Default Drunken Fireworks -- new short story (audio)

Simon & Schuster Audio is thrilled to announce the publication of DRUNKEN FIREWORKS, a brand new story from Stephen King. DRUNKEN FIREWORKS will be released exclusively as an audiobook on June 30, 2015.

DRUNKEN FIREWORKS will be released on CD and as a digital download before it is published as one of the short stories in King’s collection, THE BAZAAR OF BAD DREAMS, coming from Simon & Schuster Audio and Scribner in November 2015.

Or using fireworks when drunk, which often can end badly!

I thought about that too. But without any context, could it be either of those?

Or it could be drunks that lose it and go off like fireworks?

Since his last couple books/stories I'm betting someone gets drunk and kills everyone with fireworks, their son or daughter becomes an alcoholic bc of the incident, they get sober only to be killed by some other drunk person.

"Afterlife" also first saw the light of day in audio form, but I guess a reading doesn't count.

Maybe the fireworks refers to sex, and it's drunk sex.

I wouldnt consider a recording of an event as an official release.
It was officially released in Tin House.

I would think that this would have to be a fairly long short story, perhaps even a novella. They wouldn't release a short short story as a stand alone audiobook, would they?

LT's Theory of Pets wasn't all that long, and it's available as a standalone story. Still, since this is two disks, it must be a fairly long story.

    Any info on narrator?
I liked the Revival guy but hoping for Holter Graham.
Does Steve pick them or the publisher/producer?

Steve sometimes recommends a reader if he discovers one he likes. Other times its the publishers suggestion. He gets final approval. Morse was good on Revival and I'm enjoying Will Patton's reading of Mr. Mercedes at the moment. He has a gravelly voice.

    Thanks for the info.
I enjoyed Patton doing Dr. Sleep. They usually do a good job picking them, with the exception of Raul Esperza, there hasn't been a dud for quite awhile.

When someone says, "What are you working on?" I'll say, "I've got this wonderful story about these two families on two sides of a lake that end up having this arms race with fireworks," but I'm doing this event, and then I've got the political ad and all this other crap. So you have to be stern about it and say, "I'm not going to do this other stuff, because you've got to make room for me to write." Nobody really understands what the job is. They want the books, but they don't, in a way, take it seriously.

Could definitely be novella-length. Two CDs can max out at 160 minutes. So let's say two hours, give or take. What would that be, page-wise?
