Default the ten albums i listened to the most in 2009

okay, so...there's a thread for the ten best released this year, but...i didn't really listen to a lot of new music this year. all i'm interested in is what you listened to over and over since the year started.

    here's mine:

    1. radiohead - hail to the thief
    2. magnetic fields - 69 love songs
    3. bar kokhba sextet - book of angels, volume 10: lucifer
    4. spiritualized - songs in a&e
    5. golden smog - down by the old mainstream
    6. jamie saft trio - book of angels, volume 1: astaroth
    7. seu jorge - the life aquatic studio sessions
    8. explosions in the sky - the earth is not a cold dead place
    9. beastie boys - paul's boutique
    10. neutral milk hotel - in the aeroplane over the sea

warning in advance, folks: this thread will be strictly moderated. if you post more than 10, anything from 11 on will be edited out. you have to follow the rules.

there is some overlap from my best of 2009 list, but that's exactly why some of those albums made my best of 2009 list, because i couldn't stop listening to them.

off the top of my head, these were the albums i went to the most often this past year:

    1. john zorn - O'o
    2. neko case - middle cyclone
    3. bob dylan - blood on the tracks (the new york sessions)
    4. bar kokhba sextet - book of angels, volume 10: lucifer
    5. magnetic fields - 69 love songs
    6. golden smog - down by the old mainstream
    7. tom waits - mule variations
    8. miles davis - in a silent way
    9. vishwa mohan bhatt - saradamani
    10. bob dylan - blood on the tracks (the new york sessions)

I didn't have this one until maybe last year, a friend finally gave it to me... I mostly just listened to Ziggy Stardust and miscellaneous songs before that. It's one I can always listen to all the way through. <3

I've also got the 'Treasury' compilation, but most of it's from his 3 albums so I didn't list it. Very good selection though

i purposely left shows off, since they're not technically albums. if i hadn't, my list would have been all radiohead.

Ah. This explains a lot, since I noticed that exactly.

I just used info from my ipod so I'd have to do some digging around to find just albums. Frankly, it didn't occur to me that the live stuff weren't technically albums. Sorry, punkin.

well, i guess it depends. was it released by the band as a live album? or is it an actual bootleg recording from the show?

Released by the band as an "official bootleg". That helps, hunh?!!

then i'd consider that an album. since most of the live radiohead i have is from audience recordings, i wouldn't count that.

btw, i think the term "official bootleg" is bullshit. but that's just me. *shrugs*

Ha! Yeah, it's a pretty stupid name, but that's what they call them. I don't mind, as long as the band keep releasing them from every concert !!

To produce, distribute, or sell without permission or illegally
pro-audio is not a bootleg. they need to call it something else.
