    Default Disjointed Messages Hastily Scrawled

This will be a place for me to put my assorted poems from this site...mostly so that I have them all together. Feel free to offer advice as a poem is never perfect and thus never finished.

    The Sun God

Of courage and strength, an amalgamation,
His gaze as furious a conflagration,
As the searing heat and rolling flame,
Smoke choked screams, and ash like rain.

Amid the chaos, a realm infernal,
    No trepidation, he stands eternal.
His golden plumage, stained black and red.
He spreads his wings, and soars ahead.

The inferno greets him, its blaze unleashed.
He rushes in to quench the beast.
The battle ensues, the embers hiss.
It flares to give its deadly kiss.

The hellish demon spits its flame.
The devil writhes and screams in pain.
And when the fiend at last is tame.
The hero finally stops his rain.

The struggle done, he quits his hose.
And from the ash, the Phoenix rose.

    Unwanted Perseverence

    The old man stretches deeply,
    And winces at the pain.
It seems there's always more of it,
    Around this time of year.

    He gazes out the window,
At snow drifts on the pane,
And at her cold and empty seat,
    And wishes she were here.

All his friends are gone now.
He wants for them in vain.
No children had his wife and he.
His eyes well up with tears.

No festive smells come from his stove.
    No wreaths or candy canes.
    Utter cold and empty home,
Noone left that he held dear.

If only he could be with her,
    He'd open up a vein,
And let his life bleed out of him.
The dark could claim his fear.

But that he knows he cannot do.
    She wouldn't want that way.
Someday he'll join her after life.
    Till then, he'll persevere.

    Pesky Prints
    Traitorous little ridges,
Betraying me with every thing I touch,
    Been with me since birth,
    And yet, no loyalty.
    Better to burn them off
Then do the time for the crime.

    "Happy New Year?"

    Early holiday
    January hangover
    And new beginnings?

    Broken promises
    Little lies told to ourselves
    Light another fuse

    Bright fire raining down
    Melting pristine piles of snow
    Yet we celebrate?

    C'est la vie

    Time to celebrate!
    A headache lie in wait.
But, for now my thirst I'll sate
And have the world upon my plate

So raise a toast, and have some more
Drink until we hit the floor.
Tomorrow, we shall see for sure,
    That celebration is a whore.

    The Tempest

In the eye of the storm,
    Fleeting serenity envelopes the soul.
A moment to clear my head,
    Before the tempest regains control.

Chaos swirls on all four fronts.
A deluge of emotion before and behind.
    White hot rage,
    Blackest despair,
    Envious green,
    Tangled,
    Entwined.

A tiny vessel on an infinite sea,
    With darkness all around.
    Electrified, oppressive sky.
    Ominous thoughts abound.

    Tranquility depleted,
    The waves begin to swell,
    With cacophony of thunder,
    And screaming winds from hell.

With heavy heart and burdened soul,
    I plunge into the night.
    Behind, the light leaves me,
As the eye, it closes tight.

    A Disposable Past

The King is dead, His army defeated.
    Vanquished is his name.
Soil now rich with fallen Crimson,
    King's blood springs life again.

    Fallen are his minions.
Each one has met his fate.
    The battlefield has quieted,
    And only hell awaits.

    Victory is ours,
    Though bitter in the end.
    Many lost along the way,
    Like whispers in the wind.

    This battle is eternal.
    Our quest will never still.
A future of a thousand pasts,
For Ka is but a wheel.

    Flashfried

    Welling up within me,
    Unseen vibrations coalesce.
Friction produces vibrant waves of electric blue,
    Alive with hair raising potential.
    Inaudible, Intangible humming,
    Searching for an outlet.
    Energy brimming over,
    Barely contained.
    Finally,
    An unsuspecting victem,
I drag my feet as I approach.
My hand extends an innocent greeting.

    SNAP.....the discharge is serene.

    Solitude

    Away from all the others,
I can scarcely hear them scream.
I watch them from a distance.
    Surreal as if a dream.
    Popcorn and corndogs,
I taste in wisps of air.
    Flashing lights and ringing bells,
    The world without a care.
    A fleeting thought of joining,
But no, I do not dare.
Cause I am always over here,
    And they are over there.

    Bend of Oblivion

    Venomous orb
    Murderous, pulsating eye
    Oily, dark bile within

    Maerlyn's black thirteen
    Odious, gaping abyss
    Down the rabbits hole

    We go.......

    War and pestilence
    Plague of human existence
    Rotting, putrid souls

    Revolting secrets
    Unspeakable sins are told
    Deadly lies unfold

    Mothers drown their own
    Sinister, murky waters
    Depth of which, unknown

    Hateful dream of death
Walk with Walter O' the Dim
    Come and stay awhile

    Sanity undone
    Unraveling and threadbare
    Laughing and screaming

    His Season

Life springs forth, anew and curious.
    Trails untrodden, untaken, untried.
Lessons learned, a pace so furious,
    As April thunderstorms collide.
A world of wonderous work awaits,
A willful one would soon descry.
    Though as the novelty abates,
This wounderous world one will defy.

    Summer sunshine, and rich desire.
A frantic race to experience all.
Each end of the candle alive with fire.
    Carefree climb and ingnorant fall.
Newfound passion, hot as the sun,
    Awkward lovers, entranced, enthralled.
His legacy he attempts to emblazon,
    A disjointed message hastily scrawled.

Then in the Autumn, the passion cools.
His acorns, the squirrel methodically tolls.
Content to watch the younger fools,
Along his beaten path he strolls.
He sits and thinks all by himself,
Of how the pace of life has slowed,
Of polished dreams upon a shelf,
Unto his young they're now bestowed.

    Bitter winter, now has come.
    Weathered hands and aching bones.
    Icy wind, a howling thrum,
Icicles long and gnarled have grown.
Though death is nigh he has no fear,
His life he's lived, his seed he's sown.
His season, long, shall pass this year,
As he came in, he leaves...alone.

Bears are very impressed, now that it's all collected.

They had two favorite poets in this site - Fruno and Jon - and now they have three. I am planning to comment a lot, later.

    All Hallow's Eve

The westering sun soaks the earth,
    With tints of burning crimson.
    Sinister shadows creep behind,
    Or crawl along ahead.

    All Hallows Eve's crepuscular rays,
    Bring gloaming death in season.
The darkness bests the sun's assault,
And fills the soul with dread.

The children laugh from door to door,
    As demons watch and wait.
Ensconsed within each gloom and shade,
    They'll stay untill they've fed.

As monster's scream from plastic masks,
With threats of "Trick or Treat",
The real ghouls lurk with growing need,
To rent, and tear, and shred.

A groaning wind whines through the trees,
    It whispers and it sighes.
    Jack-O-Lanterns search the night,
    With eyes of gleaming red.

As ghosts and witches roam the streets,
    A straggler falls behind.
    The ambush happens silently,
And in the dark he's bled.

Though most will make it home of course,
    With candy in their bags.
At least in one child's room tonight,
    There'll be an empty bed.

    A Woman's Work

    I have a friend,
    Tough as nails,
    Who'd never cried or bled.
But then a woman he did meet,
And tears of joy he shed.

    Another fellow,
    Dense as stone.
He worked the field by day.
But then a woman blessed his soul,
    And knowledge came his way.

    Another friend,
    A coward though,
A king in his own right.
Found a woman, and did she,
    Bestow upon him might.

    I myself,
    Was lost for days.
    Along the road I'd roam.
But then a woman I did meet,
And she showed me the way home.

This poem has such a shape. I love the message but shaping is hard to do well.

    Good job!

    Old Glory

Old Mother Glory, encased in glass,
    Asleep atop my shelf.
Your navy blue, once royal now,
    Despondent as myself.

Lines of claret, strong and proud,
    Your sanguine gift to me.
Streaks of white, a blinding light,
A star for all to see.

    Folded tight by soldier's gloves,
    Then placed in trembling hands.
A shroud for you, a badge for me,
Of courage, for which it stands.

    How 'bout a song?

    Empty Bottle

I seen ya walkin' just tha
    other day....and I
    Remember how ya made me
    feel that way...cause ya
    You acted like you didnt
    even care.
In fact you acted like you didnt even,
    see me there

Well thats ok cause now I'm
    feelin fine
    And just about drank you
    off my mind
Where heres the last toast to you
    We're through today.
Cause I don't need you now
    Anyhow
    No more.
    No way.

You used to smile while you were
    sellin lies
It took awhile to see your smile as but a
    thin disquise, but now I..
I see your silly, sick, so stupid game
Of cat and rat, and this n that, and playin
    Place the blame.

It used to be that you and me
were quite the team it'd seem,
But now I see the team was me
And you was just a dream.
Now I'm awake and you can take
    Your dream with you today.
Cause I don't need it now,
    Anyhow.
    No more.
    No way.

    Well the..the bottles empty
    And your song is through,
And now there's.. nothin' left that
    You could say or do.
    Oh well the..party's over
    hope you had your fun.
Cause now it seems, its s'pose' to be
That you and me are done.

    Oh well the...
    The bottle's emptyyyyyy...
    Oh yeah the..
    The bottle's emptyyyyy...
    Oh now the..
The bottle's empty and your song is through.

Thanks, the flag was from atop my grandfather's coffin. It was given to me at the services. I kept it at the top of my shelf in a box I made for it for about 10 years until my grandmother also passed away. I buried it with her.

"But now I see the team was me"

    I rather like that line.
“Give me the sense to wonder, to wonder if I'm free."

    Another song?

    Wanting More

    Another empty bottle has,
    Earned my name.
    A vessel for misguided,
    Shame and blame.

Another dream falls to the floor.
Thats alright, I dont need it anymore.

    Broken promises and,
    Evil ways.
    Rows of wasted years and,
    Empty days.

Still don't know what life is for.
It only leaves you wanting more.

Where this road now leads its,
    Hard to say.
Away from pain and tears or,
    Into the flame.

It only leaves you wanting more.
So should I...let you in or close the door?
