You guys are so sweet and cool, I have no idea what I would do without you.
I feel...odd tonight. I think whiskey might help.

i have tiny little bottles of sailor jerry!
if you feel like coming out to NC, i'll share.
I just saw this thread - it's been a busy few weekends for me - and both Mr. Woofer and I want to wish you the best of luck. If there is anything we/I can do, please let me know. We are here to help! Observe: !
Oh, and to help in this way , this way , this way , this way and, of course, this way .
Congratulations and good luck!
It'll take a lot more than words and guns,
A whole lot more than riches and muscle.
The hands of the many must join as one.
And together we'll cross the river.

Matt congrats on your new path, I am so impressed with the guts it takes to make such a change

I just saw this thread! Congrats and good luck with this change!
You know, if you love your job it's not really a job! I know you will do great!
I would want you for my teacher!
Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.
It got so busy I did not get a chance to acknowledge that amazing last post, thank you Karen.
This Friday is my last day but I have already sold some websites so I think it's going to be okay. I'd love another bookkeeping customer though.

I've only just noticed this thread;
best of luck to you, Matt - you'll do great, man. Of course, you have eveybody here behind you, my dear!
I'm with Karen, too - I'd be overjoyed to have a guy like you as my teacher.
Time spent with cats is never wasted.
Thank you Alisha
I think even doing this has a lot to do with how good this place makes me feel about myself. I'd like to feel that way all the time.
Teaching is going to be very cool and my adult students really loved it when I did it for the bank.

Matt, I'm just finding this thread, or I would have said something earlier. Several years ago I was faced with a life changing decision, not the same as you, but I was faced with the decision to remain in my job or leave. I walked. It wasn't easy, and it scared the hell out of me to leave a steady income. Several times I had panic attacks. BUT, I can say with absolute certainty that I never felt like leaving was the wrong choice. Granted my choice was different from yours, but the idea is the same. If you are making the wrong decision, it will feel like the wrong decision. You're certainly old enough to understand the difference between those feelings and simple anxiety/fear. Change is always scary, but if you FEEL in your heart that you are doing the right thing, you usually (like 99% of the time) are. Good luck dude.
May I recommend paying as many monthly bills that you can at least one year in advance. When I quit my job, I paid things like my trash service and car and house insurance one year ahead. That took a little of the pressure off of me for that monthly payment. Other things like the security service, I simply cancelled. I also lowered my car insurance to just liability since my vehicle was an older one (like 13 yeas old). Just some tips from someone who recently left their job.
Margaret Emmie Mackey Catoe, you are, have been, and always will be my soulmate, and I love you.

Thanks so much for the advice Sam, we are really downsizing lately and what you said makes a lot of sense.
I think (at least in this country) people sometimes use material possessions to fill a void in their lives that can be solved by following a dream. So me and Dora are very much into not spending our regular 1000.00 per month at Target on bull crap.
If we can stop doing that, she almost makes enough to support us both and I'm selling website building like a mad man.

You would not believe how this place sells the service my friend. Mostly people are afraid of forums though so this is mostly just a page on the net.

I'm not sure, but I'm going to sell them because there is an upcharge to take care of it.

Small business websites for the locals around here. I have a relationship with a lot of them through the bank and they kind of feel like the whole thing is magic so they haven't messed with it. I'm trying to make it cheap and easy...like me!
Here's one I'm working right now.

Nice work there, Matty!

Yep, not too bad at 500 a pop.
I only have to build about 8 a month to make what I used to
But again, we were pretty fat and happy spending money on whatever we wanted. Not a bad thing to curb that a little
Thanks you guys
