I'm hoping that my health will let me go to the Dayton signing. I'm just not sure.

After the hype goes down a little bit I'm pretty sure there will be copies below $200.

Why can't you just say it now? You have a theory, you have a reason, you have a prediction.
So why can't you just say it? What's the point of the "secret inside knowledge" game? And if you don't have secret knowledge, than why imply you do?
If there are 5K signed books they will sell for $150-$200 on the open market like every other book with that many copies floating around.

I don't have any "secret inside knowledge", I just said I was waiting for details from every venue to be announced. My theory is that since there won't be "guaranteed" signed copy tickets sold in advance, there will be less books available to re-sellers, who traveled to numerous events on the Revival tour. If you have ~1,700 fans who go to see King speak, the lucky 400 who get a signed copy are less likely to sell their copies-they simply will cherish and keep the book.
It will be similar to the King event in Boulder Colorado. There were numerous collectors (buyers) there including myself. When the event ended and the books were distributed, many of us were outside offering $200-$250 for signed copies. To my knowledge, not a single person sold their book.
Ah - okay. Your original post on the subject seemed to imply you knew something about how these events were going to be run that was not public knowledge.
Yes, I agree that at the NIGHT of each specific event, you would be semi-hard pressed to find a seller at that moment. Because each night there are 400 books but 1500 people there - so supply does not equal demand. And you're right that the random nature means a dealer won't be guaranteed inventory - and it IS hard to buy from a fan at an event. I mean, I would never sell at an event even if you pushed $500 in my face - I would be uncertain and cautious and would wait until I could make a more informed decision. While some people are happy to take money in hand, many are like me and would prefer to wait - even if that risks losing a little profit later.
BUT - away from each event, the book totals will start adding up - so eventually there are 5000 books. And of those, many will eventually show up on ebay - especially when somebody in Albuquerque or some other backwater realizes they can make $150-$200 for a book they paid $30 for.
I agree that trying to buy a book the night of an event will be difficult - but I think patience over time will show that a healthy percentage of these books will hit the open market from normal fans who want to make a quick buck. And at that point demand and supply will begin to equalize a little more reasonably - as has been proven with past signing tours.
That's why I said IMO, $150 was too low. With patience one can probably be had in the $225-$275 range. I'd buy 10 @$150 IF they were available at that price. They certainly won't go for the $900 that a Bazaar of Bad Dreams commands. We'll know at the end of June.
Should be $30 between TDT members.
That's a lot of signed books on this tour. I agree it is a bit different than the Revival tour where there were some book signings in which people could get multiple copies for sale but with random distribution some people who don't collect will undoubtedly try to make a profit. Probably starts out high at $400 and when no one bites ends up at $200-250. I also wouldn't be surprised if we are getting close to the end of King's book signing days. He looks a bit frail. If this turns out to be the final rodeo that might bump up the prices. I just want one. Probably heading to the PA signing. Know some folks in TN who can go to Nashville so maybe I get lucky.
I have to disagree... and here is why Paul. It costs most members a small fortune to go to these events... cost me thousands each time I went. As much as I want to help my friends and members.. that is just not practical for aiding in my upfront costs. Now.. a deal.. for sure! I even offered to trade many members that had been to other signings for a extra they might have got and we each covered our own shipping but for cost... that is tough IMO.
Yeah, but we wouldn't now that NOW - what would happen is a few years from now people would say "huh, he hasn't signed books in a long time, I better get a signed copy of "End of Watch" while I still can..."
But his health/career/etc won't affect values in the short-term. I don't think, anyway.
