Default Best Graphic Novel of All Time Polls - Rules and Info

Welcome to the voting information thread for
    The Comic Tower’s
Best Graphic Novel of All Time, or BGNoAT.

Before we begin with the voting, please read the following rules, regulations, and general spouting off at the mouth. We'll be putting the actual voting poll threads up soon, so please read through the info below.

In total, there were 44 titles nominated and entered into the voting.

We would like to thank everyone who nominated titles. They are: SiqTauGimp, pookie, flaggwalkstheline, DoctorDodge, LadyHitchhiker, Brice, Arthur Heath, oy-the-brave, Seymour Glass, razz, turtlex, Matt, Aaron, Kidd Ikarus, Sam, soylentjillian, The Lady of Shadows, feverishparade, Heather19, The Cosmic Geek, sarajean, Mad Man, Darkthoughts and Ari Racing.

All the members listed above (with the exception of Sam, turtlex, Matt and Aaron) will be entered into the Graphic Novel Giveaway! Drawing to be made after we crown our winner.

    RULES and stuff ...

There will be four rounds of voting, count 'em, FOUR.

The First Round consists of the 44 nominees having been randomly distributed into 4 Brackets of 9 titles and 1 Bracket of 8 titles (44 don’t divide 5 times too well). Each member will have ONE vote per bracket, so vote for your favorite title in each Bracket. The top 4 vote getters of each bracket will advance into Round 2.

In the event of a tie for fourth place, there will be a tie breaking vote held between the titles tied for that position.

In the event that none of the titles get voted on, I will hunt each one of you down and personally beat you to death with a wet lasagna noodle.

For The Second Round the remaining titles will be randomly distributed into 5 Brackets of 4 titles each. Once again each member will get one vote per bracket, so vote for your favorite title. The top 2 of each bracket will advance to the Final Round. In the event of a tie, there will be a tie breaking vote held between the tying titles. Remember to vote though or I’ll have to get the water boiling for the noodle.

The Third Round will be more of the same, but the 5 randomly distributed Brackets will have only 2 titles per Bracket. You should again vote for your favorite. The winner of each Bracket will advance to the Final Round. Don’t forget my lasagna noodle. Vote.

Round Four, or the Final Round, will be different from the previous rounds. In this round each title will go head-to-head against each of the other remaining titles. The winning title will gain one point. After all of the head-to-head contests are over, the winner will be the title with the most points.

In the event of a tie, we (turtlex and I) will refer back to the contest between the tying titles. The winning title of that voting will be declared the winner. (example: Sam and Max and From Hell are tied for First Place with 4 points each at the end of the final round. The head-to-head vote between Sam and Max and From Hell had Sam and Max getting the most votes and thus Sam and Max won that contest. This means that since Sam and Max had already been deemed the favorite between the two tied titles, it would be declared the winner of the whole thing and the Comic Tower's BGNOAT.

And now… Get Ready... We'll be publishing the Round One bracket list soon, followed by the actual polls!

Use this thread to ask questions and make comments and generally question our math skills. If you'd prefer - feel free to PM either myself or turtlex.

Yeah it does (have V For Vendetta), but I can't vote for a book I don't want to own. I can't get past the artwork of it. I've tried, but I can't. Besides, there can be only one **Highlander reference**, and I've gotta go with Kingdom or Bad Rat.

Yeah, it's these kind of responses that lead me to believe we should post the ROUND ONE brackets a little early... give folks some time to stew on it. I don't think any bracket is a slam dunk for me.

This really fell apart for me. Now I'm kinda apathetic.

But here's an interesting factoid: I voted Watchmen over V. I voted V over Maus. But then I voted Maus over Watchmen.

Wow dude. I'm really sorry to hear that it fell apart for you. I've enjoyed it even if the titles I truly love didn't make it through to the end. I have to say though that I'm not surprised for one moment about the titles that ARE in the finals.

Answer me this though, how could we have made it better/more fun?

Well, the poll is probably the best representation of most people's opinions. It's just that all my absolute favorite stuff is Preacher or written by Grant Morrison. The remaining titles are, of course, excellent. I'm just being a whiner.

SG - No, you're not whining, man. There are so many cool Graphic Novels out there, that was kind of the point of starting the polls in the first place. Honestly, with all the nominations, I have a cool list of GNs to get to when I have the time...

...and honestly, there's nothing whiney about liking Grant Morrison !!

We should have a poll for best runs on an ongoing series.
