King has really gone off his nut again on Twitter. Sad, pathetic, and disrespectful.

Disrespectful to whom? Anyone worth of respect?

He's a liberal because he can afford to be one. Notice where he lives. He doesn't live in any of the crime stricken areas or areas where illegals outnumber citizens. He's not volunteering to house and feed refugees. I love the mans writing and he's my favorite author but his politics aren't my style.

It is particularly ironic that King - who portrays almost anyone of religious faith as a fringe loon in his books - is lecturing Christians on how they should respond to Trump. That is rich. He is just another celebrity who has been surrounded by sycophants for so long that he can no longer understand that it is possible for anyone to have a different opinion than himself without being evil or stupid.

Yeah I thought that was pretty funny as well. Quite hypocritical.

Yeah, The Stand, Desperation, Father Callahan's arc in DT... he's definitely one just to portray the Christian faith as lunacy.

He grew up in abject poverty. Was he calling Mexicans rapists or grabbing women by the p*ssy then?

    ABSOLUTELY
We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

Consequence of Sound loves Stephen King.

That likely isn’t surprising to our Constant Readers, what with our extensive coverage of The Dark Tower, our thoughts on the best adaptations of his work, or, say, the sprawling cinematic universe we hypothesized a few years ago. And while King’s creations are always in demand, it delights us to see his stories benefitting from Hollywood’s renewed interest in mainstream horror as well as streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu.

That’s why we decided to start The Losers’ Club: A Stephen King Podcast, a cozy, chummy place for lifelong fans and newbies to dig deep into both his oeuvre and the myriad TV, film, print, and stage adaptations of his work. Twice a month, CoS staffers Dan Caffrey, Randall Colburn, Justin Gerber, McKenzie Gerber, Allison Shoemaker, and, of course, Editor-In-Chief Michael Roffman will gather together to dig between the pages.

In each episode, we’ll discuss and debate the themes, characters, and legacy of King’s output, book-by-book. We’ll also be sharing what freaks us out, what makes us laugh, and what makes us cringe. Our goal is to be as comprehensive as possible, which means these episodes will tend to run long, though as King once wrote, “No great thing was ever attained easily. A long tale, like a tall Tower, must be built a stone at a time.”

So, join us, Constant Listeners, as we start from the beginning with 1974’s Carrie.
If you guys and gals are not listening to this podcast, you're missing out. They dive really deep, going through King's oeuvre in order. They're doing The Stand now, and each of the three constituent books of the novel get an episode, with the second part or book running about 4 hours. Great round-table discussion with pretty knowledgeable folks. Very much worth the time, I feel. I've listened to all the preceding episodes, and it's been great!

Empire magazine: "The one and only Stephen King tells us about the page-to-screen journey of his seemingly unfilmable The Dark Tower, with J.J. Abrams and Ron Howard both attempting to tackle it at certain points along the way. We also speak to Matthew McConaughey about his part in King’s well-beloved world."

All that, and really quite a lot more, can be found in issue #339 of Empire, on sale from Thursday 13

The Emmy nominations may have just been announced, but we Losers—and hopefully you, Constant Listeners—know there’s a far more important awards show in 2017: the Kingies.

As we close the book on Stephen King’s 1970s output, hosts Randall Colburn, McKenzie Gerber, Dan Caffrey, and Michael Roffman choose the best (and worst!) from a litany of categories. Who’s our favorite hero of a ’70s King novel? Which novel has the best ending? And where can the tastiest poundcake be found?

The hosts aren’t always in agreement, so it’s up to you, Constant Listener, to help us break more than a couple of ties in the comments. And of course, we’d love to hear your own personal Kingy ballot.

And be sure to tune back in next week for another installment of Needful Tweets. Then we’re on to Firestarter. King’s ninth book kicks off the slightly spottier yet still brilliant 1980s, a decade that includes what are arguably his two scariest novels.

Until then, long days, pleasant nights, and several golden Kurt Barlow statues on your bureau.
