to his daughter-in-law about the events leading to his son's murder
. So glad they developed this character into the depth that they have.

...don't you have to wonder if Chuck doctored the files, in kind, before he gave them to Slippin' Jimmy? Then Chuck's "illness" distracts Jimmy so he hasn't time to even consider the possibility.

    Spoiler:
fell and hit his skull...thus sending Jimmy into a panic...did Chuck know Jimmy was across the street watching? "Call 911" "Call 911" "Call 911"... but no one did for quite sometime...
