Is the deluxe illustrated edition signed by the artist? Wondering why the price is so high?
Wanted: Human skin edition of The Book of the Dead. Will accept PC copy.

Nice. I still need to find a good (cheapish) copy of HP1 UK, 3rd or 4th print and a 1st US trade.

I am curious on the same. I was really excited to see it until I saw the price.
Also if they do another set where they get through book 1 & 2 in leather with gilding and stop I am going to be pissed.

I think come the 1st I will probably order it though.

I don't think it is signed by the illustrator. I also am unsure if they are planning on making a set of the illustrated editions. I think the first one would make a nice Xmas gift for the Potter fan.

I have a copy. It's not bad for the price. Just a slipcased deluxe type book that was released after the new trade editions came out. Not sure if they're planning on doing the whole series?

It looks like Amazon has the deluxe illustrated edition up for pre-order - http://smile.amazon.com/Harry-Potter...er+illustrated

On the fence about this one - it looks nice, but $200 for a gift edition is a bit steep.

"making this new edition the perfect gift for a child being introduced to the series, as much as for the dedicated fan."

Gotta love the Amazon blurb - yep I'll pay $200 for a book to introduce my sone to the series...

"A rare opportunity and a luxurious reading experience."

And two ribbon markers, not one, but two

The hardback fetches 18-20K (GBP) according to recent auctions. There were only 500 copies, of which 300 went to libraries. The Paperback 1st fetches approx GBP 2K+
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

Didn't a signed copy go for over $40k last year or so? I think it was signed and in near fine condition.
