Thanks guys. Food for thought. Depending on cost I could look at printing off something and having it bound, or keeping an eye out for a damaged s/l. It's just an idea I like sound of so will let you all know if I go ahead with anything.
Cheers.

I think it will be easier to find a DJ-less book than a bookless DJ....
Good luck with the hunt, then! What condition DJ are you looking for?
Wait until people discover the Fore Edge Painting Craze! I wonder if Glenn Chadbourne would do it on a King book.
For those who don't know what it it here's a sample:
The absence of a thing, this can be as deadly as the presence. The absence of air, eh?
The absence of water? The absence of anything else we're addicted to.

That's beautiful. I've never seen or heard of this before.

I have always been a huge fan of edge decoration. I've seen two very beautiful antique books with fore-edge sculpting as well. One in the Smithsonian museum and the other in a private collection. The private collection piece was very intricately cut so that the sculpting didn't extend beyond the margins and the book was still able to be (very carefully) opened and 'flipped' through. I wish I'd taken photos, since I can't seem to find any similar examples on google.
They have been around for years and are really striking and at times beautiful. Sometimes Swann Galleries and Heritage will have large sections of books with fore edge paintings in their auctions. I wonder if we will need to invent a new term for them if Chadbourne, Kocurek, et. al., start doing them in large numbers on King books. Edge remarques, perhaps? Foreremarques?

I really hope this doesn't become another remarque fad. Just my opinion
Vinny Chong offered top edge remarques...
