Haha, I was on my phone, I didn't know that question/answer was there when I posted it! Too funny. I guess the seller didn't accept the offer since the auction's still up. I wonder if David knows the seller? I would be wary of PayPal friends and family paying a random person in Japan, even to get a good deal on a lettered Regulators. Haha, what happens if they just don't send you the book? Without any recourse through PayPal, you might be up shit creek!

STEPHEN KING/PHIL HALE 'Insomnia' SIGNED Ltd EDITION PRINT 6 prints in all
Coming to you from northern VT!.....Yes, I did business with this seller a few years ago and kept his email. I asked him if he would sell it outright and he declined. I have ZERO regrets going directly to him to buy it....I think he is right to let it go all the way through though.
As for final price? You just might see $6000 eclipsed! The way Lettered editions have soared in price, I'd not be surprised....And if you really think I'm a nut job, maybe it eclipses $7,000...you never know!
Part of this response was to test my wifi connection from the condo.....off skiing tomorrow!
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Upon closer examination by blowing up photos of the Regulators... I fear there is some bad damage that is not disclosed. Everyone look for yourselfs... I have asked and he has not answered yet which I find odd. Not only that why would you only put 4 pictures up if you can do 12? AND two of them are of the check??? This is an item expected to fetch large money and he is only using those photos? Anyone else find that hinky a bit? I also read his response to David and after chatting with a member/friend it sounds odd how he responds... asking if there is something wrong in the pictures that he sees. Not sure but a few red flags. Also, seller is stating no returns. I am always weary of over seas sellers where I got burned once on a high end watch (got my money back) but where David has done business with him before... just not sure. As bad as I want the book I have not bid anymore and may not. UNLESS he proves to me that book is perfect. I do not want a copy (for $1000's) that is not 100% perfect.
HELP ME FIND
Insomnia #459
ANY S/L #459
The seller can't edit the auction to add pics.
They can respond to questions and include pics in there answers.
Wanted: Human skin edition of The Book of the Dead. Will accept PC copy.
Not sure what kind of damage but something is strange...yes they could add a ton of pics!
I recommend those interested to proceed with caution.
Yes, eBay/Paypal does provide protection if item is not as described. That being said, who wants the headache along $5-7k+ in cash locked up while claim is vetted?!
Just my unsolicited, two cents.......prolly ain't worth much!
Looks like you can ADD pictures.
I sent the following question/comments:
"The picture seems to show damage or some form of irregularity to the top front of the book. The condition is listed as "new", which would infer perfect with nothing wrong with the book or case.
Are the book and case in perfect as new condition?
Please upload more high-resolution in focus pictures. An item like this that sells for thousands of dollars needs to have no ambiguity as to its condition.
Thanks."
Wish you luck in bidding Buddy, under 7k for a "regular" lettered Regulators would be a good price these days!!!!
Matt reminded me that every copy was hand sewn, etc...
this came from the catalog:
Hand sewn
Hand bound in brown Morocco leather and Winchester 30 caliber bullets
The spine has the title and author’s name blind stamped wet to look like it was branded
The endleaves are of hand made and colored paste paper
The book is housed in a hand made faux-ammunition box covered in wood veneer with gold stamping on the side.
could this be part of the variances? looking forward to seeing more pictures.
I don't see the issue with the leather that has been mentioned??
I no longer collect S/L's but will make an exception for this one of three that I've always wanted.
I am participating in bidding for "potential" ownership as well as a few others here, and would greatly appreciate if anybody could clarify any (negative) points of issue.
Good luck fellow bidders..
Thanks

Of course it's damaged. It's been shot four times!! Surprised no one noticed.
Seriously, for a book this value, further pics shouldn't be a big ask. Unless the seller thinks it'll sell no matter what due to the rarity/demand and doesn't feel he needs to.
Good luck all.
If you look at the top edge of the front board in the first picture, the right half of that edge looks funky, like it's bumpy or marred in some way. Follow the top edge from far left corner to far right corner and it appears as if that hard line flat edge becomes bumpy or something like halfway across. Could be the leather or could be a trick of the light or photograph, but it's concerning for a 5000+ book, I would say. I didn't even notice it at first, but now that I see it, I can't unsee it.

This is an incredible edition and opportunity, but I've got to agree with some of the previous posts: Fuzzy photos (where possible damage is, at best, ambiguous), only 3 different photographic angles (out of a possible 12), and so far the seller hasn't responded to some direct questions we know they've received about this copy. There's a lot of unknowns here.
Seems like the seller felt too scrutinised. Hopefully they've learned the lesson: There's nothing like having a comprehensive description, and comprehensive photographs, to avoid scrutiny from people willing to part with thousands of US currency.
From the item page:
"A lot of complains. . . I am tired. The fact is I opened the carboard box the last wee for the first time since I purchase it decades ago:
I read it by trade H/C. So, I do not need to open it.
I decided to close this auction tomorrow. If I feel good again, there would be the auction again."
Oh cry me a river. 'Waaaa, I own a lettered regulators that I want to sell, but I don't want to answer any questions about it or take more than 4 crappy photos, and I'm tiiiired.' I've been bombarded by questions selling books worth one thousandth of the value of this book. What an asshole.
