I just like it. Have some other letters by King also and will keep it with them.

I think an originally composed letter by SK could be worth thousands of dollars in the not to distant future.
I agree that letter is huge, what a bad time for it to be listed when everybody is broke..
after summer it would have sold twice that...to me.

I just saw the auction. I thought it would have sold for a higher price. Congrats, Mike!
The letterhead is the same one used when King responded to people asking about how to get The Gunslinger after the first printing sold out. You can see a reproduction of it in The Road to the Dark Tower.
Sir_Boome has a letter with this letterhead on his collection page
Horseshoes and hand grenades..
I was gone most of last week but was wondering if there had been any discussion of this seller's (russdj) auctions. Here is an example:

I think many of these signatures are suspect. Several years ago he was buying stuff on eBay at very high prices and at the time many of us were thinking he was buying forgeries. Any thoughts on the legitimacy of his current listings?

Remember, Remember, The Fifth of November, The Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot.
I guess they are probably OK. (Although any self respecting forger would know enough to put the slash through the 7 for any King signature after about 1977 or 1978).
russdj had quite the reputation among King collectors on eBay for quite a while 7 or 8 years ago. For quite a long time it was nearly impossible for any of the rest of us to buy anything on eBay. russdj was buying everything with really high bids. He reminded me of the infamous "Dr. Mindful" about 10 years ago. Just bidding whatever it took to win everything of significance. Then, just as quickly, they were both gone from eBay. Burned out, run out of money or perhaps just lost interest.
Anyway, russdj bought a lot of items that looked to the rest of us to be forgeries at the time. I am leery whenever I see that username pop up again.
BTW, I loathe the use of emoticons. Why the heck is one showing up whenever I use 1978?
Because 8) equals 8 ) without the space
Mr. RT beat me!
You can also click "Disable smilies in text" and they'll not show up as smilies, but only as the underlying code. This is not helpful if you're trying to make a smilie, but is VERY helpful for those inadvertant ones like the 8) or when you have colons and letters next to each other. For example:
:o
:P
8)
See? No emoticons!
