Personally, I wouldn’t want a specialty press to tackle the first book in a series without committing to doing them all.
Of course, we may all turn to dust before The Doors of Stone ever gets finished.

Possibly about the 3rd book, but there is strong evidence it is being released next summer. With GoT finally over and Kingkiller set to take center stage on Showtime and at the theater, this may have been planned.
With that, I agree but I'd also be fine with just an amazing presentation of the 1st.
SubPress has said they have zero on the books to do a Kingkiller edition, but they were the ones that made that uber limited of only 2 for Rothfuss and "somebody else".
The Gollancz limited editions are either ugly (brown ones) or just kinda nice (green).

Amazon and Book depository listed an Aug 20 2020 date for Doors of Stone; it isn’t known is there’s anything solid behind this.

Paul has published 3 of my favorite books thus far so it's very possible he'll publish favorites of ours as well. When Paul first started up, he took a poll of what folks wanted most and I'm sure the results are in this thread someplace. However, without any knowledge of Paul's future projects, I don't see this press as one that would do a series of books. Based on what we've seen, I think Paul's main goal is to published limiteds of books that I have missed out on the treatment in one way or the other. Again, my views or opinions don't reflect those of Suntup.

Book Depository and Amazon are one and the same, so they are probably getting it from the same "source".
As recently as April, Rothfuss said Book 3 was progressing, but slowly. He refused to give any hint of publication date. So I think this August 2020 date is an Amazon placeholder.
Incidentally, in the same April interview, Rothfuss explained that the "first draft" he completed years ago bears little resemblance to the story now written. It was a conceptual starting point, not a manuscript that merely required a polish for publication.

... roughly starting at 43:00 into the podcast. And it's end of March, not April.

Ilium (Simmons)
I’ve read that, too. My experience is placeholders aren’t random days in the middle of August, they are December 31st or January 1st. As the article https://lrmonline.com/news/third-kin...-release-date/ states, only time will tell.
I’ll take this as a chance to just kill the topic because it’s so far from being about Suntup at this point...

The Adventures of Silly Billy sounds like a good option. I'll see if we can get the rights..... :-P
I agree that The Name of the Wind would make for an amazing Suntup edition, but... :-|
Yes I would do a series. I have a lock on the first book in a certain trilogy, and I plan to do #2 & #3.. I like the idea of coming up with a design where they will all look good side by side on the shelf.
Please be Bill Hodges!
Oh God, not The Lord of the Rings again!
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.

I love The Name of the wind too, it would be a great Suntup Edition but... nothing is impossible. :-P
I have three Gift Editions (Misery, Horns & RB) and now, mi first limited Edtion: The Road. I would have loved a Gift Edition for The Road. I can not imagine the cover design that It would have had.
Thanks Paul, for making wonderful editions!
Looking around my shelves at trilogies (surprisingly hard to find, most books are either stand-alone titles or part of a series with more than three parts), one jumps out at me: Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles. It’s probably not that, but one can dream.
Is there a timeline for the next announcement?
You didn't debunk my suggestion of the trilogy you're doing...
Wayward Pines would be a wonderful Trilogy!!
