    Default Future Book Nominations

Yes, I know it may be a bit early, and I know that we haven't even made a 1984 thread, but this process tends to take a while, and could take up to two months.

So here, we will post our nominations of the future book club, for discussions 5-8. the top ten nominations will be voted on, and the #1 will become book #5. We will then vote again for book #6, #7, and #8. during this time no new nominations will be accepted, and we will renominate for books 9-12.

All books must be nominated, and be thirded at least. You may only nominate one book, but may second (etc) up to three. There can only be 10 books in the poll, so in the case of ties, all books on the lowest tied tier (Ie, six books have been thirded), each book on that tier will be assigned a number, and the proceeding books will be determined with a random number generator.

    Good Luck, and happy nominating

    Nominations

    (1) Fevre Dream. George R.R. Martin - Browning's Childe
    (3) The Great And Secret Show. Clive Barker - Flaggwalkstheline
    (1) Something Not by Jane Austen - Brice
    (1) The Once and Future King. T.H. White - Turtlex
    (1) The War of the Worlds. H.G. Wells - Candy
    (1) The Things They Carried. Tim O'Brien - Razz
    (2) Flowers for Algernon. Daniel Keyes - Letti
    (4) Catch-22. Joseph Heller - Cody44
    (3) The Turn of the Screw. Henry James - Heather19
    (3) Slaughterhouse 5. Kurt Vonnegut - Beambounder

Just because I want to read it anyway, and have heard so many good things about it:

I wish to nominate "Fevre Dream" by George R.R. Martin.

No, you can't, but you can nominate any book she did, or all of them - I think a special concession can be made for you in our Rules for this occasion.

The Man In Black Fled Across The Desert...

    ...And The Gunslinger Followed.

Actually, I think i considered it for last book club as a nomination, before it was decided to stick with what we already had. I second Flowers for Algernon

admited, it was 10 years ago (or possibly more) that i tried to read it, but from what i can remember it felt like the mental equivalent of banging my head against a brick wall.

I shall give it another try because bears like it

and they scare me when they growl at me

bears weren't really growling, they were purring in a questioning way

Yes, I think you should try to reread it now! It's one of the best books ever, in bears' opinion

Are you still taking nominations? If so, I'd like to nominate Turn of the Screw by Henry James.
