And do you know how things like signatures might affect the value?

Nothing yet for the end of LRH or for Captain Trips. Also, nothing for the non-graded Locke and Key issues. Perhaps the next issue.

Signatures are hard to detemine prices on... unless they're part of a Signature Series CGC (which involves having a CGC certified witness be there when the comic is signed) because there's nothing to prove you have a real signature.

I've seen signed Jae Lee comics go for around $20.00 ( and I was about 100% sure it was a real signature ). Peter David for about the same. Both on Gunslinger Born regular issues. Obviously, if they had been on Variants/sketches - they would have gone for more.

I would guess about a hundred each, perhaps a little less as the estimated prices on the Sketch Issues is going down right now ...... however ( !!! ) if they were SS, you'd be looking at about $150 each or more.

Aaron - roughly, add about $20-25 to the price of the sketch issue itself.

I almost never see Jae Lee in SS CGC Dark Tower.

Matt - A photo of Jae Lee signing the comic WOULD make a difference. Also, the story about the signature ( ie - the Las Vegas Gathering ).

Interesting, Pam. I've noticed that the Treachery #6 sketch variant is a difficult one to find at a reasonable price--I still don't have one--but the others are fairly easy to get. I wonder why Treachery #6 sketch is so hard to find.

John - That's a good question, but for sure it is. I got one CGC'd at 9.8 - which usually costs me about $79-99.00 and because it was hard to find for my "comic guy" - it ended up costing me $120. He had a real hard time finding one in good condition for sending to CGC.

Actually, sketch issues are a hole in my CGC collection right now ( waiting on Treachery 3 and 4 at 9.8 ).

I wonder if dealers are ordering a significant number of fewer issues ( and therefore are not getting the 1:75 sketch issue ).

( FYI : right now, www.mycomicshop.com has a Treachery 6 Sketch for $90 (NM+) and one for $51 (VF+) - those prices seem high, just FYI, for non-CGC issues )

Agreed. I've seldom paid more than $42 (including shipping) for any of my sketch variants. Of course, I don't buy GCC graded items, but...

I guess I'll just have to wait for this one to come down in price. It's the only sketch variant I don't have.

I am double checking some comic values for a friend, so thought I'd update this thread.

Question: Do you think, at some point in the future (and please feel free to venture a guess) that anyone holding every "original" issue (i.e., no variants, just one "regular" copy of each comic) of the series will have something worth anything? I'm just kind of curious, since at some point in the distant future I'll have to leave these to someone, and if they'd be worth some bucks I may leave them to charity.

Daggers - Honestly, it's very hard to say. My first instinct was to say - probably not.

However, giving it some deeper thought : The caveat would be that a complete set - every single issue from every single arc - might be worth something down the road ... only because sales of the more current issues have dropped off ( ie - less and less people will have a complete set, the further into the story we've gotten ).

For an example - Gunslinger Born was a huge hit ( several issues sold out ) and the individual issues from that arc are easy to find, and are currently selling for far below cover price ( as low as $1.10 an issue at my online comic book store ). However, the current arc is selling far fewer copies - a complete set would have to be based on the lower number of the more recent issues.

The key, of course, is to keep the issues in pristine condition - bagged, boarded and out of direct sunlight.

My take on comics in general - comics are different than books in the collecting world. Seeing the money value go up is a slow, slow process.

The DT comics are a slight exception, since they're what I call a kind of "crossover" collectible. For instance, Stephen King collectors want them, comic collectors want them, and when / if a DT movie is made, then the movie fans will eventually want them.
