A note of sympathy hand delivered upon the return of the person would be appropriate.

Attention producers of NBA telecasts for all networks:

After a basket is scored, SHOW THE LIVE GAME PLAY.

    Do NOT show a replay.

Do NOT show a close-up of the guy who just scored.

    SHOW THE GAME!

I wouldn't mind some advice : my dad passed away at the beginning of the year. My mom's birthday is coming at the beginning of june, and I have no idea what to do.

We will obviously be visiting her.
My wife has a nice gold necklace in which it's possible to put 1 or 2 pictures that he never used, and i thought that it would be nice ( we may not tell her it's from my wife's gramma, otherwise she may not accept it), but... any other suggestions?

    Hi Jeremy,
Very true Alan, the 2 of you visiting and spending some time is priceless! If you want to have a physical item to give at that visit, think of something that will put a smile on her face, value/price in my opion is irrelevant, something thoughtful & meaningful would be great! The pictures you mention that your Mom might not be familiar with sounds Wonderful, that being said wether there in a $1 frame or in a gold necklace I'm sure they'll be cherished! The fact your asking your friends here I think speaks volumes that you care, so in possibly sounding like a chick (no offense itended) go with your heart and have a Great day with your Moms! I'm really sorry for the loss your Family has encountered!

    Matt

Thanks all, I agree with the comments.
Giving the gold necklace is not because it's gold, but a necklace allowing to put pictures in it. It just happens to be gold and one that came from my wife's gramma.
I agree that the best thing would be to give some quality time, in family (hopefully my brother, his wife and two kids would be able to come with us too), just in case there were some additional ideas
    Thanks again !

I did a thing today. Ran a marathon in 3:29:54 (4:56 per km pace) for a 12 minute personal best. I did a thing last weekend too, a half-marathon in 1:39:50 (4:42 pace) for a 2 minute personal best. As a result of this, I now have three black toenails and I'm walking like a penguin.

Up next: a personal best in how much food I can stuff in my gullet. The marathon was 3750 calories.

    That's amazing.

I was reading today's sport section, and in a non-qualifying event, a person almost broke the 2 hour mark.

Impressive time! I ran several half-marathons, but only one full (before my doctor forced me into retirement). I ran it in 4:31:27.

I never had any black toenails, but my little toe stopped growing a nail due to running. That was over 15 years ago.

RF, I follow some of the biggest names in running on Twitter etc. and the community seems to be split about this. Ideal, controlled conditions such as the Nike sub2 event will never happen: pacing, feeding during the race, weather etc. is all a part of a road race. On the other hand, the guy did run 42.2 in just over two hours so no disrespect in that regard. That's is one incredible tempo. If he were running a 5k, his finish time would be just under 15 minutes but instead of stopping he'd go and do it seven more times (+2.2 km). INSANE. I can't run a single kilometer going that fast (a 3 minute km).

bdwyer19, that is hard core. I've lost plenty of toenails during peak training mileage and races but they all eventually grew back.

Wow... I have been running for over a year now. I cannot break 10k in one hour... 9.41 is my best. My knee won't take it. I used to race superbike and crashed my CBR1000RR going 192 (kilometres not miles per hour) and ripped my knee literally apart. I am just thankful to be able to run and I have to say that time you run (under 5 mins) is fantastic. Good for you. I am very envious.

I was never a runner but just last week I started running to work. It's only a few miles but I am doing it semi-barefoot (on minimal shoes) and despite being an experienced barefoot and semi-barefoot 'walker', running like that (without any heel strikes) on very hard surfaces is a very different experience because of the unfamiliar stress it imposes on the arches, the ankle joints, and the muscles and tendons of the lower leg. So you do have to work up to it slowly.

I was also extremely impressed by the marathon attempt referenced in the posts above!

In Stand By Me Gordy's brother gave him a Yankees cap before he died. But then Eyeball Chambers stole it from him and wore it.

I wouldn't classify him as "evil" though. Just a normal teenager picking on his younger brother and his brother's friend.

In Stand By Me Gordy's brother gave him a Yankees cap before he died. But then Eyeball Chambers stole it from him and wore it.

I wouldn't classify him as "evil" though. Just a normal teenager picking on his younger brother and his brother's friend.

    Thanks!!!

My wife has a nice gold necklace in which it's possible to put 1 or 2 pictures that he never used, and i thought that it would be nice ( we may not tell her it's from my wife's gramma, otherwise she may not accept it), but... any other suggestions?
Nothing you could buy her would be as good as a visit from you and your girl.
Same question with Mother's day : I obviously cannot send a card with "happy mothers day", so... just calling and maybe sending some fluwers?
I know that it may seem like basic / dummy question, but it's a sensitive period....
