Interesting discussion but I generally disagree with the premise that modern music often lacks melody, and electronic music is specifically singled out as simplistic or as just "sound design" but as someone who's very much obsessed with music (mainly electronic music), see the Now Playing thread for proof, I can definitely state this is not the case. Even the artists mentioned, like Billie Eilish or Taylor Swift have put out very melodic songs just this year.
Yes...every generation dislikes the music of the generation before it and after. It's nothing new.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
I'm not really contributing to the ongoing conversation of this thread, just throwing out a band that I've been listening to of late and really enjoying;
Fozzy - the goofy rock/metal band fronted by wrestler Chris Jericho
I was really blown away by how much I enjoyed their most recent record "Judas", and their newly released single is equally good. I'm really looking forward to their next album, which hopefully drops relatively soon.
Anyone listen to and enjoy Fozzy?
Yes. I enjoyed that band. I took it as a gimmick by a wrestler at first but they have a good sound.

Here you go, Jon!

Any Opeth fans? There new album is awesome.
It’s taken a few listens to sink in, but I’m now loving it and I think it might be their best from the no-growling albums since Heritage.
Metallica is playing five festivals in the US next year. They will play each festival on Friday and Sunday nights with different set-lists for each night. Other bands to be announced later. There are five three day festivals though so there will be a bunch of other bands.
Presale tickets are available for purchase now if you are a Metallica fan club member. Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, 10/14/19.
There are both general admission and VIP tickets available.
I purchased the GA tickets for the Daytona Beach, FL festival. The Daytona International Speedway is less than an hour away from my home. The GA tickets for the three days was $169.50. There was a service fuck you charge of $40.28 per ticket and a $9.00 ??? postage charge for two tickets. I just figured the final price for two Metallica shows and everyone else who will be there was worth a couple hundred bucks per person however they want to invoice the charges.
The VIP tickets are $499.50 with a $83.76 service charge. I don't know the shipping price.
Prices might be different at your closest venue.
May 1-3: Epicenter - Charlotte, NC
May 8-10: Welcome to Rockville - Daytona Beach, FL
May 15-17: Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival - Columbus, OH
September 18-20: Louder Than Life - Louisville, KY
October 9-11: Aftershock - Sacramento, CA

I just saw Modest Mouse and The Black Keys and it was a really good show. I don't know much Black Keys, but I'm a huge Modest Mouse fan.
New City And Colour is out and I'm loving it. Here are some singles from the new album.

I have a ticket to see Tool the day after tomorrow and am frantically trying to dump it. I'm just not excited about going (age? and I'm a dull person) and the idea of reaping some sweet, sweet cash intrigues.

Are you okay, man? Hopefully this is just a down but not out phase.
Disco forever!
Sorry, but no, disco is awesome. And it never went away, it evolved.
