He seemed to have been able to go when he wanted, after saying goodbyes to the people that really meant a lot to him.
It's sad, but it also doesnt sound like the worst way to go.
He's now resting in peace, but my thoughts are with you and your wife

Every time I visited my grandmother over the last 20-some years, we made it a point of treating it as if it would be the last time we spoke; it always ended with an I Love You and See You Next Time, knowing that there might not be and one day for sure there wouldn't be. The last time I saw her, in September, I think we both knew there probably wouldn't be a next time; she made a comment as such, but of course we joked about it and moved on. We still said I Love You and See You Next Time, but it was different. I don't regret for a second having that last conversation and saying that final goodbye, and I'll bet ... with time ... your wife won't either. The regret of loss and being unable to help someone you love is a strong and devastating emotion, but the memories of love will win out in the end.

So I just found out that the guy that runs another message board that I'm a part of (and have been for about 20 years now) just passed away from cancer. He was literally the owner and operator of the boards.

I'm not sure how I feel about it because I never met him IRL but we had a bit of a history together. Both good and bad. He hadn't been actually active on the board in about 10 years but he continued to pay the bills and do all the upgrades for it. His wife was also a member but AFAIK, hasn't said anything about what will happen in the future. The place isn't as active as it was 10 or 15 years ago but it's a decent-sized community.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?

It's understandable that you would feel some sense of loss. I know I would for anyone here even if I never actually met them.

A new online era of The Far Side is coming!

Gary Larson updated The Far Side website for the first time in almost 20 years, leading to a lot of speculation that he's bringing the strip back.
Honestly, the wording is so vague that he could just be making the existing strips available online, but there's hope!
The new site is live and Larson will be periodically publishing new material starting in 2020.

Those whose last names aren't Weinstein or Wienstien or whatever and who can't afford expensive casting couches and Italian sports cars to present to aspiring actresses after 'introducing' themselves to these debutantes on said couches, become critics instead. It's a lot cheaper and doesn't (usually) lead to jail time, although it's a lot less fun. Until one lands in jail (unless you think that's fun).
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.

    Sorry to hear this, Kris.

I'm glad that he was able to go on his own terms - something that's not possible in a lot of places - but I'm sad that your wife didn't get the goodbye she might have liked.

I do think that time will make it easier, at least I hope so. Lots of losses for a number of people in the community this year.

    Hey,

Could anyone please help me with the following infos?
    - 2017 - The Colorado Kid, by PS Publishing : how many illustrations by Dave Mc Kean are there? 18?
    - 2018 - Night Shift, by CD : 20 B&W illustrations by Chris Odgers? Has the book been available or not yet, actually? Is there a portfolio?
    - 2018 - Sleeping Beauties, by CD : how many illlustrations by Jana Heidersdorf? Is there a portfolio?
    - 2018 - Misery, by Suntup : how many ilustrations by Rick Berry?
    - 2019 - The Stand, PS Publishing : 30 color illustrations & 6 double page by Don Maitz, is that accurate?
    - 2019 - Revival, LetterPress Publications : 16 color illustrations including 6 double pages by Francois Vaillancourt, is that correct?

Feel free to send me in private some pictures of the illustrations, if you dont mind
Were there any other illustrated editions since 2018? Besides the Tommyknockers (PS Publishing), and Gwendy's Button Box (SST Publications)

    Thanks !
