I've avoided this thread long enough! I finally finished Season 3. I enjoyed the season a lot.
My favorite is the first by a slim margin. I'm no Psychologist but I'd imagine it's because it was new and novel to me at the time...like a new girlfriend, car ect.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
...there are dangers in leaning too heavily on nostalgia because media makers can sometimes end up reproducing harmful patterns along with their retro aesthetics, especially true when it comes to masculinity and romance conventions in entertainment.

I'd be shocked if they let this show end after 4 seasons.

I feel like that's specifically why they signed the Duffers to that multi-year deal. That way, if it DOES end after season 4, they're still in their pockets to create for Netflix exclusively. Kind of an insurance policy.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
I mean holy shit, the show is set in a time period where you could still smoke pretty much anywhere. Inside bowling allys, malls, police stations, airplanes, restaurants etc... I'm not 100% sure about doctors' offices though.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
Yes, in a Dr's office...in the waiting room only though. Many doctors in the early 70's promoted low tar smokes in ads in their waiting rooms. Hospitals; smoking in the visitor's lounge and main lobby only.
But the big question is...could you smoke while being sodomized by a broom handle?
And in that era, EVERYONE smoked! Your doctor, your Health teacher, your kindergarten teacher your nurse, your waiter had a fag hanging out of his mouth as he brought your food. ...the only exceptions were your preacher and your Sunday School teacher.

hell yes

Yeah, I thought that was something they'd milk out over a couple episodes rather than answering it in the trailer. Good marketing, though.

Because there's no such thing as a surprise anymore. Then again, we all knew he was still alive.
