It's insane for me to think that Matrix, Jurassic Park and Goodfellas are out of the tournament.

I found Ravenous the other day. That movie looks pretty great.

And hey guess what, our 1990s Final is finally here! It's been a long road but only two movies remain out of 256. Choose wisely!
Yes, we'll take a month and a half off and we'll begin the nominations process for the decade of the 2000s around mid-July for the voting to begin in August and finish in November.
I am one of the few that thought NCFOM deserved its Oscar, but for the sheer scope, detail and magnitude I would be extremely disappointed if LOTR didn't win it.
BTW, maybe its good to get this discussion out of the way, but the LOTR will be entered as the entire trilogy and not 3 distinct films for the competition, yes?
LOTR would have to be nominated and seconded as three individual films.
No Country is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better
Wish List:
Any of the following flatsigned or inscribed-
It, Shining, Salem’s Lot, Mr. Mercedes, The Stand
Brother ARC, Seed ARC
Loved LOTR but No Country was just so twisted. I even own LOTR on bluRay

The 2000s was a great decade of movies. But you can say that about literally any decade, honestly. I have tons of titles I'd love to nominate.
Really, I love the 70's:
Godfather
Godfather II
Jaws
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Star Wars
The French Connection
The Seven Ups
The Exorcist
Apocalypse Now
Taxi Driver
Alien
A Clockwork Orange
China Town
Rocky
Close Encounters
All the President's Men
The Deer Hunter
The Sting
MASH
A Dog Day's Afternoon
Halloween
Deliverance
Dirty Harry
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Marathon Man
And that's just off of the top of my head. I could go on, and on!
I was really hoping for the 70s, as it is perhaps the best decade of movie making of all time.
HELP ME FIND
Insomnia #459
ANY S/L #459
See the first post of this thread for when we will get to the '70s. Spoiler alert: not very soon
And speaking of the '70s, I just finished creating my Top 30 lists for each year from 2018 going back all the way to 1970: https://letterboxd.com/maemiddleton/lists/by/name/ Took a long time, but it's been really fun.
Thanks - I'll just have to wait it out. I really do think that the 1970s produced the best crop of movies we will ever see in a 10 year span. It was a true golden age of film, especially American film.
I appreciate all you do to organize this. I'll have to check out some of your 70s foreign films.
Unless the contest/voting is rigged, LOTR will be three different entries, and if they finish 1,2,3, then without a doubt the whole thing was a setup.
