I sold a Night Vision 5 S/L roughly 45 days ago for $230. Not sure when the above sells took place.
The person who purchased my extra copy didn't buy it for Kings signature, but George R. Martins.

IMO I think the Night Visions series is up there as one of the best horror anthologies that's been released, as far as the content goes (i.e., very high quality stories and names, both established and new talent). I bought all of the S/Ls as they were released. However, in terms of appearance they're just "regular" hard cover books, and so don't really compare against the other gorgeous anthologies (e.g., Best of Best new Horror) in terms of production or aesthetics, and that's probably why there may be less appeal for collectors specifically?

Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
Oh, the slipcases are garbage. I ended up swapping the slipcases between the editions to make them fit more appropriately. I got Jeff to make some slipcases for the recent Sub Press Night Visions editions that didn't come with slipcases and Jeff's are 10 times better.
I'm not sure why Dark Harvest ended up going with the slipcases they did. In the beginning, it was supposed to be black (see below picture):
I ended up receiving a damaged slipcase when I ordered from Dark Harvest. After contacting them, they sent me the one pictured with a note saying........"sorry about someone going Postal on your slipcase. Please except one of our prelim cases (black cloth) to replace the grey damaged one".
Again, not sure why they went with the grey one, but the black cloth one is actually very nice and fits the book perfect. Maybe it cost them too much.

Tis' pricey but for some reason it's calling my name.....
I've bought items from Overlook before but never their self published stuff.
The "Before The Play" that is in the TV Guide from 1997 is abridged. If you have never read it try to find a copy of Whispers magazine, Vol. 5, Nos. 1/2, Whole numbers 17/18. Published in 1982. It is significantly longer and a much better read. The Whispers magazine is not that hard to find and will be a whole lot less than the $300 Overlook Connection hodge-podge.
Before making any decision, I suggest you wait until the official announcement of Cemetery Dance's Artist Edition of The Shining, which will be very soon. This book will feature artwork from both Don Maitz and Glenn Chadbourne, and although not confirmed, it could very well include 'Before The Play' as an added bonus! Not only will this edition be a lot nicer, I'm pretty sure it will also cost less than the $300 price of the Overlook edition.
This was discussed recently here.

Before the Play - TV Guide = 6,080 words
Before the Play - Whispers = 17,100 words
Give the abridged TV Guide a miss, and get the full story in Whispers,
